Transfer a site to another account

Built a site under the wrong account, or want to give your website to someone else — a client, a partner, your own other account? You can move it yourself in a couple of minutes — the site, its domain, and everything on it go together.

Before you start

  • Sign in to the account that currently owns the site — that's where the transfer starts.
  • Know the email address of the new owner. They'll need a free Zarla account with that email — signing in once creates it.
  • The transfer starts from the account the site lives in — if the site was shared with you, even as an owner, only the original account can move it.

Send the transfer

  1. In the sidebar, go to My Sites and click the site you want to transfer — this matters if you have more than one site.
  2. Click Site settings in the sidebar and scroll to Site collaborators.
  3. Click Transfer.
  4. Choose what you want:
    • Share ownership (you keep access) — the other person becomes an owner too, and you both keep working on the site.
    • Transfer ownership (you lose access) — the site moves into their account and you won't be able to edit it anymore. If you're helping them settle in, tick Keep minimal access for handover (Staff role).
  5. Enter the Recipient email, tick the confirmation box (it names the site, so you can double-check you're transferring the right one), and send.

What happens next

The new owner gets an email with an accept link (it expires after 14 days). They sign in — or create a free account — with that email address and click Accept. The site stays where it is until they accept; once they do, the site is theirs, and they can manage the site, its domain, and everything on it from their own account. If the site already has a paid plan, payments stay on the card that set it up until that plan is canceled — contact support if you need billing moved across.

Want to call it off? Back in Site settings, a Pending transfers card lists transfers you've started — click Cancel. The accept link stops working immediately.

Started your site under the wrong email?

Same fix: sign in with the email that has the site, send a transfer to your other email address, then accept it from that account. Two minutes, everything intact.
