A TXT record is a small text note saved in your domain's settings. It doesn't touch your website or your email — services like Google or Facebook just read it to confirm the domain is really yours. You'll usually meet one when a service says "add this TXT record to verify your domain."
The TXT record Zarla asks for
When you connect a domain you already own, Zarla shows three settings to add — one points your domain at Zarla, one covers "www", and one is a TXT record that proves you own the domain (its value starts with zarla-verify=). Add all three at your domain company by following the guided steps — see Connect your own domain. Domains bought through Zarla skip all of this; verification is automatic.

A TXT record another service asks for
Google Workspace, Facebook and Meta verification, Pinterest, and similar services often ask you to add their TXT record to prove you own your domain. Where to add it depends on how you got the domain:
- You connected a domain you already own: add the TXT record at your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, and so on) — the same place you added Zarla's records. It sits alongside them without touching your website.
- You bought your domain through Zarla: email hello@zarla.com with the exact record the service gave you (the record's host and value, copied word for word), and we'll add it for you.
Copy the value exactly as the service shows it — a missing character is the most common reason verification fails. Once added, the service usually confirms within minutes, though changes can take up to 48 hours to spread across the internet.
Got a TXT record from Google? Google's records start with google-site-verification= and are separate from Zarla's zarla-verify= record. When you need one, add it as an extra record, the same way as above, and keep Zarla's. Google Workspace (Gmail on your own domain) needs it. Google Search Console doesn't if you connect through Zarla: click Get Found, then Search Terms, then Connect Google Search Console (on a phone, Get Found is under More, and Search Terms is under More again). Google asks you to approve Zarla first, and some sites need one extra step. Zarla verifies your site for you. See Connect Google Search Console.
Will a TXT record break my site?
No. Verification records like these are notes, not wiring — your website and email keep working exactly as before.
