The short answer

Florists price an arrangement from its recipe: the wholesale cost of the fresh flowers and foliage marked up about 3.5 times, the container and other hard goods about 2.5 times, and a labor fee of 25% of the retail price of those materials — Florists' Review's rule of thumb, which turns $20 of flowers and a $10 container into a $118.75 arrangement (January 2024). Its wider bands are 3x to 5x on fresh product and 2x to 2.5x on hard goods, with labor often starting at 20%.

Weddings are priced by the piece. Joy's 2026 ranges are $150 to $350 for a classic bridal bouquet and $400 to $600 for a large, lush one, $65 to $120 a bridesmaid bouquet, $20 to $45 a boutonniere, $35 to $75 a corsage, $75 to $200 a low centerpiece and $200 to $600 or more a tall one, and $500 to $2,500 for a ceremony arch or chuppah, depending on size and complexity (July 2026). Sympathy work runs $100 to $800 for a casket spray, $100 to $500 for a standing spray and $50 to $250 for a bouquet (Everplans).

Everyday work sells against the national sites: across every occasion, the median delivered bouquet across 5,365 live listings at nine US online florists is $67.99, the middle half $56.25 to $85.50 (SendFlowers.io's price index, November 2026), and their median delivery fee is $19.99 (its fee report). For the holidays, FTD's suggested delivered retail for its member florists steps each of its eight projected December best sellers through three or four sizes — $55, $70, $85 and $115 for one of them.

Check every price against the Society of American Florists' benchmarks — cost of goods no more than 33% of the retail price, payroll no more than 30% of sales with the owner on it, facilities no more than 10% (May 2025) — then put “from” prices on your website: “florist pricing” is Googled about 590 times a month, and “how much do florists charge” is put to AI assistants about 180 times (DataForSEO, October 2026).

THE PRICING FORMULA

How to price a floral arrangement

Six steps from the wholesale stem to the number on the price list — and the wedding priced the same way, piece by piece.

01

Cost the recipe

Count every stem, the foliage, the container and the supplies at what you paid your wholesaler. That's the cost of goods: the Society of American Florists counts the flowers, foliage, container and supplies together (May 2025).

02

Mark up fresh and hard goods apart

Florists' Review's rule of thumb is 3.5 times wholesale on fresh flowers and foliage and 2.5 times on hard goods; its wider bands run 3x–5x on fresh product and 2x–2.5x on hard goods (January 2024).

03

Add labor as a percentage

Florists' Review adds 25% of the retail price of the materials as the labor fee, and notes the labor charge often starts at 20% and goes up from there. Hours of on-site wedding setup deserve their own line.

04

Check the cost of goods

SAF's benchmark is cost of goods no more than 33% of the retail price, payroll no more than 30% of sales with the owner on it, facilities no more than 10% (May 2025); Florists' Review puts the cost of goods at 30%–35% at most.

05

Offer three price points

Florists' Review suggests standard, deluxe and premium versions of every design on your standard menu. FTD's suggested delivered retail for its member florists steps the same way: $55, $70, $85 and $115 for one December 2026 design.

06

Price the wedding piece by piece

Quote each bouquet, boutonniere and centerpiece at its own price (Joy's 2026 ranges are in the table), then multiply the centerpieces by the tables. Joy puts the flowers at 8%–10% of a couple's total budget — $2,400–$3,000 for a $30,000 wedding.

The formula, worked through

Florists' Review's own example: $20 of fresh flowers and foliage at 3.5 times is $70; a $10 container and supplies at 2.5 times is $25; labor at 25% of that $95 is $23.75 — $118.75 for the arrangement (January 2024).

Check it against the Society of American Florists' ceiling: $30 of materials is about 25% of $118.75, under its 33% line for the cost of goods. If the same recipe came out above 33%, the markup is too thin or the recipe too generous for the price.

A wedding the same way, at Joy's ranges: a classic bridal bouquet ($150–$350), four bridesmaid bouquets ($260–$480), six boutonnieres ($120–$270) and ten low centerpieces ($750–$2,000) come to $1,280–$3,100 before the ceremony arch — next to Joy's $1,500–$2,500 for what the average couple spends on flowers. So “bridal bouquets from $150, centerpieces from $75, holiday arrangements from $55, sympathy bouquets from $50” is a fair line for your price list. The ranges are the publishers'; the sums are ours.

What to charge in your part of the country — and in which week

The Bureau of Economic Analysis puts overall prices in California at 110.7 against a US average of 100 and Arkansas at 86.9 (2024 regional price parities, released February 2026) — so a $118.75 arrangement in an average market is about $131 in California and about $103 in Arkansas.

The calendar moves the work as much as the map: Mother's Day alone is 24% of the dollars spent across the flower-buying holidays the Society of American Florists ranks (its holiday table, from IPSOS floral tracking data, gives no year). Set the holiday menu and its sizes before the week, from the same recipe arithmetic, rather than repricing at the cooler door.

In the US, whether sales tax applies to an arrangement, and to the delivery charge on it, is set state by state, and an order you pass to a florist in another state through a wire service can be taxed differently from one you deliver yourself. Check your state revenue department's guidance for florists and confirm the tax lines with your accountant.

Outside the US, treat the dollar ranges as a shape, not a price: the recipe marked up by material, labor as its own percentage, three sizes of every design and weddings quoted piece by piece hold everywhere. Check what the shops near you list on their own sites.

Put your prices on your website

A price list — even “from” prices — answers a customer's first question before they pick up the phone, and it's the line an AI assistant can quote when someone asks what a flower arrangement costs near them.

If you build your site with Zarla, tell the editor “add a pricing section: bridal bouquets from $150, centerpieces from $75, holiday arrangements from $55, sympathy bouquets from $50” and your prices go on the site, in a section you can edit any time. Florist pricing: common questions

How do florists price arrangements?

From the recipe: fresh flowers and foliage at about 3.5 times wholesale, the container and supplies at about 2.5 times, plus a labor fee of 25% of those materials' retail price — Florists' Review's rule of thumb, which makes $20 of flowers and a $10 container a $118.75 arrangement (January 2024). The calculator above covers weddings, everyday and sympathy work.

What markup do florists use?

Commonly 3x to 5x wholesale on fresh product and 2x to 2.5x on hard goods, with a labor charge often starting at 20%; the rule of thumb is 3.5x fresh, 2.5x hard goods and 25% labor (Florists' Review, January 2024). Whatever the multiplier, the Society of American Florists' check is the same: cost of goods no more than 33% of the retail price (May 2025).

How much should I charge for a bridal bouquet?

$150–$350 for a classic cascade or round bouquet and $400–$600 for a large, lush design; bridesmaid bouquets $65–$120 each, boutonnieres $20–$45 and corsages $35–$75 (Joy, July 2026).

How much should I charge for wedding centerpieces?

$75–$200 for a low centerpiece and $200–$600 or more for a tall one (Joy, July 2026) — ten tables of low centerpieces is $750–$2,000 before delivery and setup. A ceremony arch or chuppah runs $500–$2,500, depending on size and complexity.

How much should I charge for funeral flowers?

Everplans' ranges are $100–$800 for a casket spray, $100–$500 for a standing spray and $50–$250 for a bouquet. Online, the median delivered sympathy bouquet at the nine big US florists is $63.75 (SendFlowers.io, November 2026).

Should I charge for delivery?

The national sites do: their median delivery fee is $19.99, and only 2.16% of their bouquets fold delivery into the advertised price (SendFlowers.io's fee report, November 2026). Show your fee, or your free-delivery area, next to the arrangement price.

How much do floral designers earn?

The median floral designer earns $17.96 an hour, $37,360 a year (O*NET, 2025 wages). That's the cost your labor percentage has to cover — the reason the labor fee belongs on every recipe, not just the big ones.

Should I put my florist prices on my website?

Yes — a “from” price for arrangements, bridal bouquets and sympathy pieces answers the first question before the order, and it's the line an AI assistant can quote. On a Zarla site, tell the editor “add a pricing section” with your prices, and change them when your menu does.
