COMPARED OCTOBER 2026
Best AI website builders (2026)
We scored 10 AI website builders on the 9 things that matter to a small business choosing one, the same way for all of them, including Zarla, which is ours.
Free to build · Pay when you publish
Key takeaways
- GoDaddy Airo, Wix and Zarla tie for first, on 16 of 18 points across nine tests.
- Durable, Hostinger and WordPress.com are next, on 15.
- Zarla is ours, so weigh that: its weak spots are in the table like everyone else's.
- Only Durable gets a tick on "Reviews, shown and asked for".
- Every competitor verdict comes from the builder's own pages, with the date we read it. When we asked ChatGPT, it named seven of these builders, and not Zarla.
What's the best AI website builder?
For most small businesses, it's a tie between GoDaddy Airo, Wix and Zarla for the best AI website builder, on 16 of 18 across the nine tests we ran on ten builders.
Durable (15), Hostinger (15) and WordPress.com (15) are close behind.
The full scores are below, with every builder's weak spot, ours included.

Start your website now
Add what you do, your town and your business name to the sentence, and Zarla builds the site, with a page for each service and town you list. You edit it in chat and publish when you're ready.
Already have a website? Bring it across →Zarla keeps your old page addresses where it can and redirects the ones that change, helping you keep the Google standing you've built.
Zarla for small businesses, in plain facts
Zarla is an AI website builder for small businesses. Describe your small business in a sentence and it writes the whole site, every page and every word, in about 30 seconds; after that you change it by typing what you want.
- The AI picks the layout, colours, fonts and photos for your business, and you can move the site onto another design later by asking.
- Hosting is included: you publish from the editor, with nothing to install or connect.
- Customers book online or send you a request from your website, with no second booking subscription.
- Every page gets its search title and description and a sitemap, and you can connect Google Search Console.
- Price: Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.
Your Google reviews show on the site, but asking a customer for a review is a message you send yourself; Zarla can write it for you.
You can download your whole contact list as a spreadsheet at any time, but Zarla doesn't export your site as files to host somewhere else.
In this comparison: joint first of ten, with 16 of 18 points.

Checked on each builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026, and the leads, quotes, invoices and payments together test on October 4, 2026, and re-checked every earlier answer on October 17, 2026, the day GoDaddy Airo, Framer, Hostinger, Webflow, Durable and Lovable joined and all their answers were read. Five tests are new on this page and were first read that day: "AI designs it too", "From draft to live, no setup", "Reviews, shown and asked for", "SEO basics done for you" and "Yours if you leave". When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.

THE LIST

- 1
GoDaddy Airo

What it costsStarter is $9.99/mo billed yearly, with 150 AI credits a month and a free domain; Professional, $24.99/mo billed yearly, adds bookings and payments. The free plan builds and previews but can't publish. (their pricing page, checked 17 Oct 2026)
Features- Airo writes the pages and picks the fonts, colours and layout
- Chat changes the site and adds features, such as a booking system
- A built-in Search Console connection, and code you can download on paid plans
The CatchBooking needs the Professional plan, there are no quotes, invoices come through QuickBooks or FreshBooks, and the free plan builds and previews but can't publish. It's a different product from GoDaddy's Websites + Marketing builder.
- 1
Wix
Best forA strong all-rounder if you like building and fine-tuning the site yourself.
What it costsCore, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. (their pricing page, checked 17 Oct 2026)
Features- An AI builder that writes your pages from a description
- Aria, an AI agent in the Harmony editor that edits the site and adds pages by chat
- Wix Bookings with online payments and deposits
The CatchThere's no way to export the site to host elsewhere, Google reviews come through apps, and bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one.
- 1
Zarla
Best forFor owners who want the site written for them, with leads, quotes, invoices and payments in the same place.
What it costsFree to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.
Features- Describe your business in a sentence and Zarla writes and designs the whole site in about 30 seconds
- Type changes in plain words, or ask for a new page, and the site updates
- Booking, a leads inbox, online quotes, invoices and payment links built in
The CatchBuild my website — freeZarla is newer than the big names, and you change things by typing or clicking rather than dragging elements around a canvas. It also doesn't export your site as files to host somewhere else.
- 4
Durable
Best forSolo service businesses that want booking, invoices and review requests beside the site.
What it costsLaunch is $22/mo billed yearly ($25 billed monthly), with a custom domain. The free plan is a private preview on durable.site that can't go public. (their pricing page, checked 17 Oct 2026)
Features- Writes a site with its pages, words and pictures from your business details
- AI Partner makes changes by chat, and booking syncs with your calendar
- A contacts list, invoices, and review requests by email
The CatchIts help pages document no quotes, the free plan is a private preview that can't go public, and the site doesn't export: only your contacts and your domain leave with you.
- 4
Hostinger
Best forA low monthly price, if you're happy to pay for several years up front.
What it costsPremium is $2.99/mo on a 48-month term ($143.52 up front), renewing at $10.99/mo, with a free domain for the first year; the page shows no yearly price. No free plan: a 7-day trial that can't publish. (their pricing page, checked 17 Oct 2026)
Features- Describe your site and its AI builds it, words included
- In Agentic mode, chat changes the whole site and you can export its code
- Booking and a contacts list built in; a store is Hostinger Ecommerce, a separate subscription
The CatchWe scored its Agentic mode, where chat edits the site and the code exports; its drag-and-drop Manual mode does neither. There's no free plan to publish on, quotes aren't built in, Google reviews and Search Console need pasted code, and its lowest price needs four years paid up front.
- 4
WordPress.com
Best forFor owners who want full control and don't mind choosing and looking after plugins.
What it costsPersonal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. (their pricing page, checked 17 Oct 2026)
Features- An AI website builder on paid plans
- An AI assistant that edits and creates pages, on every paid plan
- Thousands of plugins
The CatchBooking, reviews and invoices each come from a plugin you choose, and its SEO tools and Google verification box need the Premium plan or higher, not Personal.
- 7
Webflow
Best forDesigners and agencies who want full control and may export the code.
What it costsBasic is $15/mo billed yearly, with your own domain; code export needs a paid Workspace plan. A free Starter plan publishes two pages on a webflow.io address. (their pricing page, checked 17 Oct 2026)
Features- Its AI site builder makes a multi-page site with a theme of colours, fonts and images
- Fine design control in a visual editor, with code export on paid Workspace plans
- An automatic sitemap, and AI-written page titles on paid plans
The CatchIt's a designer's tool: day-to-day changes happen in a visual editor rather than by chat, and booking, quotes and invoices come from other companies.
- 8
Framer
Best forDesign-led sites, portfolios and launch pages, where the look matters most.
What it costsBasic is $10/mo billed yearly, with a free custom domain for the first year on yearly billing. A free plan publishes on a Framer address. (their pricing page, checked 17 Oct 2026)
Features- Its AI agent builds a multi-page site, words and layout included, from a description
- Change the site or add pages by chat, or take over on the canvas
- Publishes on Framer's hosting, with a free plan on a Framer address
The CatchIt's built for design-led sites: booking, quotes, invoices and payments aren't built in. And Framer's help pages disagree on taking the site elsewhere: one says it doesn't offer HTML export for self-hosting, another that you can download the files at any time, so we scored the lower answer.
- 8
Lovable
Best forOwners comfortable building custom features with AI, who want to own the code.
What it costsPro is $25/mo billed monthly, or $250 a year; custom domains on paid plans. A free plan publishes on a lovable.app address. (their pricing page, checked 17 Oct 2026)
Features- Builds the site and its words from a prompt, and makes every change by chat
- You own the code: sync it to GitHub or download it
- Payments built in, and hosting on a lovable.app address or your own domain
The CatchIt builds web apps, not business websites as such: booking, a leads inbox, quotes and invoices are yours to build or connect, and its own guide says a sitemap isn't always made for you.
- 8
Squarespace
Best forGood if polished design matters most and you don't mind adding a separate booking tool.
What it costsBasic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. (their pricing page, checked 17 Oct 2026)
Features- Blueprint AI writes a multi-page starting site
- Design-led templates
- Invoices and online payments on every plan
The CatchOnline booking is a second subscription, Acuity Scheduling, on top of the website plan, and it's managed in a different place.
SEE ZARLA BUILD ONE
What Zarla's AI does, in under a minute
A real recording of our product: a business described in one sentence, and the site Zarla writes from it. It's ours, so weigh it as you would any builder's demo; the scores above are the comparison.
What should you look for in an AI website builder?
Every builder here has an AI that writes a first draft, so the useful question is what happens next: how much of the site the AI really does, whether it keeps helping, and whether the site does any work for your business once it's live.
- A whole site, not a page. The AI should write every page and every word from a description of your business, and design it, so you edit rather than start from blank boxes.
- Changes by typing. Ask for a new page, a new section or a different headline and see it happen, without hunting through menus.
- Tools that bring in work. Booking, a place where enquiries land, quotes, invoices and payments: the parts of a website that turn a visitor into a customer.
- Getting found. Search titles, a sitemap and your Google reviews, set up without plugins.
- A way out. What you can take with you if you leave: the site itself, your contacts, your domain.
How did we score the AI website builders?
The 9 tests, and what it takes to get a tick:
- Finished first draft. An AI website builder should write your words, not just lay out empty boxes. Tick: it writes the whole site, pages and words, from a description of your business. Dash: templates, or AI that only writes some of it.
- AI designs it too. Words in a template you picked are half the job. Tick: the AI picks the layout, colours, fonts and pictures for your business as part of the draft. Dash: you pick a template or style first and the AI fills it in.
- Edit by chat, new pages by AI. The AI should keep helping after the first draft: changes should be as easy as sending a text. Tick: you type a change and the site updates, and you can ask for a new page and get one.
- From draft to live, no setup. An AI draft is only useful once it's live. Tick: the draft goes live from inside the builder, with hosting included and nothing to install, connect or deploy. Dash: one extra stage, such as separate hosting or code to deploy. Paying for a plan doesn't count against a builder here; prices are on each card.
- Online booking. For a business that runs on appointments, the website's job is the booking. Tick: customers book from the site, built in on a website plan. Dash: another company's scheduler, a plugin or a second subscription.
- Leads, quotes, invoices and payments together. A small business site exists to bring in work, so what happens after the enquiry counts too. Tick: a leads inbox, quotes your customers accept online, invoices and online payments, all built in. Dash: some of them, or only with plugins.
- Reviews, shown and asked for. Reviews are what a stranger checks before calling you. Tick: your Google reviews on the site and a built-in way to ask customers for one. Dash: one of the two, or only through another company's app.
- SEO basics done for you. A site nobody finds doesn't help. Tick: the builder writes each page's search title and description, makes a sitemap, and connects Google Search Console for you or gives you a box in its settings for Google's verification code. Dash: some of that, or Search Console means pasting Google's tag into the site's custom code or adding a plugin.
- Yours if you leave. Builders change prices and features; you should be able to move. Tick: you can export the whole site (its files or code, or a full export another platform imports) and keep your domain. Dash: some of your content or your domain, but not the site. Cross: nothing to take.
How we picked them. When we asked ChatGPT "What is the best AI website builder? Give me your top 5." on October 17, 2026, two times, its answers named Wix, Framer, Webflow, Squarespace, Hostinger, Lovable and Durable. We score the general builders that appear on every page in this series, Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy (scored here on its Airo AI Builder) and WordPress.com, whether ChatGPT named them this time or not, plus Durable, Hostinger, Webflow, Framer and Lovable from its answer. Zarla is ours. GoDaddy's help says the chat-based AI builder inside its Websites + Marketing builder closed on July 31, 2026, so this page scores Airo AI Builder, the AI builder GoDaddy's website sells now; our other comparisons still score Websites + Marketing.
How we scored them. Same tests for everyone, each worth the same. We checked every answer on the builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026, and the leads, quotes, invoices and payments together test on October 4, 2026, and re-checked every earlier answer on October 17, 2026, the day GoDaddy Airo, Framer, Hostinger, Webflow, Durable and Lovable joined and all their answers were read. Five tests are new on this page and were first read that day: "AI designs it too", "From draft to live, no setup", "Reviews, shown and asked for", "SEO basics done for you" and "Yours if you leave". godaddy.com and Webflow's help centre block automated reading, so we read their pages through a page-reading service. Where two of a builder's own pages disagree, we score the lower answer and say so. When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.
What we didn't score. Price, because every plan bundles different things (each builder's own price is on its card, and Zarla's is on our pricing page), and page speed, which our small-business comparison measures on real sites. We didn't time each builder with a stopwatch: the draft-to-live test counts the steps each builder's own pages describe. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.
The same method elsewhere. the best website builders for small business and the best free website builders, and trade by trade for 32 kinds of business on our comparisons page.
Questions owners ask
A website builder whose AI writes the site for you from a description of your business: the pages, the words and usually the design. The better ones keep helping after that, so you change the site by typing what you want. Every builder on this page has one; what differs is how much of the site the AI does, and what comes with it.
You can build and preview for free on most of them; going live is where they differ. Wix, Framer, Webflow (two pages) and Lovable have free plans that publish on the builder's own address (such as yoursite.wixsite.com). Zarla, GoDaddy Airo and Durable let you build and preview for free and charge to publish, and Hostinger and Squarespace start with a free trial. WordPress.com's AI builder is on its paid plans. Our free website builders comparison scores exactly what each one lets you publish for free.
If you leave a builder, the site usually stays behind, so it's worth knowing before you start. GoDaddy Airo, Hostinger, WordPress.com, Webflow and Lovable let you take the whole site, and your domain. Only part of it comes with you on Wix (no site export; content as CSV, and your domain); Zarla (contacts download; no site export); Durable (contacts as CSV and your domain; no site export); Framer (its help pages disagree on site export); Squarespace (partial export file, and your domain). We read each on the builder's own pages on October 17, 2026.
Durable shows your Google reviews and asks customers for new ones, built in. It's one or the other, or another company's app, on GoDaddy Airo (shows Google reviews; no review requests found); Wix (Google reviews via apps; review emails for stores); Zarla (Google reviews shown; requests you send yourself); Hostinger (Google reviews only by pasted widget code); WordPress.com (Google reviews only through plugins); Webflow (Google reviews through other companies' apps); Framer (Google reviews through other companies' plugins); Lovable (shows Google reviews by a connector; no requests); Squarespace (product review emails; no Google reviews tool). We read each on the builder's own pages on October 17, 2026.
Building and previewing one can cost nothing on most builders; a live site on your own domain costs money on every builder here. GoDaddy Airo: Starter is $9.99/mo billed yearly, with 150 AI credits a month and a free domain; Professional, $24.99/mo billed yearly, adds bookings and payments. The free plan builds and previews but can't publish. Wix: Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. Durable: Launch is $22/mo billed yearly ($25 billed monthly), with a custom domain. The free plan is a private preview on durable.site that can't go public. Hostinger: Premium is $2.99/mo on a 48-month term ($143.52 up front), renewing at $10.99/mo, with a free domain for the first year; the page shows no yearly price. No free plan: a 7-day trial that can't publish. WordPress.com: Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. Webflow: Basic is $15/mo billed yearly, with your own domain; code export needs a paid Workspace plan. A free Starter plan publishes two pages on a webflow.io address. Framer: Basic is $10/mo billed yearly, with a free custom domain for the first year on yearly billing. A free plan publishes on a Framer address. Lovable: Pro is $25/mo billed monthly, or $250 a year; custom domains on paid plans. A free plan publishes on a lovable.app address. Squarespace: Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. Zarla is free to build and preview, and you pay when you publish, on the Premium plan. Each price is the builder's own, read on its pricing or help pages (October 17, 2026); check it for your country before you buy.
GoDaddy's Airo has an inbox and payments, invoices through QuickBooks or FreshBooks, and no quotes. Wix has Price Quotes that clients accept online and that can turn into an invoice. Zarla sends a quote as one link: the customer picks an option, ticks any extras and accepts it, and Zarla drafts the invoice for what they chose, with any deposit you asked for, ready for you to send. Durable sends invoices and takes payments; its help pages document no quotes. Hostinger's builder keeps contacts and makes invoices for store orders, and has no quotes. WordPress.com needs a quote plugin from another company. Webflow has a form inbox and store checkout, and no quotes or invoices. Framer has forms, and no quotes, invoices or payments built in. Lovable has payments built in; a leads inbox, quotes and invoices are yours to build. Squarespace sends estimates and proposals with an Accept button, from its Basic plan. Job-management software such as Jobber and Housecall Pro goes further: the customer can pay the deposit as they approve the quote. We read each builder's quoting on its own pages on October 4, 2026 (GoDaddy Airo's, Framer's, Hostinger's, Webflow's, Durable's and Lovable's on October 17, 2026), and re-checked it on October 17, 2026.
Yes: GoDaddy Airo placed joint first of ten here, with 16 of 18 points. It gets a tick on "Finished first draft", "AI designs it too", "Edit by chat, new pages by AI", "From draft to live, no setup", "Online booking", "SEO basics done for you" and "Yours if you leave". The catch: booking needs the Professional plan, there are no quotes, invoices come through QuickBooks or FreshBooks, and the free plan builds and previews but can't publish. It's a different product from GoDaddy's Websites + Marketing builder.
