Stories That Move Missions — Nonprofit Video Production in Seattle
Alder Lane makes the films nonprofits fund their years with — gala films that raise records, documentaries that honor the people in them, and donor stories that turn attention into support.

We Film the Why, Not Just the What
Every nonprofit can list what it does. The film that moves a room explains why it matters — one person, one turning point, told honestly. We spend the first week listening before a camera ever comes out, and it shows in every frame that follows.
- ✓Story development before any filming begins
- ✓Trauma-informed, consent-first interviews
- ✓Participants see their story before donors do
- ✓Films built around one honest human moment
Films for Every Part of the Mission
From the gala stage to the grant report — every film is built for the moment it has to work in.
Why Our Films Move People
Listen First
A week of conversations before a single frame — the story is found in the listening, not the shoot.
Film With Dignity
Consent-first interviews and participants who feel honored, never used. It's visible on screen.
Cut for the Room
A gala film is not a website film. Every edit is built for the exact moment it has to move people.
Missions We've Had the Honor to Tell
Food security, housing, youth programs, conservation — eight years of Northwest stories.

The Film That Funds the Year
The three minutes before the paddle raise are the most valuable of your fiscal year. A great gala film sets the room — it quiets the tables, opens hearts, and gives your auctioneer a running start. We've made a hundred and forty of them, and we build each one backward from that moment.
- ✓Story-driven, not statistics-driven
- ✓Timed and mixed for a live room
- ✓Delivered with a screening-night tech check
- ✓Re-cut after the event for year-round use

What Mission Teams Say
We played the film Alder Lane made at our fall gala and raised 40% over goal — the biggest night in our organization's history. Donors still bring it up a year later. It didn't just show our work; it made people feel why it matters.
They filmed our program participants with so much care. Nobody felt like a subject — people felt honored. That's rare, and it's why we won't work with anyone else.
Our grant report video did in three minutes what forty pages couldn't. Two funders renewed early and one increased their gift. The board now budgets for video every single year.
What Organizations Ask First
What does a nonprofit film cost?
Gala films and grant videos are scoped to nonprofit budgets, and we'll tell you honestly what's achievable at yours. Many organizations fund film through a sponsor or board designation — we can share how partners have done it.
How far ahead should we book a gala film?
Eight to twelve weeks is comfortable — enough time to listen, film across a few program days, and cut without rushing anyone's story. Six weeks is possible; call us before you assume it isn't.
How do you care for the people in our films?
Consent-first, trauma-informed, and unhurried. Participants approve their story before donors ever see it, can withdraw at any point, and are treated as partners in the telling — not subjects of it.
Can you film our programs without disrupting them?
That's the job. Small crews, natural light where we can, and days planned around your program schedule — most participants forget we're there by mid-morning.
Who owns the footage and the film?
Your organization does — the films, the b-roll library, everything, under a plain-language agreement. Use it in campaigns, reports, and applications for as long as it serves the mission.
Can one shoot serve multiple purposes?
It should. A gala film shoot typically also yields a grant video, donor thank-yous, and a season of social cuts — we plan the filming days so every audience gets its version.
Your Mission Has a Story. Let's Tell It Well.
Fall gala films book by early summer — start the conversation now and the film will be ready when the room is.
Tell Us About Your Mission
One business day to a reply, and the first conversation is always free — bring the story you wish more people knew.
