Caprock started with one rig and a stack of drill stem seventeen years ago, welding fence for neighbors between Canyon and Claude. These days it's three trucks, a fab shop south of Amarillo, and a phone that rings from Dumas to Hereford — but the work runs the same: show up when we said, build it plumb, weld it like our name's on it, and leave the gate how we found it. Half our jobs come from a neighbor leaning on a fence asking who built it.

A Gate Should Swing Like It's Proud of Itself
Anybody can stick pipe together. The difference shows in year ten: hinges that still swing one-fingered, latches that work in gloves, cattle guards that don't ring like a bell under the feed truck. Our guards are fabbed in the shop on jigs, beams sized for real axle loads, and set level on cured pads. Our gates hang plumb because we brace the posts like the wind here means it — and out on the Caprock, it does.

Word Travels Down the FM Roads
Caprock built two miles of pipe fence and a full set of working pens on our place south of Canyon. Posts plumb, welds clean, gates that swing with one finger — and they finished three days early because weather was coming. My granddad would've hired these boys on the spot.
Cattle guard on our county road entrance rusted through and a heifer found out the hard way. Called Monday, they fabbed a new guard in the shop, set it Thursday, and it's rated for the feed trucks. Fair price, no drama, gate latch fixed while they were at it just because they noticed.
Stock trailer floor crossmembers were shot two weeks before we ship calves. Caprock came to the barn, replaced every rotten member, and reinforced the gate hinge that's been trouble since we bought it. Trailer's tighter than the day it left the dealer.

What does pipe fence cost per foot?
Depends on pipe size, post spacing, and how the ground digs — drill stem runs cheaper than new pipe, and corners cost more than straightaways. We bid by the foot after walking the line, in writing, and the number holds.
How far out will you come?
If a truck can reach it, we'll weld it — Canyon, Hereford, Dumas, Claude, and everywhere between are regular runs. Drive-out is figured honestly in the bid, not tacked on after.
Can you fix equipment during harvest or calving?
That's when the phone rings most, so yes — broken implements and water systems jump the queue in season. A ranch without water can't wait for Tuesday.
Do you build working pens and design the layout?
We do — alleys, tubs, and sorting pens laid out around how your cattle flow and where your trailer backs in. Seventeen years of pens taught us what makes shipping day easy versus western.
New pipe or drill stem — which should I use?
Drill stem for most fence — it's heavier than it needs to be and priced right. New pipe where looks matter: entrances, arenas, house yards. We'll price both ways and let you decide.
Do you take small jobs?
A broken hinge matters as much as a mile of fence — small welds get bundled onto route days so the drive-out stays fair. Never feel bad calling about one gate.
