Zarla Help Center

Why was my payment declined?

Declines almost always come from the card's bank, not from Zarla — and they rarely tell us the exact reason. Here's what actually fixes it.

Quick fixes, in order

  1. Re-enter the card details. A single wrong digit in the number, expiry, or security code is the most common cause.
  2. Try another card. If a second card works, the issue is with the first card's bank — call the number on the back of the card and ask them to allow the charge.
  3. Check the card allows online and international charges. Some debit cards block these by default; the bank can switch them on.
  4. Check the balance/limit. Prepaid and low-limit cards often fail on annual amounts.

If the charge went through but the plan didn't activate

Occasionally a bank approves and then reverses a charge. If you were charged but your site still says it needs an upgrade, don't retry repeatedly — contact support and we'll sort it out directly.

Updating your saved card

For renewal failures on an existing subscription, update your card from Site settings → Plan → Manage all sites → — see Update your payment method.
