The short answer
Blinds supplied and installed cost $109 to $198 a window, $151 on average; Fixr's summary puts the low end at $26 and the high end at $389 a window, and says a job can run over $400 a window (January 2025). Size moves the price: $26–$47 for a 24-by-24-inch window, $78–$142 for 36 by 48 and $196–$356 for 60 by 72, and replacing old blinds costs a little more than fitting an empty frame — $86–$156 at 36 by 48. Homewyse's national estimate starts at $145 to $339 for a single blind, with the blind, the labor, the job supplies and a two-hour labor minimum in it (May 2026).
Shutters are priced by the square foot or by the piece. Custom shutters run $20 to $45 a square foot with materials and labor; interior plantation shutters $150 to $400 a pair for the shutters alone; manual shutters $300 to $700 a pair installed and motorized ones $500 to $1,000 (Fixr, August 2025). Fixr's typical whole project is $2,000 to $4,000, $2,400 on average.
Labor is $60 to $100 an hour, with one to two hours a shutter, and taking away old shutters adds $25 to $100 (Fixr). On TaskRabbit, blinds installation is booked under its Mounting category, which averages $38 an hour nationally and $123 to $184 an invoice across the ten cities it lists (updated November 2026).
Then put the prices on your website: “cost to install blinds” is Googled about 1,000 times a month, “how much do blinds cost” is put to AI assistants about 2,800 times and “how much to charge for blind installation” about 200 (DataForSEO, October 2026).

ADD-ONS AND ADJUSTMENTS
What labor and the take-away add
The labor row is Fixr's one to two hours a shutter at $60–$100 an hour, for the two shutters of a pair, worked by us; the removal row is Fixr's disposal fee for old shutters (August 2025).
| What | Typical US price · source |
|---|---|
| Installation labor for the pair | 2 shutters × 1–2 hours × $60–$100 an hour = +$120–$400 · Fixr rate |
| Taking away the old shutters | +$25–$100 · Fixr |

THE PRICING FORMULA
How to price blinds and shutters installation
Six steps from the window list to a price you can put on your website.
Measure, then price by size
A 24-by-24-inch window runs $26–$47 supplied and installed; a 60-by-72-inch one $196–$356 (Fixr, January 2025). Price the house window by window from the measure, not from a flat number per room.
Know the typical window
$109–$198 a window is the typical range, $151 on average (Fixr). Homewyse's national estimate for a single blind, with the labor, the supplies and a two-hour minimum, starts at $145–$339 (May 2026). A one-blind job carries that minimum, so price a single blind as its own visit. Your supplier's price for the blind sets where in that band you sit.
Charge more to replace
Taking down and replacing old blinds costs more than fitting an empty frame — $86–$156 against $78–$142 at 36 by 48 inches (Fixr). Ask on the call whether old blinds are coming down.
Price shutters by the foot
Custom shutters run $20–$45 a square foot with materials and labor; a pair of interior plantation shutters $150–$400 before labor (Fixr, August 2025). A per-foot price lets a customer price a whole house from a tape measure.
Time the labor
Shutter labor is $60–$100 an hour at one to two hours a shutter, and taking away old shutters adds $25–$100 (Fixr). TaskRabbit's Mounting category, where blinds are booked, averages $38 an hour nationally (updated November 2026) — a handyman benchmark, not a specialist's.
Put motorized on its own line
Motorized shutters run $500–$1,000 installed against $300–$700 a pair for manual ones (Fixr). Price the motor, the wiring or the battery and the programming apart, so the manual option stays visible.
A whole house, worked through
Say a homeowner wants blinds on eight windows. At Fixr's typical $109–$198 a window that's about $870–$1,585 supplied and installed. If six of the eight are 36 by 48 inches ($78–$142 each) and two are 60 by 72 ($196–$356 each), the size-by-size total is $860–$1,564.
The same eight windows in custom shutters at 15 square feet each — a 36-by-60-inch window — is 120 square feet at $20–$45, or $2,400–$5,400, against Fixr's typical project of $2,000–$4,000. The labor inside that is eight shutters at one to two hours and $60–$100 an hour: $480–$1,600.
So “blinds from $109 a window installed, shutters from $20 a square foot, motorized options on request” is a fair first line for your price list. The figures are the publishers'; the window mix and the sums are ours.
What to charge where you install
TaskRabbit's city table for its Mounting category, which blinds installation falls under, shows how far the same work moves: $85 an hour in New York City, $68 in the SF Bay Area and Boston, $67 in Chicago and Washington, DC, $59 in Seattle, $58 in Austin, $57 in Denver, $49 in Los Angeles and Orange County and $47 in Miami, against $38 nationally; the average invoice runs from $123 in Los Angeles to $184 in the Bay Area (updated November 2026). The Bureau of Economic Analysis's 2024 regional price parities put California at 110.7 and Arkansas at 86.9 against a US average of 100 (released February 2026) — about $167 and $131 for a $151 window.
In the US, whether a blinds installer needs a contractor's or a home-improvement license is set by state and sometimes by city, and whether your state taxes installation labor as well as the blinds is set the same way — check your state's rules and confirm the tax line with your accountant.
Outside the US, treat the dollar figures as a shape, not a price: blinds by the window and its size, shutters by the square foot, the motor on its own line, labor by the hour and the take-away apart hold everywhere. Check what the installers near you publish.
Put your prices on your website
A price list — even “from” prices — answers a customer's first question before they pick up the phone, and it's the line an AI assistant can quote when someone asks what blinds installation costs near them.
If you build your site with Zarla, tell the editor “add a pricing section: blinds from $109 a window installed, shutters from $20 a square foot, motorized options on request” and your prices go on the site, in a section you can edit any time. Blinds and shutters installation cost: common questions
$109–$198 a window supplied and installed, $151 on average, with Fixr's summary running from $26 to $389 and a job sometimes over $400 a window (January 2025); Homewyse's national estimate starts at $145–$339 for a single blind with a two-hour labor minimum (May 2026). The calculator above prices a job by the window, by its size or by the blind.
Price by the window's size: $26–$47 at 24 by 24 inches, $78–$142 at 36 by 48 and $196–$356 at 60 by 72, with the blind and its hardware included (Fixr). If the customer supplies the blinds, price the labor by the hour instead.
Custom shutters run $20–$45 a square foot with materials and labor; interior plantation shutters $150–$400 a pair for the shutters alone, plus $60–$100 an hour of labor at one to two hours a shutter (Fixr, August 2025). Fixr's typical whole project is $2,000–$4,000.
Fixr puts shutter installation labor at $60–$100 an hour (August 2025). TaskRabbit's Mounting category, which blinds installation falls under, averages $38 an hour nationally and $47–$85 in the ten cities it lists (updated November 2026).
Yes — Fixr's replacement prices run a little above a first fit at every size: $43–$78 against $39–$71 at 24 by 36 inches, and $171–$311 against $157–$285 at 48 by 72 (January 2025).
Motorized shutters run $500–$1,000 installed against $300–$700 a pair for manual ones (Fixr, August 2025). For blinds, TaskRabbit's estimate for installing motorized blinds is $300–$600 — the page doesn't say per blind or per job — and Fixr says motorized blinds typically cost a couple hundred dollars more than manual ones. Put the motor on its own line so the customer sees both prices.
Yes — a price per window and per square foot tells a homeowner whether to book the measure, and it's the line an AI assistant can quote. On a Zarla site, tell the editor “add a pricing section” with your prices, and change them when your supplier's do.
