The short answer

A standard bounce house rents for $150 to $300 for a 4- to 8-hour party in New Jersey, a themed unit $175 to $325, a combo with a slide $250 to $450, a water slide $300 to $600 and an obstacle course $350 to $700 or more (Fun Time Entertainment, July 2026). In Virginia, delivered and set up, a toddler unit is $125 to $175 and a standard 13 × 13 or 15 × 15 bounce house $150 to $250 (Jump Around, October 2026); in Tulsa, a basic bounce house is $125 to $160 a day (Galaxy Jumpers, read November 2026).

Tents are priced by size and type: a 20 × 20 frame tent $600 and a 20 × 40 $900 an event on a tent maker's figures (American Tent, June 2025), while a Dallas–Fort Worth rental company lists its 20 × 20 frame tent at $345 for up to 8 hours (Inflatable Party Magic). Folding chairs rent for $1.50 to $3 each, Chiavari chairs $6 to $12, and 6- or 8-foot tables $8 to $12 (CV Linens, October 2026).

The extras are their own lines — overnight $75 and a park delivery fee of $100 (Inflatable Party Magic), an attendant from $135 for four hours (Sky High Party Rentals), an optional damage waiver — a fee covering accidental damage — of 9% of the rental (Sky High). Set the base rate so a unit earns back its purchase price in 8 to 12 rentals (Booqable). “Bounce house rental prices” is Googled about 880 times a month and “how much does it cost to rent a bounce house” about 1,000 (DataForSEO, November 2026).

Many companies set a $150–$300 minimum on delivered orders (Booqable); delivery outside your radius and sales tax come on top.

THE PRICING FORMULA

How to price a party rental business

Six steps from what a unit cost you to the price list on your website.

01

Start from the unit's purchase price

A standard bounce house costs about $1,800, a water slide combo $3,500 and an obstacle course $5,000–$8,000 (Booqable, June 2026); a 13-foot bounce house sells for $1,295 and a 5-in-1 combo for $2,799 (HullaBalloo Sales). A 20 × 40 frame tent is about $5,600 to buy (American Tent, June 2025).

02

Set a payback target

Aim to earn back the purchase price in 8 to 12 rentals (Booqable); a standard unit pays off in about 9 to 12 (Booqable, June 2026). Commercial inflatables last 5 to 7 years with care (HullaBalloo Sales) — everything after payback is margin.

03

Carry insurance and running costs

In the US, general liability averages $75 a month, $904 a year (MoneyGeek, October 2026); JIM puts $1–$2 million of cover at $1,500–$3,000 a year (August 2026). Spread it over the rentals you'll actually book — 1 to 2 a week on average (HullaBalloo Sales) — and check what your state requires.

04

Check the rate against your market

Anchor on your own margin first, then sanity-check against the local market (Booqable). Standard units run $150–$300 in New Jersey, $150–$250 in Virginia and $125–$160 in Tulsa; JIM puts a 13 × 13 at $150–$350 and a gross margin of 60%–75% a rental.

05

Price the extra day, the delivery and the extras

Booqable's multipliers: 1.3–1.5× for two to three days, 1.5–1.8× for a weekend, 2.5–3.0× for a week; a flat delivery fee within 15–25 miles, then per mile; a $150–$300 minimum order. Overnight $75 and park delivery $100 at Inflatable Party Magic.

06

Publish the list and the deposit

One price list — each unit, tents by size, tables and chairs, delivery and the extras — on your website, with the deposit: 20% down at Galaxy Jumpers, 15% or $50, whichever is greater, at Inflatable Party Magic, 50% at Sky High Party Rentals.

The formula, worked through

Say a standard bounce house bought for $1,800 (Booqable). Paying it back in 10 rentals — inside Booqable's 8 to 12 — means $180 a rental toward the unit. Booked 1.5 times a week over 50 weeks, the middle of HullaBalloo's 1 to 2, it rents about 75 times a year; $2,000 of liability cover, inside JIM's $1,500–$3,000, is about $27 a rental. That's about $207 a rental before fuel and your time. The inputs are the publishers'; the arithmetic is ours.

At $225 for a 4- to 8-hour party — inside New Jersey's $150–$300 band and Virginia's $150–$250 — the unit clears about $198 a rental after insurance and pays for itself in about nine rentals, then earns that for the rest of its 5- to 7-year life. A combo bought for $2,799 (HullaBalloo Sales) at $350, inside the $250–$450 combo band, pays off in about nine rentals too.

So “bounce houses from $225, combos from $350, overnight $75” is a fair line for this company's website. Your unit prices, your insurance and your weekends are what make the number yours.

What to charge in your part of the country

The same standard bounce house is $150–$300 for a party in New Jersey (Fun Time Entertainment, July 2026), $150–$250 delivered in Virginia (Jump Around, October 2026) and $125–$160 a day in Tulsa (Galaxy Jumpers). May through September is peak season, when Saturdays book first (Jump Around). The Bureau of Economic Analysis puts overall prices in California at 110.7 against a US average of 100 and Arkansas at 86.9 (2024 regional price parities, released February 2026) — so a $200 rental in an average market is about $221 in California and about $174 in Arkansas.

In the US, inflatables are regulated state by state. New Jersey requires a current annual ride permit from the Department of Community Affairs for any inflatable advertised or operated for public use, at a public or a private event (DCA notice, June 2025); Texas requires a ride to be inspected at least once a year by an insurer and sets minimum insurance — $1,000,000 bodily injury and $500,000 property damage per occurrence for Class B rides (Texas Occupations Code §2151.101). Tents have their own rule: New York's fire code requires a permit for a tent over 400 square feet, with an exemption for tents open on all sides up to 700 square feet (Cornell EHS). Check your state's amusement-ride office and your city's fire marshal before you price a unit or a tent.

Outside the US, treat the ranges as a shape, not a price — a unit price per event, the extra day and delivery as their own lines, and a rate that pays the unit back in a season hold everywhere — and check what local hire companies list on their own websites, and your local rules.

Put your prices on your website

A price list — even “from” prices — answers a customer's first question before they pick up the phone, and it's the line an AI assistant can quote when someone asks what a bounce house rental costs near them.

If you build your site with Zarla, tell the editor “add a pricing section: bounce houses from $225, combos from $350, overnight $75” and your prices go on the site, in a section you can edit any time. Bounce house rental prices: common questions

How much should I charge for a bounce house rental?

$150–$300 for a standard bounce house for a 4- to 8-hour party in New Jersey (Fun Time Entertainment, July 2026), $150–$250 delivered in Virginia (Jump Around, October 2026), $125–$160 a day in Tulsa (Galaxy Jumpers). JIM puts a standard 13 × 13 at $150–$350 (August 2026). The calculator above prices any unit with the extras.

How much do combos, water slides and obstacle courses rent for?

A combo with a slide $250–$450, a water slide $300–$600, an obstacle course $350–$700 or more and an interactive game $300–$650 (Fun Time Entertainment, July 2026). In Virginia a dry combo is $250–$400 and a wet combo or water slide $300–$550 (Jump Around).

How much should I charge for a second day or a weekend?

Booqable's multipliers of the one-day rate: 1.3–1.5× for two to three days, 1.5–1.8× for a weekend and 2.5–3.0× for a week. Inflatable Party Magic charges $75 for overnight and half price for a second day; Galaxy Jumpers takes 50% off each additional day.

How much do tent rentals cost by size?

On a tent maker's figures, a 20 × 20 tent is $450 pole or $600 frame per event, a 20 × 40 $750 or $900, and a 40 × 60 $2,100 or $2,700 (American Tent, June 2025). Live lists run lower: a Dallas–Fort Worth company rents its 20 × 20 frame tent for $345 for up to 8 hours (Inflatable Party Magic). Sidewalls, weights or string lights add $15–$40 each (Booqable).

How much should I charge for tables and chairs?

Plastic folding chairs $1.50–$3 each, Chiavari chairs $6–$12, 6- or 8-foot rectangular tables $8–$12 and 48- or 60-inch rounds $10–$15 (CV Linens, October 2026). Linens add $10–$25 each, per event (Booqable).

How many rentals does it take to pay off a bounce house?

Booqable's rule is 8 to 12 rentals, and a standard unit at about $1,800 pays off in about 9 to 12 (June 2026). Commercial units last 5 to 7 years with care (HullaBalloo Sales), and the average is 1 to 2 rentals a week — so a unit that pays back in a season earns for years after.

How much does bounce house insurance cost?

General liability averages $75 a month, $904 a year, and commercial auto about $2,339 a year (MoneyGeek, October 2026); JIM puts $1–$2 million of cover at $1,500–$3,000 a year (August 2026). In the US, inspection and insurance rules are set state by state — Texas, for one, requires state-minimum insurance and an annual inspection by an insurer (Texas Occupations Code §2151.101). Check your state's amusement-ride office, or your local rules elsewhere.

Should I put my rental prices on my website?

Yes — each unit's price, tents by size, tables and chairs, and the delivery radius, listed plainly. Parents compare prices before they book, and a published price list is what ranks for the rental-price searches. On a Zarla site, tell the editor “add a pricing section” with your prices, and change them before the summer season.
