About Ironhorse

The Iron and the Know-How to Clear It

Ironhorse has been clearing Middle Tennessee land since 2005. Land clearing isn't tree service with a bigger saw — it's a different job that takes real equipment: mulchers, excavators, skid steers, and grapples, plus operators who know how to move them across raw ground without tearing it up.

We've cleared over 2,400 acres — building lots, farm acreage, fence lines, and full development sites. We clear selectively when you want trees kept, mulch in place when you'd rather skip the burn piles, and grade the ground so it's genuinely build-ready when we leave. Fully insured, straight-priced, and proud of the work we leave behind.

The Ironhorse Difference

Clearing Land Is a Different Job

It takes more than a chainsaw. Here's what separates a real land-clearing outfit from a tree crew in over its head.

The Fleet

Big Iron, Run by People Who Know It

You can't clear serious acreage with rented equipment and hope. Ironhorse runs an owned fleet of forestry mulchers, excavators, skid steers, and grapple trucks — the machines built for exactly this work — maintained and ready so your job doesn't wait on a rental yard.

Just as important are the operators. Moving a mulcher or excavator across raw, uneven, wooded ground without rutting the soil or hitting what should stay is a skill that takes years. Our crews have it. That combination — the right iron and the right hands — is why our cleared sites come out clean, level, and build-ready.

Middle Tennessee Trusts Us With the Big Jobs

We bought five wooded acres to build on and it was a wall of brush and scrub trees. Ironhorse cleared it in three days — selectively, keeping the big hardwoods we wanted and mulching the rest right into the ground. The lot went from impassable to build-ready. Watching their machines work was something else.

Our back acreage had gotten completely overgrown and unusable. Ironhorse came out, gave a fair fixed price, and forestry-mulched the whole thing — no burn piles, no hauling, just clean cleared land we can actually use again. Professional crew and they left it immaculate.

Needed a long fence line and right-of-way cleared through heavy woods for a new property line. Ironhorse handled it fast, worked around our markers exactly, and cleaned up every bit of debris. These guys have the right equipment and clearly know how to use it.

Third project with Ironhorse across two properties now. Site prep, clearing, and bulk removal — always on schedule, always insured, always leave the ground graded and ready for the next crew. When you're clearing land, you want the company that owns the big iron and knows the job. That's them.

Good to Know

Land Clearing Questions, Answered

How much does land clearing cost?

It depends heavily on the property — how many acres, how dense the trees and brush are, the terrain, and whether you want selective clearing, forestry mulching, or full site prep with grading. A lightly wooded acre is very different from dense forest with big hardwoods. That's why we visit your site in person and give you a clear, fixed price for the whole job, so there are no surprises.

What is forestry mulching, and why would I choose it?

Forestry mulching uses a machine that grinds brush and small trees into mulch right where they stand, leaving it on the ground as a natural layer. The advantages are big: no burn piles, no permits for burning, nothing to haul away, and the mulch actually helps the soil and controls erosion. For a lot of properties it's faster, cleaner, and more eco-friendly than traditional clear-and-haul. We'll tell you honestly whether it's the right fit for your land.

Can you clear around trees I want to keep?

Absolutely — selective clearing is one of the things we do best. Walk the property with us and mark the hardwoods, specimen trees, or borders you want protected, and we'll clear everything else while working carefully around them. Our operators are experienced at threading heavy equipment through a site without damaging what should stay.

Will the land be ready to build on when you're done?

That's the goal when you want it. Beyond just knocking down trees and brush, we can remove stumps and rough-grade the site so it's genuinely build-ready — clean, level ground your foundation or excavation crew can start on right away. Just tell us it's a build site during your walk-through and we'll clear and finish it accordingly.

Are you licensed and insured for this work?

Yes, fully. We carry $2M in liability coverage plus workers' comp, and we're bonded. Running heavy equipment on your property carries real risk, and you never want an uninsured outfit doing it — if something goes wrong, you can be exposed. We're always glad to provide proof of insurance before we start.

How long does it take to clear a property?

It ranges from a single day for a small lot to a week or more for large, densely wooded acreage or full site development. When we walk your property and quote it, we'll also give you a realistic timeline so you can plan around it. Because we own our equipment and don't wait on rentals, we can usually schedule you sooner than outfits that don't.
