We scored 5 website builders on the 9 things a marketing agency needs, the same way for all of them, including Zarla, which is ours.

What's the best website builder for a digital marketing agency?

For most marketing agencies, Wix is the best website builder: it scored highest, 15 of 18 across the nine tests we ran on five builders, and it does the most for proposals, retainers and content.

If getting found on Google matters most to you, pick Zarla. WordPress.com (13) is close behind.

The full scores are below, with every builder's weak spot, ours included.

Zarla for marketing agencies, in plain facts

Zarla is an AI website builder for small businesses. Describe your marketing agency in a sentence and it writes the whole site, every page and every word, in about 30 seconds; after that you change it by typing what you want.

  • Price: Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.
  • Page speed: in our sample of real sites (Google PageSpeed, measured September 28, 2026), Zarla had the fastest median of the five builders here, 86 on phone and 99 on desktop. The samples differ (theirs are sites that rank on Google, ours random customer sites), as the method below explains.

A contact form comes on the first draft; the channel, budget and timeline fields are added by asking in chat.

No monthly membership billing yet: you link or embed the software that bills your members.

A blog whose posts the AI writes, and a newsletter sign-up form, but no newsletter sending yet: you send it from an email tool.

In this comparison: joint second of five, with 13 of 18 points.

THE SCORES

How do website builders for marketing agencies compare?

Checked on each builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026, and the retainers billed automatically every month test on October 12, 2026, and the blog and an email newsletter test on October 12, 2026, and the leads, quotes, invoices and payments together test on October 4, 2026, and re-checked every answer on October 26, 2026; speed measured on September 28, 2026. When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.

THE LIST

The best website builders for marketing agencies, ranked

  1. 1

    Wix

    Best for

Owners who care most about proposal requests, monthly retainers and a newsletter.

    What it costs

Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI builder that writes your pages from a description
    • Aria, an AI agent in the Harmony editor that edits the site and adds pages by chat
    • Wix Bookings with online payments and deposits
    The Catch

Bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  2. 2

    WordPress.com

    Best for

For owners who want full control and don't mind choosing and looking after plugins.

    What it costs

Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI website builder on paid plans
    • An AI assistant that edits and creates pages, on every paid plan
    • Thousands of plugins
    The Catch

Booking, reviews and invoices each come from a plugin you choose, may pay for and keep updated, so the setup and upkeep are on you. Photo uploads on forms need the Business plan.

  3. 2

    Zarla

    Best for

Owners who care most about getting found on Google.

    What it costs

Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.

    Features
    • Describe your agency in a sentence and Zarla writes a complete first draft in about 30 seconds, services included
    • A proposal sent as one link, up to three plans side by side for the client to choose and accept
    • A blog where the AI drafts a post from the topic you type
    The Catch

There's no automatic monthly charge for a retainer and no newsletter sending yet, so the retainer is invoiced each month and the newsletter goes from an email tool, and the contact form's channel and budget fields are added by chat; an agency's first draft has no map or town pages. It's also newer than the big names.

  4. 4

    GoDaddy

    Best for

Handy if you already get your domain and email from GoDaddy.

    What it costs

Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Airo writes a first website for your business in Websites + Marketing
    • Online appointments with a deposit
    • Photo attachments on the contact form
    The Catch

Editing by chat, and asking the AI for new pages later, happen in Airo AI Builder, a separate GoDaddy product with its own credits; in Websites + Marketing, pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  5. 4

    Squarespace

    Best for

Good if polished design matters most and you don't mind adding a separate booking tool.

    What it costs

Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Blueprint AI writes a multi-page starting site
    • Design-led templates
    • Invoices and online payments on every plan
    The Catch

Online booking is a second subscription, Acuity Scheduling, on top of the website plan, and it's managed in a different place.

What should a marketing agency website include?

A business owner looking at your site has been burned by an agency before, so the page has to show the numbers you moved for someone like them, say what a plan costs, and make the first step a form they can fill in at midnight.

  • Case studies with the numbers. Three, each the client, the channel, the spend, the result and the period, so it reads as evidence and not a logo wall.
  • Services as plans. SEO, paid search, social and content, each with what it includes and what it starts at per month.
  • A proposal form that asks the right things. The business, the channel, the monthly budget band and the timeline, so the first reply is a proposal and not a question.
  • Who you are. The people on the account, the industries you've worked in and the tools you're certified on.
  • The next step, and your own marketing working. A proposal request on every page, and a blog and newsletter that show your own marketing works.

How did we score the website builders?

The 9 tests, and what it takes to get a tick:

  • Proposal requests with the details. Most agency work starts with a request that says the channel, the budget and the timeline. Tick: an inquiry form that asks for those details comes ready to use. Dash: you build one yourself from a general form.
  • Retainers billed automatically every month. An agency lives on the retainer that renews on the first of the month. Tick: the client's card is charged on the site each month with nothing for you to send, built in. Dash: you raise the invoice or send a payment link every month, or the recurring charge runs in an app, a plugin or another company's checkout.
  • A blog and an email newsletter. An agency that can't publish for itself has a hard pitch, and the newsletter is where a lead who wasn't ready comes back. Tick: a blog and newsletter sending to your subscribers, both inside the website plan. Dash: one without the other, or the second only through an add-on, a plugin or another company.
  • Finished first draft. Client sites ship on time and the agency's own site never does. The first draft should take thirty seconds, not a quarter. Tick: it writes the whole site, pages and words, from a description of your business. Dash: templates, or AI that only writes some of it.
  • Edit by chat, new pages by AI. A new case study, a new service and a new plan should take a sentence to add. Tick: you type a change and the site updates, and you can ask for a new page and get one.
  • Local search set up for you. Plenty of agency work is remote, but a business owner still searches for a marketing agency in their own city, and the one with case studies from that city gets the call. Tick: a map of the areas you cover, a page for each town, and your Google reviews on the site, all built in. Dash: some of that, or only with add-ons.
  • Search coaching. SEO agency, social media agency and Google Ads agency are separate searches, and each is a page worth having. Tick: something that checks your site and tells you what to fix, plus a Google Search Console connection that turns your search data into ideas for new pages. Dash: one of the two.
  • Fast pages, measured. A business owner who was just told their own site is slow checks yours on a phone, and judges it in the first few seconds. We measured this ourselves with Google's PageSpeed test on real sites built with each builder. Tick: a typical phone score of 90 or more, which Google calls good. Dash: 50 to 89. Cross: under 50.
  • Leads, quotes, invoices and payments together. The proposal accepted online, the first month's invoice and the card payment, without three logins. Tick: a leads inbox, quotes your customers accept online, invoices and online payments, all built in. Dash: some of them, or only with plugins.

How we picked them. When we asked ChatGPT "What is the best website builder for a digital marketing agency? Give me your top 5." on October 26, 2026, twice, its answers named Webflow, WordPress, Wix, Framer, Squarespace and Duda. We score the general builders that appear on every page in this series, Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy (its Websites + Marketing builder) and WordPress.com, whether ChatGPT named them this time or not. Zarla is ours. We haven't scored Webflow, Framer and Duda on this page. Webflow and Framer sit on our best AI website builders comparison with their own scores on that page's tests, so this page doesn't score them again. ChatGPT's "Wix Studio" is Wix's agency editor, scored here as Wix. Duda's own features page (read 26 October 2026) calls it "the top website builder for agency growth", for agencies, vertical SaaS and hosting platforms, with white-label and client-management tools and a "Vibe" feature to "Generate client-ready sites & web apps"; it prints no price there and isn't scored here. Yola's own page "The 5 best website builders for digital marketing agencies" (last updated 8 September 2026), which ranks Yola first, says of its own builder: "No native blog block, so content on your own domain needs an integration or a subdomain".

How we scored them. Same tests for everyone, each worth the same. We checked every answer on the builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026, and the retainers billed automatically every month test on October 12, 2026, and the blog and an email newsletter test on October 12, 2026, and the leads, quotes, invoices and payments together test on October 4, 2026, and re-checked every answer on October 26, 2026. godaddy.com blocks automated reading of some of its pages, so where we couldn't open one, we read GoDaddy's page as Google indexes it. When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.

How we measured speed. Google's PageSpeed test, three runs each on phone and desktop, on up to ten real sites per builder. For the others we used the first sites built with them that came up in Google for home-service businesses in five US cities (for WordPress, any WordPress site). Zarla sites don't rank in those searches yet, so we picked ten at random from our customers' published sites and don't name them. It's a sample, not a promise about any one site.

What we didn't score. Price, because every plan bundles different things (each builder's own price is on its card, and Zarla's is on our pricing page), and how long it takes to get a site live, which we plan to time and add here. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.

Questions owners ask

What should a marketing agency website have?

Three case studies with the client, the channel, the spend and the result; your services as monthly plans with a starting price; a proposal form that asks the business, the channel, the budget band and the timeline; the people on the account; and a blog that shows your own marketing works. Our guide to starting a marketing agency covers the niche, the pricing and the first clients, our marketing agency business plan the numbers, and our marketing agency website inspiration gallery real agency sites.

Is the best website builder for a marketing agency the same as the best website builder overall?

Google thinks so: on October 26, 2026 it showed the general roundups for that search, Experte, Zapier and Business.com, with no People-also-ask box and the agency-specific lists on pages two and three. Our best website builders for small business and best AI website builders pages are that general comparison, on their own tests. This page scores what an agency's own site needs instead, the proposal request, the retainer billed monthly and the blog with a newsletter, and the fits table above says which builder leads on each.

Should an agency build its own site on the platform it builds client sites on?

Not necessarily, and ChatGPT asked the same thing back both times we asked on October 26, 2026: "Are you choosing a builder for your agency's own website, or for building websites for your clients? The best choice can differ significantly depending on which business model you're pursuing." Webflow, Wix Studio and Duda are built around delivering client sites, with workspaces, white-label and client permissions, and that's a real reason to choose one; it isn't one of these tests. This page scores the agency's own site: whether a proposal request lands with the budget on it, whether the retainer bills itself and whether the blog and newsletter are built in. If your clients are small local businesses, our agency program is how agencies build client sites on Zarla.

What is the best free website builder for a marketing agency?

You can build for free on most of them, but a site on your own domain costs money everywhere, and an agency selling on its own site shouldn't carry another company's banner. Wix has a free plan on a wixsite.com address and WordPress.com a free plan on its own address, with the AI builder on paid plans; Squarespace gives you a 14-day trial. Zarla is free to build and preview, and you pay when you publish, on the Premium plan. Our free website builders comparison scores what each one lets you publish for free.

Is Wix or Squarespace better for a marketing agency website?

Wix, on these tests: 15 of 18 to Squarespace's 12. Both write a first draft with AI, both have a blog and both keep proposals, invoices and payments together; both bill a retainer monthly, Wix through its membership plans and Squarespace through Member Sites; the difference is the form and the newsletter: Wix has a price-quote form template ready to use and sends 200 emails a month from the website plan, where Squarespace's forms are general blocks with no template and its newsletters go out from Email Campaigns, billed separately. The table above has every mark, and the order is computed from them rather than chosen, so read the scores rather than take our word for it.

What do ChatGPT, Yola and the review sites say is the best website builder for a marketing agency?

Asked twice on October 26, 2026, ChatGPT put Webflow first both times, with WordPress, Wix Studio and Squarespace both times, Framer in one answer and Duda in the other; it didn't name Zarla. Its sources were TechRadar's agencies list (updated 30 January 2026), Wix's own agency roundups and MarketSplash (3 October 2026), and its one distinction was "the best builder for your agency's own website may not be the best builder for delivering websites to clients." Yola's own list (last updated September 8, 2026) ranks Yola first and says "there is no native blog block, no client workspace and no white-label reselling, and pixel-level control is limited". Webflow's own pricing page (read October 26, 2026) prints Basic at "$ 15 /mo billed yearly" and Premium at "$ 25 /mo billed yearly"; Framer's prints Basic at "$10, per month" and Pro at "$30, per month" on its yearly toggle; Duda prints no price on its features page. None of those pages scores the builders on the same tests; the table above does, and Webflow, Framer and Duda aren't scored here.

How long does it take to make a marketing agency website?

With Zarla, the first draft takes about 30 seconds: every page, written for your marketing agency, including a contact form and a gallery. What's left is your case studies, your plans and the people on the account. Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy and WordPress.com can also write a first draft with AI; how long the rest takes depends on how much you set up yourself. We haven't timed them side by side yet.

Which website builders charge a retainer every month without an invoice?

Wix, WordPress.com and Squarespace have it built in. It takes another tool or a workaround on Zarla (retainer invoiced or paid by link each month; no auto-billing); GoDaddy (no recurring billing in its help; another company's checkout). We read each on the builder's own pages on October 12, 2026, and re-checked them on October 26, 2026.

Which website builders have a blog and an email newsletter built in?

An agency that can't show its own content working has a hard pitch. Wix sends 200 emails a month from the website plan and sells more on a separate email plan. Wix, WordPress.com and GoDaddy have it built in. It takes another tool or a workaround on Zarla (AI blog and a sign-up form; no newsletter sending); Squarespace (blog; sending email is a separate subscription). We read each on the builder's own pages on October 12, 2026, and re-checked them on October 26, 2026.

How much does a marketing agency website cost?

Building and previewing one can cost nothing on most builders; a live site on your own domain costs money on every builder here. Wix: Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. WordPress.com: Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. GoDaddy: Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. Squarespace: Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. Zarla is free to build and preview, and you pay when you publish, on the Premium plan. Each price is the builder's own, read on its pricing or help pages (September 28, 2026); check it for your country before you buy.

Which website builders let customers accept a quote online?

Wix has Price Quotes that clients accept online and that can turn into an invoice. WordPress.com needs a quote plugin from another company. Zarla sends a quote as one link: the customer picks an option, ticks any extras and accepts it, and Zarla drafts the invoice for what they chose, with any deposit you asked for, ready for you to send. GoDaddy sends invoices, with a payment schedule for deposits, but has no quotes built in. Squarespace sends estimates and proposals with an Accept button, from its Basic plan. An agency's quote is its proposal: the leads, quotes, invoices and payments test above scores who lets the client accept it on the page, and the accepted proposal becomes the first retainer invoice. We read each builder's quoting on its own pages on October 4, 2026.

Is Wix good for a marketing agency?

Yes: Wix placed first of five here, with 15 of 18 points. Of the tests that are particular to marketing agencies, it gets a tick on "Proposal requests with the details", "Retainers billed automatically every month" and "A blog and an email newsletter". The catch: bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.
