The short answer
Life coaches in the US charge about $65 to $125 an hour, $90 a session on average (Bark's 2025 US price guide), and the International Coaching Federation's 2025 study puts the average fee for a one-hour session at $234 worldwide — $270 for its Baby Boomer coaches against $193 for Millennials. Noomii's 2026 range for a single session is $100 to $500, from about $75 an hour for a newer practitioner to $500 or more for a seasoned executive coach (March 2026).
Most coaching sells as a package. Noomii's ranges are $1,500 to $5,000 for three months, $3,000 to $12,000 for six and $6,000 to $30,000 or more for a twelve-month retainer. Simply.Coach's examples are a six-session package at $1,800 and a twelve-session package at $4,500, with monthly retainers of $300 to $600 for a newer coach, $600 to $1,200 mid-career and $1,500 to $3,000 or more for an experienced one (October 2026).
The niche sets the band: career coaching $100 to $500 a session, relationship coaching $75 to $250, health and wellness $75 to $200 and executive coaching upwards of $500 an hour, with online life coaching at $70 to $80 against $90 in person (Bark).
Price from the hours you can actually fill: the ICF's average coach spends 11.6 hours a week working as a coach, with 12.4 active clients, on average annual coaching revenue of $49,283. Then put the packages on your website: “life coach pricing” is Googled about 590 times a month and “life coaching packages” about 390, and “how much to charge for life coaching” is put to AI assistants about 290 times (DataForSEO, October 2026).

THE PRICING FORMULA
How to set your life coaching rates
Six steps from the income you need to the packages on the price list.
Start from the income you need
Simply.Coach's method: take your monthly revenue target, set aside the overhead, divide by the hours you can bill — its example is a $10,000 target and $2,000 of overhead, $8,000 over 60 billable hours, about $133 a session (October 2026).
Count the hours you can really fill
The ICF's 2025 study finds the average coach spending 11.6 hours a week working as a coach, with 12.4 active clients and $49,283 of annual coaching revenue. Price for the hours you can fill, not a full working week.
Place yourself by niche
Bark's US bands per session: life coaching $65–$125, relationship $75–$250, health and wellness $75–$200, career $100–$500, executive upwards of $500 an hour. Pick the band your clients pay in, then your place in it.
Sell the result as a package
Noomii's three-month package runs $1,500–$5,000 and its six-month package $3,000–$12,000 (March 2026). A package names the sessions, their length and the weeks, so the client buys the change, not the hour.
Add a premium for transformational work
Simply.Coach adds a value multiplier to the base rate for transformational programs: 40% takes its $133 base to $186, and 80% for higher-value outcomes to $240 (October 2026). Paperbell says to review your fees yearly.
Add a group tier and a premium one
Group coaching runs $50–$150 a participant for a newer coach and $150–$300 mid-career (Simply.Coach). Paperbell suggests an ultra-premium tier priced well above the rest, like its $7,515 VIP example (April 2025).
The formula, worked through
Say you coach career changers, want $6,000 a month to pay yourself plus $1,000 for software, insurance and training, and can fill about 48 sessions a month — twelve clients seen weekly, near the ICF's averages of 12.4 active clients and 11.6 coaching hours a week. $7,000 over 48 sessions is about $146; call it $150 a session — inside Bark's $100–$500 for career coaching and under the ICF's $234 average fee.
Sold as a package, twelve weekly sessions over three months at $150 is $1,800 — inside Noomii's $1,500–$5,000 for a three-month package — and twelve clients on it is $21,600 a quarter, $7,200 a month against the $7,000 you set out to earn.
So “single sessions from $150, three-month coaching packages from $1,800, group coaching from $50 a participant” is a fair line for your website. The bands are the publishers'; the goal, the overhead and the arithmetic are ours.
What to charge where your clients are
Bark's state figures put New York at $150–$400 an hour, Illinois at $90–$250, Texas at $80–$200 and Florida at $75–$175, with California at $100–$300. Most coaching now happens on video, so the market your clients live in can matter more than your own — though Bark's online life coaching sessions, at $70–$80, sit a little under its $90 in person.
In the US there's no license to call yourself a life coach — Bark notes the field is unregulated — but diagnosing or treating a mental-health condition is licensed work, so a coach whose client needs therapy refers them on and keeps clinical words off the website. Whether coaching fees carry sales tax depends on the state. Check your state's licensing board before you describe your work in therapy terms, and ask your accountant whether the tax line applies to you.
Outside the US, the ICF's figures are the yardstick: its $234 average fee for a one-hour session is a global average across its 2025 study. The shape holds everywhere — a session rate, a package that names the sessions and the weeks, a monthly retainer for the clients who stay, and a group tier.
Put your prices on your website
A price list — even “from” prices — answers a customer's first question before they pick up the phone, and it's the line an AI assistant can quote when someone asks what life coaching costs near them.
If you build your site with Zarla, tell the editor “add a pricing section: single sessions from $150, three-month coaching packages from $1,800, group coaching from $50 a participant” and your prices go on the site, in a section you can edit any time. Life coach pricing: common questions
About $65–$125 an hour in the US, $90 a session on average (Bark); $100–$500 for a single session in Noomii's 2026 ranges (March 2026). The ICF's 2025 study puts the average one-hour fee at $234 worldwide. The calculator above works out a session, a package or a retainer.
Near the bottom of each band: Noomii starts newer practitioners at about $75 an hour (March 2026); Simply.Coach's newer-coach ranges are $300–$600 a month on retainer and $50–$150 a participant for group coaching (October 2026). The ICF's 2025 study shows the fee rising with experience — $193 an hour for its Millennial coaches against $270 for Baby Boomers.
$1,500–$5,000 for three months, $3,000–$12,000 for six and $6,000–$30,000 or more for a twelve-month retainer (Noomii, March 2026). Simply.Coach's examples are $1,800 for six sessions and $4,500 for twelve (October 2026); Paperbell's run from $495 for a three-month relationship package of six 60-minute sessions to $7,515 for a VIP package of twenty 90-minute sessions (April 2025).
Lead with the package and keep a single-session price for people who want to try you: a package names the sessions, their length and the weeks, so the client is buying the result. Noomii's ranges and Simply.Coach's six- and twelve-session examples are all package prices; the single session is the entry point.
$50–$150 a participant for a newer coach and $150–$300 mid-career, with workshops and masterclasses at $50–$500 a participant (Simply.Coach, October 2026). Its example: ten participants at $200 each is $2,000 for the session.
More: upwards of $500 an hour for executive coaching (Bark), $500 or more for a seasoned executive coach (Noomii, March 2026), and $200–$1,000 an hour for one-to-one work inside a high-ticket program (Simply.Coach, October 2026). The ICF's 2025 study counts its average across all kinds of coaching at $234.
A little, on Bark's figures: $70–$80 for an online life coaching session against $90 in person. Online, your clients can live anywhere, so price for the market they're in.
Yes — a starting price for a session and for your packages answers the first question before the discovery call, and hands AI assistants a number to give when someone asks what a coach costs. On a Zarla site, tell the editor “add a pricing section” with your packages, and change it when your prices do.
