The short answer
Typical washer vend prices are $3 for a 20 lb machine, $5 for 40 lb, $7 for 60 lb and $9 for 80 lb (Cents, June 2026), and a self-service load washed and dried brings a store $4.50 to $8.00 (Cents, July 2026). Dryer income typically runs a third to a half of washer revenue.
Wash-and-fold is priced by the pound: $1.50 to $3.50 a pound with pickup and delivery (Cents, July 2026), $1.45 to $2.95 a pound in-store (CleanCloud, August 2024). Pickup and delivery orders average $25 to $50 (CleanCloud), and wash-and-fold is 20% to 40% of a store's revenue, more in dense markets (Cents).
The dryer question has two honest answers: charge per minute, or build drying into the wash price — Huebsch's free-dry model gives a 20 lb washer about 20 free minutes and a 60 lb washer 45 to 50, with extra minutes paid, and notes most loads dry in 30 to 40 minutes.
Price the big machines highest — a comforter or three loads at once is the job a home washer can't do — keep the small ones competitive, and put the vend prices and the per-pound rate on your website, because the customer deciding between two laundromats is comparing exactly that.

RATES · OCTOBER 2026
Laundromat prices (2026)
By the pound for services, by the load for self-service. Cents' June 2026 vend-price benchmarks for context: $3 for a 20 lb washer, $5 for 40 lb, $7 for 60 lb, $9 for 80 lb — single figures, not ranges — with dryer income typically a third of washer revenue.
| The job | Typical US price · source |
|---|---|
| Wash-and-fold, per pound | $1.50–$3.50 per lb · about $30–$70 for 20 lb · Cents |
| Self-service load, washed and dried | $4.50–$8 per load · about $5–$8 for 1 load · Cents |
| Drop-off wash-and-fold, per pound | $1.45–$2.95 per lb · about $29–$59 for 20 lb · CleanCloud |

ADD-ONS AND ADJUSTMENTS
What to add for pickup and delivery
The route is its own line; the per-pound rate already covers the wash and the fold.

THE PRICING FORMULA
How to price a laundromat
Six steps from the machine mix to the numbers on the wall and the website.
Price by machine size
Cents' benchmarks step up with capacity: $3 at 20 lb, $5 at 40 lb, $7 at 60 lb, $9 at 80 lb (June 2026). The big machines earn the most per square foot — a comforter is the job a home washer can't do.
Know what a load brings in
A self-service load washed and dried earns $4.50–$8.00 depending on the market (Cents, July 2026). Multiply by your turns per day — Cents puts the average at three, two to three in low-density towns, four to six in cities.
Decide the dryer model
Charge per minute, or build drying into the wash: Huebsch's free-dry model gives 20 free minutes with a 20 lb washer and 45–50 with a 60 lb, extra minutes paid. Dryer income is typically a third to a half of washer revenue (Cents).
Price wash-and-fold by the pound
$1.45–$2.95 a pound in-store (CleanCloud) and $1.50–$3.50 with pickup and delivery (Cents). It's 20%–40% of revenue in a typical store — a second business inside the first.
Charge for the route
Pickup and delivery orders average $25–$50 (CleanCloud). Set a minimum order and a delivery line so a ten-pound bag doesn't cost you the drive.
Check the margin
Cents puts a laundromat's margin at 20%–35%, with utilities 20%–30% of revenue and rent 15%–25%. Price rises of a quarter on the big machines move the whole store; test them on the 60 lb washers first.
The formula, worked through
Say a 25-pound wash-and-fold bag, picked up and delivered.
25 lb at $1.50–$3.50 a pound (Cents, July 2026) is about $38–$88. Pickup and delivery adds $25–$50 an order (CleanCloud) — or you set a per-pound rate that includes the route and a minimum order of, say, 15 lb.
Against that, a self-service customer doing the same 25 lb in a 40 lb washer pays about $5 for the wash (Cents' benchmark) and a few dollars for the dryer. So “wash-and-fold from $1.50 a pound, self-service from $3” is a fair line for your price list. The arithmetic is ours; the rates are the publishers'.
What to charge in your part of the country
Cents' per-load range — $4.50 in a low-density market to $8.00 in a dense one — is mostly rent and utilities, and its monthly revenue bands follow: $5,000–$12,000 for a small store, $12,000–$25,000 mid-size, $25,000–$50,000 or more for a large urban one (June 2026).
Across all prices, the Bureau of Economic Analysis puts California at 110.7 against a US average of 100 and Arkansas at 86.9 (2024 regional price parities, released February 2026) — so a $5 wash in an average market is about $5.50 in California and about $4.35 in Arkansas.
The real yardstick is the store a mile away: match its small-machine prices, beat it on the big machines and on wash-and-fold turnaround, and print both on your website.
Put your prices on your website
A price list — even “from” prices — answers a customer's first question before they pick up the phone, and it's the line an AI assistant can quote when someone asks what a laundromat costs near them.
If you build your site with Zarla, tell the editor “add a pricing section: washers from $3, wash-and-fold from $1.50 a pound, pickup and delivery from $25” and your prices go on the site, in a section you can edit any time. Laundromat pricing: common questions
Vend prices by machine size: about $3 for a 20 lb washer, $5 for 40 lb, $7 for 60 lb and $9 for 80 lb (Cents, June 2026). A load washed and dried brings the store $4.50–$8.00 depending on the market (Cents, July 2026).
$1.45–$2.95 a pound in-store (CleanCloud, August 2024) and $1.50–$3.50 a pound with pickup and delivery (Cents, July 2026). The calculator above prices a bag at either rate.
Orders average $25–$50 with a one- to two-day turnaround (CleanCloud, August 2024) — a per-pound rate of $1.50–$3.50 plus a delivery line or a minimum order (Cents, July 2026). Set the minimum so a small bag covers the drive.
Two models: per minute, or drying built into the wash price. Huebsch's free-dry model gives a 20 lb washer about 20 free minutes and a 60 lb washer 45–50, with extra minutes paid, and notes most loads dry in 30–40 minutes. Either way, dryer income typically runs a third to a half of washer revenue (Cents, June 2026).
The biggest. Cents' benchmarks triple from the 20 lb to the 80 lb washer ($3 to $9), and the large machines earn the most per square foot because a comforter or three loads at once is the job a home washer can't do (June 2026).
20%–35% (Cents, June 2026; CleanCloud puts it at 20%–35% too), with utilities at 20%–30% of revenue, rent 15%–25% and labor 15%–30% if the store is staffed. Wash-and-fold at 20%–40% of revenue is where the margin grows.
Yes — the vend prices by machine, the per-pound rate and the delivery minimum. The customer choosing between two laundromats is comparing exactly those. On a Zarla site, tell the editor “add a pricing section” with your prices, and change them when the machines do.
