The short answer

A driveway clear runs $30 to $75 a visit and $300 to $700 for the season (Housecall Pro, October 2026). By size: $40–$75 a push for a single-car driveway, $75–$125 for a two-car and $125–$250 for a four-car; seasonal contracts $300–$400, $400–$600 and $600–$1,000 for the same three.

Sidewalks and walkways are $40–$80 a visit, salting or de-icing $20–$40, roof snow clearing $200–$700 and ice-dam removal $650–$2,400 (Housecall Pro). Commercial lots run $75–$200 an event or $500–$2,000 a season. Depth moves the price: up to 6 inches $75–$150, 6–12 inches $105–$200, 12–18 inches $135–$250, or $12.50–$25 per inch for the first six and $5–$8.50 an inch after.

Lawn Love puts the average at $105 a visit and $700 a season, with most homeowners paying $45–$160 a visit or $300–$1,000 for the season (October 2026); Taskrabbit's taskers average $41 an hour, with per-visit work at $50–$200 (October 2026). Hourly: $25–$75 for shoveling and snow-blowing, $50–$100 for plowing, $50–$200 for commercial plowing (Housecall Pro).

Sell the season: a contract paid up front covers the truck payment in a dry winter, and a per-push price with a depth surcharge covers the storms. Put both on your website before the first forecast — January's searches for snow removal pricing run five times October's (Google search volume, DataForSEO, October 2026).

THE PRICING FORMULA

How to price snow removal

Six steps from the driveway to the number on your contract.

01

Size the driveway

Single-car, two-car or four-car-and-long is the trade's unit: $40–$75, $75–$125 and $125–$250 a push (Housecall Pro). Walk it in autumn and note the piling spots before the snow hides the edges.

02

Set a trigger depth and a depth surcharge

Write the trigger depth into the contract. Past 6 inches the price steps up — $105–$200 for 6–12 inches, $135–$250 for 12–18 against $75–$150 under six (Housecall Pro) — or charge $12.50–$25 an inch for the first six.

03

Offer the season

$300–$400 for a single-car, $400–$600 two-car, $600–$1,000 large (Housecall Pro) — roughly eight to ten pushes paid up front. It carries the truck in a dry winter; cap the visits or add a heavy-season clause.

04

Price salt separately

Salting or de-icing is $20–$40 a visit (Housecall Pro), $20–$50 on Lawn Love. Salt is a cost you can't predict a season ahead, so keep it a per-application line.

05

Charge commercial by the event or the season

$75–$200 an event or $500–$2,000 a season for a parking lot, $50–$200 an hour for commercial plowing (Housecall Pro). Lots need a sidewalk crew and a salt plan — price both.

06

Keep roofs and ice dams as their own jobs

Roof snow clearing is $200–$700 and ice-dam removal $650–$2,400 (Housecall Pro) — different tools, different insurance; never fold them into a driveway price.

The formula, worked through

Say a two-car driveway with a front walk, 9 inches of snow, salt afterwards.

A two-car push is $75–$125 (Housecall Pro). Nine inches sits in the 6–12 inch band, about 33% to 40% above a sub-six-inch clear on Housecall Pro's depth table, so $100–$175. The walkway adds $40–$80 and salting $20–$40.

That's about $160–$295 for the storm. For the same house on a season contract, $400–$600 covers the driveway, with the walk and the salt either in the price or as lines. So “driveway plowing from $75 a push, seasons from $400” is a fair line for your price list. The arithmetic is ours; the rates are the publisher's.

What to charge in your part of the country

Lawn Love's seasonal range runs from $70 at the low end to $6,000 at the high — the difference between a light-snow town and a lake-effect one with a long driveway (October 2026). Taskrabbit's average is $41 an hour nationally, with parking lots $100–$500 or more a visit and roofs $200–$500 (October 2026).

Across all prices, the Bureau of Economic Analysis puts California at 110.7 against a US average of 100 and Arkansas at 86.9 (2024 regional price parities, released February 2026) — so a $100 push in an average market is about $110 in California and about $87 in Arkansas.

What matters more than the state is the snow: average annual snowfall sets how many pushes a season buys, and that sets the seasonal price. Price the season from your town's ten-year average, not last winter.

Snow removal pricing: common questions

How much should I charge to plow a driveway?

$40–$75 a push for a single-car driveway, $75–$125 for a two-car and $125–$250 for a four-car or long one (Housecall Pro, October 2026); Taskrabbit puts a single-car at $40–$80 and a two-car at $50–$100 (October 2026). The calculator above uses Housecall Pro's bands.

How much should I charge for a seasonal snow removal contract?

$300–$400 for a single-car driveway, $400–$600 for a two-car and $600–$1,000 for a large one (Housecall Pro, October 2026). Lawn Love's homeowners pay $300–$1,000 for the season, $700 on average (October 2026). Price it as eight to ten pushes paid up front, and cap the visits.

How much extra for deep snow?

Housecall Pro prices up to 6 inches at $75–$150, 6–12 inches at $105–$200 and 12–18 inches at $135–$250 — or $12.50–$25 an inch for the first six and $5–$8.50 an inch after (October 2026). Lawn Love's per-inch is $10–$25 then $4–$9.

What should I charge for salting?

$20–$40 an application (Housecall Pro), $20–$50 on Lawn Love and $25–$75 on Taskrabbit (all October 2026). Keep it a separate line — salt prices move within a season.

How much should I charge per hour for snow removal?

$25–$75 an hour for shoveling or snow-blowing, $50–$100 for plowing and $50–$200 for commercial plowing (Housecall Pro, October 2026); Taskrabbit's taskers average $41 an hour. Hourly suits odd jobs; driveways are priced per push.

How much do commercial snow removal contracts pay?

$75–$200 an event or $500–$2,000 a season for a parking lot (Housecall Pro, October 2026); Taskrabbit puts commercial seasonal contracts at $1,000–$6,000 and parking lots at $100–$500 or more a visit (October 2026). Price the sidewalks and the salt plan in.

What should I charge to clear snow off a roof?

$200–$700 a job (Housecall Pro), $190–$735 on Lawn Love and up to $3,000 for a large steep roof; ice-dam removal $650–$2,400 (Housecall Pro, October 2026). Different tools and different insurance — price it as its own job.

Should I put my snow removal prices on my website?

Yes — the per-push price by driveway size, the seasonal price and the salting rule. Searches for snow removal pricing run five times higher in January than in October (DataForSEO, October 2026), and the owner who prints a price gets the call. On a Zarla site, tell the editor “add a pricing section” with your rates, and change them when the season changes.
