My site isn't showing up on Google

Wondering why your website isn't on Google yet? Nearly always it's timing rather than a problem: Google typically takes a few weeks to start showing a brand-new site in its search results, and a few months to rank it higher. Here's how to check where you stand — and what genuinely speeds it up.

Two quick checks first

  1. Is your site published? Google can only find live sites — a draft is invisible. If you're not sure, see how to publish your website. The clock starts from your first publish, not from when you built the site.
  2. Did you just connect your own domain? Domain changes can take up to 48 hours to settle, and Google then treats your new address as new. That's normal — nothing to fix.

See what Google has found so far

In Google, search for site:yourbusiness.com (swap in your own address, no spaces). This shows the pages of yours that Google has indexed — that is, added to its records:

  • Pages appear — your site is indexed; Google has found you. Climbing the search results is now about the steps below, plus time.
  • Nothing appears, and you published more than a few weeks ago — work through the Get Found checklist below, then give it another couple of weeks.

Searching your business name is a different test — if you can't find your website that way, it doesn't mean it isn't indexed. A new business name takes longer to show up, and for that, your Google Business Profile does the heavy lifting.

Speed it up

  1. Click Get Found in the sidebar and work through the "do this next" list on the Overview — it's your personal checklist, in order.
  2. Set up your Google Business Profile. For local searches ("plumber near me"), your profile usually appears on Google Maps well before your website climbs the regular results — it's the fastest visible win.
  3. Connect Search Console under Get Found → Search Terms. That's Google's own report of when your site appears in searches, so you can watch progress instead of wondering.

What Zarla already handled

Every published Zarla site ships with the technical pieces Google looks for — a sitemap, mobile-friendly pages, fast loading, and the behind-the-scenes tags. There's nothing technical for you to set up or submit.

Still nothing after a month?

If site:yourbusiness.com shows nothing a month after publishing and the checklist is done, contact support with your site address — we'll take a look.
