Get Back to Digging — Heavy Equipment Welding & Repair in Reno
Rourke rebuilds the buckets, blades, booms, and crusher parts that Northern Nevada digs with — AWS D14.3 crews, a 40-ton shop, and field rigs that meet the iron where it broke.

Built for Iron That Doesn't Fit Through Normal Doors
Valley Road is set up for the work most shops wave off: a 40-ton overhead crane, air-arc gouging bays, a wire library that runs from 7018 to chromium-carbide hardface, and doors tall enough for a haul truck bed. When the machine can't come to us, three field rigs carry the same alloys, the same procedures, and the same welders to the pit, the pad, or the shoulder of I-80.
- ✓AWS D14.3 earthmoving-equipment procedures
- ✓Air-arc gouging & crack-out done right
- ✓Preheat, interpass & post-heat logged on thick sections
- ✓Load tests before anything goes back to work
If It Digs, Crushes, or Hauls, We Weld It
Shop rebuilds and field repairs for the machines Northern Nevada runs on.
Bucket & Blade Rebuilds
Cracked shells, worn floors, blown corners — we gouge out the damage, rebuild to base metal, re-face the wear zones, and send buckets back with edges, adapters, and teeth set to spec. Most rebuilds turn in 24-48 hours.
Hardfacing Programs
Wear is a schedule, not a surprise. We map your wear patterns, match alloy to material, lay the right pattern, and log hours — so buckets, augers, and hammers get re-faced before base metal pays the bill.
Field Welding & Line Boring
Three rigs with welders who've stood in pits since apprenticeship. Cracked booms, loose pins, wallowed bores — welded, line-bored, and load-tested where the machine sits.
Crusher & Screen Repair
Jaw cheek plates, cone liners and seats, screen frames, pitman cracks, feeder pans — weekend turnarounds that keep Monday's shift crushing.
Boom, Stick & Cylinder Repair
Structural crack repair on booms and sticks with full preheat and procedure control, plus cylinder rod builds and barrel work through our machining partners.
Custom Wear Parts
Skid plates, liner packages, chute and hopper liners, cutting edges, and one-off wear parts cut, formed, faced, and fit to your machine — not a catalog's idea of it.
What Keeps Machines Digging
24-48 Hour Bucket Turns
Drop a bucket at the shop and it's usually back on the machine inside two days — rebuilt, faced, and edged.
Procedures, Not Guesswork
AWS D14.3 practice on earthmoving iron: preheat, controlled interpass, logged post-heat on every thick section.
An Alloy for Every Wear
Abrasion, impact, or both — chromium carbide, build-up wire, and impact-rated hardface matched to how your material actually eats steel.
Shop or Shoulder of I-80
40-ton crane on Valley Road, three field rigs for everything that can't move. Same welders, same standards, either way.
What Comes In vs. What Goes Back
Wear like the left comes in every week. The right is the standard that leaves.

Wear Is a Schedule, Not a Surprise
How we turn wear parts from a recurring emergency into a line item.
Map the Wear
We photograph wear zones, measure what's left, and note hour-meter readings — one machine at a time, whole fleet if you want.
Match the Alloy
Pit-run abrasion, shot-rock impact, or sticky clay pack-out each eat steel differently. The wire gets chosen by the enemy, not by habit.
Lay the Pattern
Stringer, weave, or waffle — pattern controls how material flows across the face and how long the facing lives. It's applied, logged, and photographed.
Re-Face on Hours
The log tells us when facing runs thin. We re-face on schedule — before wear reaches base metal and a cheap maintenance pass becomes a rebuild.

When the Machine Can't Come to the Shop
A D9 with a cracked C-frame doesn't ride a lowboy for fun. Our rigs carry generators, wire feeders, gouging rigs, preheat torches, and enough alloy to handle what the photos didn't show. Pits, ranches, road jobs, and the occasional 2 AM conveyor — if a truck can reach it, a Rourke welder can fix it.
- ✓Three rigs across Reno, Sparks & the I-80 corridor
- ✓Line boring brings wallowed pins back to spec
- ✓Breakdown priority for machines that feed a crew
- ✓One welder owns your job from quote to load test
What the Pits & Contractors Say
Cracked the boss weldment on our 349 on a Tuesday, had a Rourke rig on the pad by noon, and the machine was digging Thursday morning. Their gouge-and-prep work is the cleanest I've watched in twenty years around iron.
They put our loader buckets on a hardfacing schedule two years ago. We went from replacing cutting edges every season to re-facing on hours — the downtime math isn't close. The wear logs they keep sold our GM by themselves.
Crusher jaw cheek plates, screen frames, a cracked pitman — Rourke has welded all of it for us, usually over a weekend so Monday's shift never knows. Quotes hold, dates hold, welds hold. That's the whole review.
Asked From the Cab
How fast can you get to a down machine?
Breakdowns jump the schedule. Inside the Reno-Sparks-I-80 corridor a rig typically rolls within hours of your call; farther out we'll give you an honest window when we quote it. Machines that feed a working crew get priority.
Do you weld cast components?
Yes — with the respect cast demands. Proper identification, preheat, nickel or matching alloy, controlled cooling. Some cast repairs are better sleeved or replaced, and we'll tell you which one you're holding before we strike an arc.
What's hardfacing actually worth?
On abrasion-heavy iron it routinely doubles or triples wear life. A faced bucket floor costs a fraction of a floor replacement — the program pays for itself the first time you skip a rebuild season.
Can you handle crusher work over a weekend?
That's our favorite kind of schedule. Most jaw, cone, and screen repairs are planned for Friday night to Sunday so the plant never misses a producing shift. We scope it during the week, stage steel and wire, and hit it when the plant stops.
Do you make your quotes hold?
Quotes are written after we've seen photos or walked the machine, so they hold. If gouging uncovers damage nobody could see, you get a call with numbers before any extra work happens — never an invoice surprise.
What about warranty?
Twelve months on workmanship across shop and field repairs. If a weld we made fails in normal service, we come back and make it right — that simple.
