What a car detailing business website needs
Detailing customers buy with their eyes and book by the slot. The site has to show the finish, name the package and take the booking before they scroll to the next detailer.
- Packages by vehicle size. Interior, exterior and full details for a coupe, an SUV and a truck, with starting prices and how long each takes.
- Mobile or shop. Where you work, whether you need the customer's water and power, and the towns you drive to.
- The finish, up close. Before-and-after photos per service: interior shampoo, paint correction, ceramic coating, headlights.
- Deposits and cancellations. For long jobs, a deposit at booking and a plain cancellation rule, stated before the customer pays.
- Coatings explained. What a ceramic coating or paint protection film costs, how long it lasts and how to care for it, since those are the questions that come before the big bookings.
The tests, and how we scored them
The 8 tests, and what it takes to get a tick:
- Book online, with a deposit. Someone who can book a detail and pay a deposit on the spot is someone who turns up. Tick: it comes with the website plan. Dash: it needs a second subscription or a plugin.
- Customers book repeat details. Regular maintenance washes keep a detailing calendar full. Tick: customers pick a repeat as they book. Dash: you set up the repeats for them.
- Finished first draft. You spend the day on cars. Building a website eats your evenings. Tick: it writes the whole site, pages and words, from a description of your business. Dash: templates, or AI that only writes some of it.
- Edit by chat, new pages by AI. Packages and prices change with the seasons and every new coating you offer. Tick: you type a change and the site updates, and you can ask for a new page and get one.
- Local search set up for you. Mobile detailers get found by town, and customers want to know you'll come to them. Tick: a map of the areas you cover, a page for each town, and your Google reviews on the site, all built in. Dash: some of that, or only with add-ons.
- Search coaching. People search by service (ceramic coating, interior detail, paint correction), and each deserves its own page. Tick: something that checks your site and tells you what to fix, plus a Google Search Console connection that turns your search data into ideas for new pages. Dash: one of the two.
- Fast pages, measured. Detail bookings happen on phones, often from a parking lot. We measured this ourselves with Google's PageSpeed test on real sites built with each builder. Tick: a typical phone score of 90 or more, which Google calls good. Dash: 50 to 89. Cross: under 50.
- Leads, invoices and payments together. Deposits, balances and regulars are easier when the booking, the invoice and the payment are in one place. Tick: a leads inbox, invoices and online payments, all built in. Dash: some of them, or only with plugins.
How we picked them. Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy (its Websites + Marketing builder) and WordPress.com are the four ChatGPT names most often for this question. Zarla is ours.
How we scored them. Same tests for everyone, each worth the same. We checked every answer on the builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026. When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.
How we measured speed. Google's PageSpeed test, three runs each on phone and desktop, on up to ten real sites per builder. For the others we used the first sites built with them that came up in Google for home-service businesses in five US cities (for WordPress, any WordPress site). Zarla sites don't rank in those searches yet, so we picked ten at random from our customers' published sites and don't name them. It's a sample, not a promise about any one site.
What we didn't score. Price, because every plan bundles different things (each builder's own price is on its card, and Zarla's is on our pricing page), and how long it takes to get a site live, which we plan to time and add here. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.
Other trades. The same tests for cleaning businesses, junk removal companies, pressure washing businesses, plumbers, pet sitters and dog walkers, handyman businesses.
Questions owners ask
Offer a maintenance plan (a wash every month or two after a full detail), ask for a review after each job, and make rebooking one tap. Of the builders here, Squarespace (through Acuity Scheduling, a separate subscription) lets a customer book a repeat themselves; Wix lets you set up a repeating series for them; GoDaddy repeats only group events, and Zarla books one visit at a time.
For bigger jobs, yes: a deposit cuts no-shows on the slots you can't refill. Zarla, Wix (from its Core plan) and GoDaddy take a deposit when the customer books; Squarespace needs Acuity Scheduling, a separate subscription, and WordPress.com a booking plugin.
Your packages and starting prices (see what car detailing costs), before-and-after photos, the areas you travel to if you're mobile, reviews, and a booking button above the fold on a phone.
Yes: if you drive to customers, set a service area on your Google Business Profile instead of showing an address, and list the towns you cover on your website too. The local-search test above shows which builders set that up for you.
See your detailing website before you decide.
