The short answer

A basic facial is $55 to $110 in the US; deep cleansing $85 to $165, acne $80 to $165, anti-aging $110 to $275, microdermabrasion $110 to $325, a chemical peel $150 to $350, a HydraFacial $175 to $350, an Aqua Gold facial $225 to $450 (Thervo, June 2026). Where you work sets the band: independent estheticians and salons $55 to $130, day spas $90 to $225, luxury spas $225 to $650.

Waxing by area: brows $12 to $25, lip or chin $10 to $20, underarms $20 to $35, bikini line $30 to $50, Brazilian $45 to $90, half leg $35 to $55, full leg $50 to $90, back or chest $40 to $70 (bkrdy, June 2026). Other services: brow or lash tint and lamination $40 to $90, lash extensions $100 to $250, microneedling and advanced facials $100 to $200 and up, laser hair removal $150 to $300 and up (Dojo Business, October 2025).

The add-ons are their own lines: LED light therapy $30 to $85, dermaplaning $35 to $85, oxygen infusion $35 to $85, extractions $15 to $45, a collagen mask $25 to $60, an exosome or growth-factor boost $50 to $150, a 90-minute session $50 to $175 more, medical-grade products $25 to $120 more (Thervo). A basic facial uses $10 to $25 of product, an advanced one $25 to $50 (Dojo Business).

Price each service from its minutes and its product cost at a 30% to 50% margin (Dojo Business), then put “from” prices on your website: “facial pricing” is Googled about 1,000 times a month, and “how much to charge for facials” is put to AI assistants about 300 times (DataForSEO, October 2026).

THE PRICING FORMULA

How to price an esthetician service

Six steps from the treatment-room clock to the number on the menu.

01

Time the service, including turnover

A basic facial is 45–60 minutes plus 10–15 minutes of setup and cleanup; a full-leg wax 30–60 minutes; lash extensions 60–120 minutes (Dojo Business). The room earns by the minute — price the whole slot, not the hands-on time.

02

Cost the product per service

$10–$25 of product in a basic facial, $25–$50 in an advanced one, $5–$20 in a tint, $10–$30 in a wax (Dojo Business). Add it to the minutes at your hourly cost before you look at the market.

03

Set the margin

Esthetician services run a 30%–50% margin after labor, rent, supplies and taxes (Dojo Business). Waxing earns the stronger margin on low product cost; laser and microneedling carry equipment cost but price at a premium.

04

Check it against the market band

Basic $55–$110, deep cleansing $85–$165, anti-aging $110–$275, HydraFacial $175–$350 (Thervo); brows $12–$25, Brazilian $45–$90 (bkrdy). Where you work moves the facial: a day spa charges $90–$225 for what an independent charges $55–$130.

05

Sell the add-ons as lines

LED $30–$85, dermaplaning $35–$85, extractions $15–$45, a 90-minute session $50–$175 more (Thervo). A menu that names them turns a $90 facial into a $150 visit without raising the base price.

06

Tier the menu

Dojo Business's shape: an entry service 15%–20% under your standard price with a shorter slot, the standard, and a premium 20%–40% above it with better technology or a longer session. Packages (three facials for 10% off) book the rebooking in advance.

The formula, worked through

Say a 60-minute deep-cleansing facial with LED and extractions at an independent studio.

The facial at $85–$165 (Thervo) is the base; LED adds $30–$85 and extractions $15–$45. So the visit runs about $130–$295.

Against the costs: about 75 minutes of room time with setup and cleanup, and $10–$25 of product (Dojo Business) — at the middle of the range, about $210, the product is under 10% of the price and the hour earns about $170 before product, rent and tax, comfortably inside a 30%–50% margin. So “facials from $85, LED add-on from $30, brow wax from $12” is a fair line for your website. The arithmetic is ours; the rates are the publishers'.

What to charge in your part of the country

The room matters more than the map: Thervo's bands run from $55–$130 a facial at an independent studio or salon to $90–$225 at a day spa and $225–$650 at a luxury or resort spa (June 2026), and bkrdy says two studios in the same town can charge $45 and $80 for the same Brazilian, with the bigger cities at the top of every waxing range (June 2026).

The Bureau of Economic Analysis puts overall prices in California at 110.7 against a US average of 100 and Arkansas at 86.9 (2024 regional price parities, released February 2026) — so a $110 facial in an average market is about $120 in California and about $95 in Arkansas.

In the US, estheticians are licensed by the state, and which services you may offer under that licence — dermaplaning, microneedling, chemical peel depths, laser — differs by state; some are reserved for medical settings. Check your state board's rules before a service goes on the menu.

Put your prices on your website

A price list — even “from” prices — answers a customer's first question before they pick up the phone, and it's the line an AI assistant can quote when someone asks what a facial costs near them.

If you build your site with Zarla, tell the editor “add a pricing section: facials from $55, deep-cleansing facials from $85, brow wax from $12, Brazilian wax from $45, lash extensions from $100” and your prices go on the site, in a section you can edit any time. Facial pricing: common questions

How much should I charge for a facial?

$55–$110 for a basic facial; deep cleansing $85–$165, acne $80–$165, anti-aging $110–$275, microdermabrasion $110–$325, a chemical peel $150–$350, a HydraFacial $175–$350 (Thervo, June 2026). Dojo Business's esthetician-side band for a basic facial is $50–$90. The calculator above uses the Thervo bands.

How much do estheticians charge for waxing?

Brows $12–$25, lip or chin $10–$20, underarms $20–$35, bikini line $30–$50, Brazilian $45–$90, half leg $35–$55, full leg $50–$90, back or chest $40–$70 (bkrdy, June 2026). Time is the main driver — a 10-minute brow wax and a 40-minute full leg can't sit at the same price.

How much should I charge for lash extensions, tints and brow lamination?

Lash extensions $100–$250 for 60–120 minutes; brow or lash tinting and lamination $40–$90 for 30–90 minutes (Dojo Business, October 2025). Product is $5–$50 a service, so the price is mostly your time.

What should I charge for add-ons?

LED light therapy $30–$85, dermaplaning $35–$85, oxygen infusion $35–$85, extractions $15–$45, a collagen mask $25–$60, eye treatment $25–$55, lip treatment $15–$35, an exosome or growth-factor boost $50–$150; a 90-minute session $50–$175 more and medical-grade products $25–$120 more (Thervo, June 2026).

Should a day spa charge more than an independent esthetician?

It does: independent estheticians and salons charge $55–$130 a facial, day spas $90–$225, medical spas $165–$550, luxury and resort spas $225–$650 (Thervo, June 2026). The amenities, the products and the staff are what the band pays for — an independent with medical-grade products and a longer session can price into the day-spa band.

What margin should I price at?

30%–50% after labor, rent, supplies and taxes (Dojo Business, October 2025). Waxing yields the stronger margin on low product cost; advanced services carry equipment and product cost but price at a premium. Dojo Business's menu shape: entry 15%–20% below standard, premium 20%–40% above.

How much does a facial cost a first-time client?

$55–$165 for most standard treatments, and many spas offer introductory rates of 20%–50% off for new clients (Thervo, June 2026). Price the introductory facial as a short slot, not a discounted full one, and book the rebooking before they leave.

Should I put my prices on my website?

Yes — a menu with “from” prices per service answers the first question before the booking and screens for the right client. On a Zarla site, tell the editor “add a pricing section” with your menu, and change it when your product costs do.
