FREE 2-MINUTE CHECK
Is my business on ChatGPT? Here's how to find out.
First, the misconception: there's no business directory at ChatGPT — nothing to register, nothing to join. Being "on ChatGPT" means one thing: when someone asks it for the best business of your kind in your area, your name is in the answer. Here's how to check that in two minutes, manually or with our free tool.

THE MANUAL CHECK
How to check if your business is on ChatGPT, in 4 steps
You can do this yourself right now — the tool version below just does it more carefully. Either way, the point is the same: read the actual answer, don't guess.
Write the question your customer asks
Not your business name — nobody hires by searching your name; that's a vanity check. The question that matters is the one a stranger types: "best [your trade] in [your city]" or "who should I call for [your service] in [your area]". That's the question whose answer decides whether you exist for that customer.
Ask it logged out, on both assistants
Ask ChatGPT from a logged-out browser window (a logged-in session can color answers with your history), then ask the same question in Google's AI Mode. Two assistants, one question — because your customers use both, and the two won't necessarily name the same businesses.
Read who's named — and write down the date
Note every business named, the ratings and review counts shown with them, and whether you're on the list. Then note the date. AI answers change week to week — an undated answer is a rumor, a dated one is a data point. Watch for a same-name trap: a business with your name in another city being mistaken for you.
Repeat in a few weeks — judge the trend, not the run
One check is a snapshot, and snapshots of a moving thing mislead in both directions. Re-ask the same question every few weeks, keep the dated results side by side, and judge by the trend: named more often, less often, or holding steady. That series — not any single answer — is what tells you whether things are moving.
THE 2-MINUTE VERSION
Or let the checker do it properly
Zarla's free AI Visibility Checker runs the same check with the sloppiness removed. You give it your business name and suburb; it finds your Google Maps listing first, so a same-name business two states over is never mistaken for you. Then it asks the question your customers ask — on ChatGPT and Google's AI — and shows you what came back, word for word.
The result is counted, never scored: "Named in 2 of 12 answers" means exactly that — we asked twelve times across the two assistants and your name appeared twice. You see each question, each verdict, who got named instead of you with their Google ratings, and the date of every answer. No invented "AI visibility score," because the honest unit here is a counted, dated answer — not a number somebody made up.
If you're named: congratulations — you'll see exactly where, and it's worth a screenshot. If you're not: you'll see who was, and the one change most likely to move it. Either way you leave knowing, which beats wondering.
- Matched against your Google Maps listing — same-name businesses never counted as you
- Both assistants in one run: ChatGPT and Google's AI
- Counted, never scored — "named in 2 of 12 answers" means exactly that
- Every answer dated, because AI answers change week to week

Common questions about checking your business on ChatGPT
There's nothing to submit — ChatGPT builds its local recommendations from public signals, and in our checks the businesses it names carry their Google ratings and review counts right in the answer. So the work is: complete your Google Business Profile, keep recent reviews coming, publish a website that states your services and area in plain text, and keep your details identical everywhere. The step-by-step version is our guide to getting your business recommended by ChatGPT.
No — there is no business listing service, no submission form, and no registration at ChatGPT, and anyone selling you one is selling something that doesn't exist. The assistants read public data: your Google Business Profile, your reviews, your website. That's the whole "registration" — and it's free. Treat any "get listed on ChatGPT" offer the way you'd treat a "get listed on word-of-mouth" offer.
Yes, twice over. The manual way is free: ask ChatGPT and Google's AI the question your customers ask from a logged-out browser and read who's named. Zarla's checker is also free, with no sign-up: it adds the careful parts — matching answers against your Google Maps listing, running both assistants in one pass, counting rather than scoring, and dating every answer. Two minutes either way; the only expensive option is not knowing.
No — unfortunate name collision. "ChatGPT Business" is OpenAI's paid workplace subscription: your team using ChatGPT as a tool, with admin controls. What this page covers is whether ChatGPT recommends your business to potential customers in its answers — your visibility, not your subscription. You can have either without the other; a business that's never opened ChatGPT can still be named in its answers, because the answers are built from public data.
Read what travels with their name in the answer — almost always a Google rating and review count. In our checks those are the signals the named businesses visibly carry, which points the comparison where it belongs: their Google Business Profile and review stream next to yours. Put the two side by side and the gap usually stops being mysterious. One honest caveat: coverage thins below city level, so in a small suburb the answer may name nobody at all — that's the assistant's coverage, not your standing.
First, don't panic off one run — answers vary, so confirm with a dated re-check. Then work the levers in order: complete your Google Business Profile, restart your review ask, and make sure your website answers the customer's question in plain text. No one can promise you a spot in an AI answer — anyone who does is guessing — but those are the signals the named businesses visibly carry, and every one is free to improve. Re-check every few weeks and judge by the trend.
