Prove Every Weld — Certified Welding, Testing & Inspection in Cleveland
Kovar qualifies welders, writes and proves procedures, and inspects code work for Northeast Ohio's fabricators and contractors — a CWI-staffed lab where the test is honest and the paperwork lands in 48 hours.

Where Welders Come to Get Papered
Train Avenue runs eight test bays, a bend-test bench, and a filing system your auditor will love. Fabricators send new hires for qualification, contractors book crews before bid season, and QA managers bring us the procedures nobody on staff has time to write. The test is honest — pass rates are earned here — and the feedback when someone misses is specific enough to fix.
- ✓Eight booths — SMAW, FCAW, GMAW & GTAW
- ✓Guided bend testing done in-house
- ✓Certs tracked with continuity reminders
- ✓Group sessions for crews before bid season

When a Weld Breaks, Find Out Why — Properly
A cracked weld gets blamed on the welder by default, and the real cause walks free. Our failure work reads the fracture, the joint design, the procedure, and the service conditions before naming a culprit. Half the time the fix is a detail change, not a discipline problem — and a written analysis that ends the argument is worth more than a dozen re-welds.
- ✓Fracture examination & root-cause reading
- ✓Joint design & procedure review
- ✓Written findings your engineer can act on
- ✓Follow-up procedure fixes qualified in the lab
Why QA Managers Keep Our Number
The Test Is Honest
No pencil-whipped certs — pass rates here are earned. That's exactly why inspectors and insurers accept our paper without a second look.
Fluent in Both Codes
Structural D1.1 and pressure Section IX under one roof — with staff who can explain the difference to your newest hire without jargon.
Paper That Survives Audits
Records formatted to the letter of the code, filed for reprint years later, and organized the way auditors actually ask for them.
Asked Before the First Test
What does a welder qualification test cost?
Single-process plate tests start in the low hundreds; pipe tests and multiple positions run more. Crews get block pricing. Every quote includes coupons, CWI witnessing, bends, and the paperwork — no add-ons at the counter.
How fast can my welder get tested?
Individual sessions usually book within the week; crews within two. If a contract award has you in a pinch, call — we hold early-morning bays for exactly that.
Do you test to our company's WPS?
Yes — send the procedure ahead of the session and we'll test to it exactly. If the WPS itself has problems, we'll flag them before your welder burns a rod on a test that can't pass.
What happens if someone fails?
They leave knowing specifically what missed — root pass, cap, restart, or technique — and what to practice. Retests are discounted, and most welders who get our feedback pass the second sitting.
Can you come to our shop instead?
For crews of six or more, our CWI travels to you with coupons and brings bends back to the lab. Inspection work is on-site by nature — floor or field.
Do you keep our records on file?
Forever. Reprints are free, continuity windows are tracked, and when an auditor asks for a cert from four years ago, one email gets it back to you the same day.
