When Smart Isn't The Problem

These are skills, not character flaws — and skills can be taught.

Assignments done but never turned in

The work exists somewhere in the backpack, or the laptop, or the car.

Everything happens the night before

Long projects become one panicked evening.

Starting is the hardest part

An hour at the desk, and the first sentence still isn't written.

Grades swing from A to F

Not because of the material — because of the deadlines.

Our Approach

Systems They Build And Own

A planner a parent sets up gets abandoned by October. So we don't hand students a system — we build one with them, around how they actually work, and practice it every week until it's a habit.

Coaching isn't tutoring in a subject. It's the layer underneath: remembering, planning, starting, sticking with it and checking work before it's due. Those skills transfer to every class, and later to college and work.

  • ✓Built with the student, not for them
  • ✓Practiced every week
  • ✓Skills that carry into college

You Get To Be The Parent Again

When a coach owns the planning conversation, homework stops being the nightly argument. You'll get a short monthly update and a call each term — and a few practical ideas for supporting your student without taking over.

Executive function coaching is not therapy or medical treatment. If your student has ADHD or another diagnosis, we're happy to work alongside their doctor, therapist or school team.

Good To Know

Questions Parents Ask

What is executive function coaching?

Coaching on the skills behind schoolwork — planning, organizing, starting tasks, managing time and following through. It's different from subject tutoring, though the two often work well together.

Is this only for students with ADHD?

No. Many of our students have no diagnosis at all; they simply haven't learned these skills yet. We also work with many students who have ADHD, alongside their clinical care.

How much does coaching cost?

Weekly coaching is $340 a month for four sessions. The study skills bootcamp is $360, and parent sessions are $110. The first consultation is free.

How long do students usually work with you?

Most see a real change within the first two or three months. Many continue for a semester or a school year, then step down to check-ins.

Do you work online?

Yes. Sessions run in our Evanston office or online, and many students mix the two.

What age do you work with?

Students from sixth grade through college. Middle school is a great time to start, before the workload jumps.
