Use your domain from the original Zarla on your new site

Did your domain come with your website on the original Zarla? Our team can put it on your new site for you: there are no DNS settings for you to change. Publish your new site, then ask for the switch on the Domains page. Building your new site doesn't move it by itself.

Before you ask

  • Publish your new site. The switch puts your new site at your domain, so it has to be live first. If you pay for a website on the original Zarla, your offer appears when you publish: see Move your website from the original Zarla.
  • Use the email address your plan on the original Zarla is billed to. That's how Zarla knows it's you when you publish. To keep your domain safe, Zarla also checks your email against your domain's details.

Ask us to switch it

  1. Open the Domains page:
    • On a computer: click Site settings in the sidebar, then Manage domain → in the Domain section.
    • On a phone: tap More in the bar at the bottom, then Site settings, then Manage domain →. The bar at the bottom isn't shown while you're editing your site: tap the blue Zarla star at the top of the screen to get out of the editor first.
    • Done this before? That link says Finish setting up → instead, and the Domains page shows your domain: go to step 4.
  2. Click Connect existing, type your domain and click Connect.
  3. If Zarla says your domain already has a live website, pick one:
    • Prepare the move makes sure old links and Google results go to the right page on your new site. When it's done, open the Domains page again and click Switch it to my new site.
    • I'll handle it later takes you to step 4.
  4. Zarla says We manage yourbusiness.com for you (with your domain). Click Switch it to my new site.

That's it: Zarla says We're on it (on the Domains page, your domain shows Switching over…). Our team makes the switch, usually within 1–2 business days, and we email you when your new site is live at your domain.

If Zarla shows something else

  • Zarla asks you to choose a plan ("Take yourbusiness.com live with Premium"): your new site has no plan yet. Paying for a website on the original Zarla? Click Back, then publish your new site: your offer appears there.
  • "Publish my site first": your new site isn't live yet. Publish it, then come back to the Domains page and click Switch it to my new site.
  • Your domain was set up with a different email address: email help@zarla.com about your domain from that address. Not sure which address it is, or can't get into that inbox? Email us from the address you use now.
  • Settings to copy into a domain company (Zarla may name one, such as Squarespace, or say your domain shows your original Zarla site): if your domain came with your original Zarla website, don't change anything. Click Stuck? We can switch it over for you under the settings, then Yes — switch it for me. No such link? Email help@zarla.com with your domain and we'll check it for you.

Got your domain somewhere else, like GoDaddy or Namecheap? Then it's yours to point at your new site: see Connect your own domain.

Need a different change to your domain, like DNS settings for your email? Email help@zarla.com and tell us what you need.
