The short answer
Social media management costs $500 to $5,000 a month in the US, or $35 to $150 an hour from a freelancer or agency (WebFX, February 2026). AgencyAnalytics sees agencies charging $1,000 to $10,000 a month — a single platform with static posts and light engagement $1,000–$3,000, multi-platform management $3,500–$10,000 (January 2025). Clutch's agencies most often bill $25–$49 an hour, $100–$149 in the US (September 2026).
By the piece: content creation $40–$150 a post (WebFX) or $50–$300 (AgencyAnalytics), short-form video $200–$1,500 a video, a social media strategy $2,000–$10,000, community management $1,000–$5,000+ a month, consulting $150–$500 an hour (AgencyAnalytics). Ads: a $1,000–$2,000 setup fee plus 10%–20% of ad spend, $1,500–$10,000+ a month in management (AgencyAnalytics); WebFX's ad-management band is $650–$6,000 a month.
The wider digital marketing menu: SEO $500–$5,000 a month, pay-per-click $1,500–$15,000, email $50–$1,000, social media marketing $750–$7,000, content marketing $2,000–$20,000, a comprehensive retainer $1,000–$10,000+; project work $3,000–$30,000+ and consulting $25–$250+ an hour (WebFX). Upwork's small-business rate card puts account management for two channels at $400–$2,000 a month and $200–$1,500 for each extra channel.
Scope the retainer in platforms, posts and engagement hours, price it from your hourly rate, add ads and video as their own lines — and publish the packages: “social media management pricing” is one of the few digital marketing phrases customers Google more than they ask an assistant (480 a month against 8), so the number on your website is the one they find (DataForSEO, October 2026).

ADD-ONS AND ADJUSTMENTS
What the client's size and extra channels do to the retainer
Enterprise accounts pay several times the small-business rate; each added channel is its own line.
| What | Typical US price · source |

THE PRICING FORMULA
How to price social media management
Six steps from the hours a client needs to a retainer on your website.
Count the hours
Posts, graphics, scheduling, replies and reporting — AgencyAnalytics' example is 20 hours at $100 an hour for a launch, $2,000. A new freelancer researches $20–$40 an hour as a starting rate; WebFX's band is $35–$150.
Scope the retainer in platforms and posts
A single platform with static posts and light engagement $1,000–$3,000 a month; multi-platform management $3,500–$10,000 (AgencyAnalytics, January 2025) — its tier examples are $1,000 for eight Instagram posts and $3,500 for three platforms and twenty-plus posts. Name the count in the package.
Price content by the piece
$50–$300 a post, with bulk discounts from ten posts; $200–$1,500 a video, lower for 15–60 second clips with basic edits (AgencyAnalytics). WebFX's per-post band is $40–$150.
Separate ads from management
A $1,000–$2,000 setup fee plus 10%–20% of ad spend for ongoing management, $1,500–$10,000+ a month in fees; the spend itself is the client's (AgencyAnalytics). WebFX: $650–$6,000 a month for ad creation and campaign management.
Sell strategy and consulting as projects
A strategy $2,000–$10,000 — $3,000 for a three-month single-platform plan in AgencyAnalytics' example — and consulting $150–$500 an hour or $1,000–$5,000 a session.
Package it in three tiers
A basic tier at $1,000–$1,500 a month for one platform, a top tier over $5,000 for multi-platform with daily engagement (AgencyAnalytics); its starter-package example opens at $500 and $1,200 a month. Put the tiers on your website with what each one includes.
The formula, worked through
Say a local gym wants Instagram and Facebook run: twelve posts a month, daily replies and a monthly report.
Twelve posts at $50–$300 (AgencyAnalytics) is $600–$3,600 of content; daily engagement is about ten hours a month at $35–$150 (WebFX), $350–$1,500; the report an hour or two more. So the work prices at roughly $1,000–$5,300 a month — and AgencyAnalytics' own example of a fitness studio on a standard two-platform package is $2,000 a month with ads management available for $500 more.
Call it $2,000 a month, $2,500 with a short-form video, and print “social media management from $1,000 a month, posts from $75, reels from $250” on your website. The arithmetic is ours; the rates are the publishers'.
What to charge in your market
Social media work sells remotely, so the client's market sets the rate as much as yours. Clutch's hourly rates for social media marketing agencies by country: United States, Canada and Australia $100–$149, United Kingdom and Poland $50–$99, Ukraine, Spain and Mexico $25–$49, India and the Philippines under $25 (September 2026). Upwork's marketplace median for social media managers is $14–$35 an hour.
Inside the US, the Bureau of Economic Analysis puts overall prices in California at 110.7 against a US average of 100 and Arkansas at 86.9 (2024 regional price parities, released February 2026) — a $2,000-a-month retainer in an average market is about $2,200 in California and about $1,750 in Arkansas, if your clients are local.
If they aren't, price for the client's size: Upwork's rate cards put two-channel account management at $400–$2,000 a month for a small business and $2,500–$10,000 for an enterprise. The work scales with the audience, not the zip code.
Put your prices on your website
A price list — even “from” prices — answers a customer's first question before they pick up the phone, and it's the line an AI assistant can quote when someone asks what social media management costs near them.
If you build your site with Zarla, tell the editor “add a pricing section: social media management from $1,000 a month, posts from $75, reels from $250, ads management from $1,500 a month” and your prices go on the site, in a section you can edit any time. Social media management pricing: common questions
$500–$5,000 a month from a freelancer or agency (WebFX, February 2026). Agencies most often charge $1,000–$10,000: $1,000–$3,000 for one platform with static posts and $3,500–$10,000 for several (AgencyAnalytics, January 2025). The calculator above uses those bands.
$35–$150 an hour (WebFX, February 2026). Clutch's agencies most often bill $25–$49 an hour overall and $100–$149 in the US (September 2026); a beginner researching rates sees $20–$40 (AgencyAnalytics). Consulting is priced higher, at $150–$500 an hour.
$50–$300 a post depending on the content type and customisation, with bulk discounts for ten or more (AgencyAnalytics, January 2025); WebFX's band is $40–$150 (February 2026). AgencyAnalytics' example: $75 for a static Instagram post and $150 for a carousel, one revision round included.
$200–$1,500 a video; 15–60 second clips with basic edits sit at the low end and branded or animated content at the top (AgencyAnalytics, January 2025). Its example: $400 a video for eight workout reels with captions, extra revisions at $75 an hour.
A setup fee of $1,000–$2,000 plus 10%–20% of ad spend for ongoing management, $1,500–$10,000+ a month in fees — the spend itself is separate (AgencyAnalytics, January 2025). WebFX puts ad creation and campaign management at $650–$6,000 a month (February 2026).
$2,000–$10,000, depending on platforms and scope — a three-month single-platform strategy with audience research, competitor analysis and a content calendar is $3,000 in AgencyAnalytics' example (January 2025). Add-ons like trend analysis or detailed market research are $500–$1,000 extra.
SEO $500–$5,000 a month, pay-per-click $1,500–$15,000, email $50–$1,000, content marketing $2,000–$20,000, social media marketing $750–$7,000, a comprehensive retainer $1,000–$10,000+; projects $3,000–$30,000+ and consulting $25–$250+ an hour (WebFX).
Yes — three tiers with the platforms and the post count in each, a “from” price, and ads and video as add-ons. “Social media management pricing” is Googled about 480 times a month, so the package on your website is the one the client finds. On a Zarla site, tell the editor “add a pricing section” with your tiers, and change them any time.
