The short answer

Chiropractors charge $50 to $100 for a standard adjustment of one or two spinal regions and $75 to $150 for a full-spine adjustment, cash price — $75 to $100 a session for most patients, inside a $60 to $200 range (Hotaling Insurance Services, July 2026). CareCredit's national average for a manual spinal adjustment is $76, for a follow-up exam $76 ($60 to $140), and for the first consultation $152 ($121 to $281) (2024 cost study, read November 2026). CareRoute puts the cash average at about $95 an adjustment, $65 to $150 à la carte at an independent office (July 2026).

The first visit is priced on its own: $80 to $300 for the consultation and exam, plus $75 to $200 for X-rays when they're taken; a new-patient special runs $29 to $49 (Hotaling). The therapies are add-ons — spinal decompression $100 to $200 a session, cold laser $50 to $150, electrical stimulation $30 to $75, massage $50 to $120 (Hotaling); acupuncture $66 to $150 and dry needling $51 to $80 (CareCredit).

Prepaid packages of 10 or 12 visits bring the per-visit price down to $25 to $50, maintenance care runs $75 to $150 a month, and a franchise membership — The Joint's $69 to $89 a month for four visits — works out at $17 to $22 a visit (Hotaling); CareRoute puts franchise visits at $18 to $45. A full course of care: $450 to $900 for a simple acute injury, $1,000 to $3,000 a year for a chronic condition, $2,000 to $5,000 for rehabilitation after an accident (Hotaling).

What the practice collects is lower than the fee: Chiropractic Economics' fee survey put the average fee at $67.40 and the average reimbursement at $42.55 — 63% (March 2024) — and its 2025 salary survey (read November 2026) has the typical practice billing $723,024 and collecting $450,425, 62%. Price from your cost per visit (monthly expenses divided by monthly patient visits, with overhead put at over 55% in 2025 by the Illinois Chiropractic Society), then put the cash fee on your website: “chiropractic pricing” is Googled about 2,900 times a month and “how much does a chiropractor cost” about 4,400 (DataForSEO, October 2026).

THE PRICING FORMULA

How to price a chiropractic practice

Six steps from your cost per visit to the fee schedule on your website.

01

Work out your cost per visit

Monthly expenses ÷ monthly patient visits (Illinois Chiropractic Society, July 2025), with overhead estimated to average over 55% in 2025. Chiropractic Economics' 2025 survey puts a solo practice at about 91 patients a week, with an $18,819 lease, $8,154 of marketing and $2,374 of malpractice insurance a year among its costs.

02

Set the cash fee above the cost, inside the band

A standard adjustment is $50–$100 cash (Hotaling, July 2026), $76 on CareCredit's national average. Cash-only practices base their rate at $40–$80 a visit; insurance-billing offices list $80–$150 (Hotaling). A cash-only chiropractor averages about $57 a visit against about $70 at an insurance-billing office (CareRoute, July 2026).

03

Price the first visit on its own

$80–$300 for the consultation and exam, plus $75–$200 for X-rays when they're needed (Hotaling); CareCredit's average first consultation is $152, from $129 in Alabama and Oklahoma to $247 in Hawaii. A $29–$49 new-patient special is a marketing price, not the fee — say so on the price list.

04

Know what insurance actually pays

The average fee is $67.40 and the average reimbursement $42.55 — 63% (Chiropractic Economics, March 2024). Medicare's allowed amount is roughly $28 for a one-to-two-region adjustment, about $38 for three to four regions and about $48–$50 for all five (CareRoute, July 2026); the patient's copay is $20–$75 (Hotaling). An insurance-heavy practice needs the cash fee to carry what the contracts don't.

05

Build the package and the membership from the cash fee

A prepaid package of 10–12 visits at $25–$50 a visit, maintenance care at $75–$150 a month, a membership at $69–$89 for four visits a month (Hotaling); ChiroSpring's example is four wellness adjustments a month for $100 (January 2025). Prepaid bundles save the patient about 15% (CareRoute) — check each plan's per-visit price against step 1 before you print it.

06

Write the fee schedule down, then review it yearly

One price list — the cash fee per code, the first visit, X-rays, each therapy, the package and the membership — on paper and on your website. The Illinois Chiropractic Society's worked example is a $5 increase per visit, the equivalent of a thirteenth month of income over a year (July 2025).

The formula, worked through

Say a solo cash practice. Chiropractic Economics' 2025 survey has the typical solo practice collecting $269,303 a year and seeing about 91 patients a week; over 48 working weeks that's about 4,370 visits, or about $62 collected per visit. With overhead at 55% of collections — the Illinois Chiropractic Society's 2025 estimate — the practice's cost is about $34 a visit. The inputs are the publishers'; the arithmetic is ours.

A standard adjustment at $75 cash — inside Hotaling's $50–$100 band and near CareCredit's $76 average — leaves about $41 a visit before the doctor's own pay. A prepaid package of 12 visits at $45 a visit ($540 up front, inside the $25–$50 band) still clears the $34 cost. A franchise-style membership at $89 for four visits is $22 a visit — below this practice's cost per visit, which is why that price works at franchise volumes and not at 91 patients a week.

So “adjustments from $75, new-patient visit from $120” is a fair line for this practice's website, with the 12-visit package underneath it. Your lease, your staff and your visits per week are what make the number yours.

What to charge in your part of the country

The first consultation averages $152 nationally, from $129 in Alabama and Oklahoma to $207 in the District of Columbia and $247 in Hawaii (CareCredit's 2024 cost study, read November 2026). Hotaling puts an adjustment at $40–$80 in markets like Austin or Omaha and $100–$200 in Manhattan, San Francisco or Miami (July 2026); CareRoute's spread runs from about $37 in Austin to over $200 in Los Angeles. The Bureau of Economic Analysis puts overall prices in California at 110.7 against a US average of 100 and Arkansas at 86.9 (2024 regional price parities, released February 2026) — so a $75 adjustment in an average market is about $83 in California and about $65 in Arkansas.

In the US, chiropractors are licensed by the state board, and the rules on what you may advertise and discount — a new-patient special, a prepaid package, a membership sold as a discount plan — are set state by state and, for Medicare patients, by federal rules on routine discounts. Our guide to starting a chiropractic practice covers the license; check your state board's advertising rules before you publish a special or a membership price.

Outside the US, treat the ranges as a shape, not a price — a cash fee per visit, the first visit priced on its own, therapies as add-ons and a package or membership built from the cash fee hold everywhere — and check what local chiropractors list on their own websites.

Put your prices on your website

A price list — even “from” prices — answers a customer's first question before they pick up the phone, and it's the line an AI assistant can quote when someone asks what a chiropractic visit costs near them.

If you build your site with Zarla, tell the editor “add a pricing section: adjustments from $75, new-patient visits from $120, X-rays from $75” and your prices go on the site, in a section you can edit any time. Chiropractic pricing: common questions

How much do chiropractors charge per visit?

$50–$100 for a standard adjustment of one or two regions and $75–$150 for the full spine, cash price — $75–$100 for most patients, inside a $60–$200 range (Hotaling, July 2026); CareRoute's full range is $30–$200 (July 2026). CareCredit's national average for a manual adjustment is $76; CareRoute's cash average is about $95, $65–$150 à la carte at an independent office (July 2026). The calculator above prices any visit with the extras.

How much should I charge for a new-patient visit?

$80–$300 for the consultation and exam, plus $75–$200 for X-rays if you take them (Hotaling, July 2026). CareCredit's national average first consultation is $152 ($121–$281), and The Spine Studio's own published first visit is $149 (August 2026). A $29–$49 new-patient special is a promotion — price the full visit first, then decide what to discount.

What does insurance pay a chiropractor per visit?

Less than the fee: the average fee was $67.40 and the average reimbursement $42.55, a 63% rate (Chiropractic Economics' fee survey, March 2024); the 2025 salary survey's typical practice bills $723,024 and collects $450,425, 62%. Medicare allows roughly $28 for a one-to-two-region adjustment, about $38 for three to four regions and about $48–$50 for five (CareRoute, July 2026), with the patient paying 20%; commercial copays run $20–$75 (Hotaling).

How much should a chiropractic package or membership cost?

Prepaid packages of 10–12 visits usually bring the per-visit price to $25–$50, maintenance care runs $75–$150 a month, and franchise memberships are $69–$89 a month for four visits, $17–$22 a visit (Hotaling, July 2026). ChiroSpring's worked example is four wellness adjustments a month for $100 (January 2025). Check the per-visit price against your cost per visit — a franchise membership price only works at franchise volume.

How much should I charge for X-rays and therapies?

X-rays $75–$200 (Hotaling, July 2026), or $44–$300 a region (CareRoute). Per session: spinal decompression $100–$200, cold laser $50–$150, electrical stimulation $30–$75, massage $50–$120 (Hotaling); CareCredit's averages are $100–$101 for decompression, $66–$150 for acupuncture, $51–$80 for dry needling, $76 for the Graston technique and $25 for kinesio taping.

What should a chiropractic practice's overhead be?

The Illinois Chiropractic Society estimated overhead to average over 55% in 2025 and prices from cost per visit = monthly expenses ÷ monthly patient visits (July 2025). Chiropractic Economics' 2025 survey puts a solo practice's lease at $18,819 a year, marketing at $8,154 and malpractice insurance at $2,374, with about 91 patients a week; group practices average 242 patients a week.

How much does a chiropractor make an hour?

The median wage is $38.08 an hour, $79,200 a year (O*NET, 2025 wages). Practice owners do better: Chiropractic Economics' 2025 survey puts a doctor's total compensation at $141,601 on average — $113,420 in a solo practice and $192,726 in a group — on a $106,586 salary.

Should I put my chiropractic prices on my website?

Yes — the cash fee for an adjustment, the new-patient visit price and the package or membership, listed plainly. It answers the first question before the call, and published fee lists are what ranked for the cost searches in November 2026. On a Zarla site, tell the editor “add a pricing section” with your fees, and change them when you review the schedule.
