COMPARED SEPTEMBER 2026
Best website builders for wineries (2026)
We scored 5 website builders on the 9 things a winery needs, the same way for all of them, including Zarla, which is ours.
Free to build · Pay when you publish
Key takeaways
- Wix scored highest: 15 of 18 points across nine tests.
- Pick by what matters most: if getting found on Google matters most to you, Zarla.
- Zarla, which is ours, placed second of five, with 13 points; its weak spots are in the table like everyone else's.
- None of the five gets a tick on "Local search set up for you".
- Every competitor verdict comes from the builder's own pages, with the date we read it. When we asked ChatGPT, it named two of these builders, and not Zarla.
What's the best website builder for a winery?
For most wineries, Wix is the best website builder: it scored highest, 15 of 18 across the nine tests we ran on five builders, and it does the most for tastings, the club and events.
If getting found on Google matters most to you, pick Zarla.
The full scores are below, with every builder's weak spot, ours included.

Zarla for wineries, in plain facts
Zarla is an AI website builder for small businesses. Describe your winery in a sentence and it writes the whole site, every page and every word, in about 30 seconds; after that you change it by typing what you want.
- Price: Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.
- Page speed: in our sample of real sites (Google PageSpeed, measured September 28, 2026), Zarla had the fastest median of the five builders here, 86 on phone and 99 on desktop. The samples differ (theirs are sites that rank on Google, ours random customer sites), as the method below explains.
Tastings book as a time on the website plan, without the number of guests; a group puts its size in the note.
No monthly membership billing yet: you link or embed the software that bills your members.
No events section yet: you type your dates into a section and keep them current by chat, and tickets or RSVPs run on a service you link or embed.
In this comparison: second of five, with 13 of 18 points.

When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.
WHICH ONE FITS
Which builder fits your business?
For each kind of business, the builders that scored highest on the tests that matter most to it, from the same table. Where three or more are level, we list them as level rather than pick one.
| Your business | Top scorers | Why |

| Tasting rooms filling weekend tastings, club pick-ups and harvest events online | Wix | 6 of 6 on "A tasting booked online, for a party", "A wine club billed on schedule" and "Events with tickets", the top score. |
| Wineries winning visitors from "wineries near me" and wine-trail searches | Zarla | 4 of 6 on "Local search set up for you", "Search coaching" and "Fast pages, measured", the top score. |
| Family wineries between harvest and bottling who want the first draft written for them | Level: Wix, Zarla, WordPress.com | Three builders score 4 of 4 on "Finished first draft" and "Edit by chat, new pages by AI", so pick on what else matters to you; the table shows the differences. |
| Wineries invoicing a wedding or a private tasting and keeping every inquiry in one place | Level: Wix, Zarla, Squarespace | Three builders score 2 of 2 on "Leads, quotes, invoices and payments together", so pick on what else matters to you; the table shows the differences. |

What should a winery website include?
A visitor is deciding whether your tasting room is worth the drive, what a flight costs and whether there's room for their group on Saturday. The site answers all three on a phone, then books the tasting.
- Tastings, with times and prices. Each flight or experience, how long it takes, what it costs, the group size it takes and whether to book ahead.
- The wines, vintage by vintage. What you pour now, the tasting notes, what's sold out, and where a visitor can buy a bottle.
- The wine club. How many shipments a year, what's in them, the member price and the perks, and the sign-up on your wine platform.
- Events and private bookings. Release parties, harvest dinners and live music with tickets, and a page for weddings and private events with an inquiry form.
- Getting there. Address, hours, a map with directions, parking, whether dogs and children are welcome, and your Google reviews.
How did we score the website builders?
The 9 tests, and what it takes to get a tick:
- A tasting booked online, for a party. A group of six choosing between three tasting rooms books the one that shows a Saturday time. Tick: visitors book a tasting for their party size on your site, on the website plan. Dash: a reservations service's block or link, or a time booked without the number of guests.
- A wine club billed on schedule. The club is the steadiest money a winery makes. Tick: members join and are billed automatically on the website plan. Dash: you link your wine platform's club sign-up, or the billing needs another company's checkout. On every builder here the billing is all it does: picking the bottles, shipping them and checking the destination state is your wine platform's job.
- Events with tickets. Release parties, harvest dinners and live music sell out from the site. Tick: an event listing that sells tickets or takes RSVPs on the website plan. Dash: dates typed in, with tickets sold through another company's link.
- Finished first draft. Harvest, bottling and the weekend pour leave no season for a website. The first draft should take less time than one tasting flight. Tick: it writes the whole site, pages and words, from a description of your business. Dash: templates, or AI that only writes some of it.
- Edit by chat, new pages by AI. A new release, a sold-out vintage, a harvest party date: say it in a sentence and the page changes before the weekend. Tick: you type a change and the site updates, and you can ask for a new page and get one.
- Local search set up for you. "Wineries near me" and the wine trail's name are the searches, and a visitor picks the tasting room with reviews, directions and a time on Saturday. Tick: a map of the areas you cover, a page for each town, and your Google reviews on the site, all built in. Dash: some of that, or only with add-ons.
- Search coaching. Wine tastings, a vineyard wedding, a private event and the wine club are separate searches, and each is a page worth having. Tick: something that checks your site and tells you what to fix, plus a Google Search Console connection that turns your search data into ideas for new pages. Dash: one of the two.
- Fast pages, measured. A visitor choosing a tasting room on a phone, often from another winery's parking lot, gives the page a few seconds. We measured this ourselves with Google's PageSpeed test on real sites built with each builder. Tick: a typical phone score of 90 or more, which Google calls good. Dash: 50 to 89. Cross: under 50.
- Leads, quotes, invoices and payments together. A wedding or private-event invoice, its deposit and the payment belong in one place, with the inquiry beside them. Tick: a leads inbox, quotes your customers accept online, invoices and online payments, all built in. Dash: some of them, or only with plugins.
How we picked them. When we asked ChatGPT "best website builder for wineries" on November 3, 2026, twice, its answers named Squarespace, Commerce7, Shopify, Wix, ABHUB and Corksy. We score the general builders that appear on every page in this series, Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy (its Websites + Marketing builder) and WordPress.com, whether ChatGPT named them this time or not. Zarla is ours. We haven't scored Commerce7, Shopify, ABHUB and Corksy on this page. Commerce7, Corksy and the other wine platforms Gemini and Google named (WineDirect, now part of Commerce7, vinSUITE, OrderPort, Vinoshipper) run the wine club, the shipments and the tasting-room sales, and are answered below in their own words rather than scored; Shopify, an online-store platform, is scored on our farms and jewelry guides; we couldn't find a site for ABHUB, which ChatGPT named once. Nobody named Zarla on either day.
How we scored them. Same tests for everyone, each worth the same. We checked every answer on the builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026, and the tasting booked online, for a party test on October 12, 2026, and the wine club billed on schedule test on October 12, 2026, and the events with tickets test on October 24, 2026, and the leads, quotes, invoices and payments together test on October 4, 2026. We re-read Wix's table-reservations, membership-plan and Wix Events articles, Squarespace's restaurant-site, Member Sites and calendar-pages articles, and WordPress.com's OpenTable, payments and Eventbrite blocks on November 3, 2026, and the verdicts held; godaddy.com's help pages refused automated reads, so GoDaddy's answers were not re-read and keep their earlier dates. When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.
How we measured speed. Google's PageSpeed test, three runs each on phone and desktop, on up to ten real sites per builder. For the others we used the first sites built with them that came up in Google for home-service businesses in five US cities (for WordPress, any WordPress site). Zarla sites don't rank in those searches yet, so we picked ten at random from our customers' published sites and don't name them. It's a sample, not a promise about any one site.
What we didn't score. Price, because every plan bundles different things (each builder's own price is on its card, and Zarla's is on our pricing page), and how long it takes to get a site live, which we plan to time and add here. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.

Questions owners ask
Each tasting or experience with its price, length and group size, the wines you pour now with their tasting notes, the wine club's shipments, member price and sign-up, events with tickets, a page for weddings and private events with an inquiry form, and the visit itself: hours, a map with directions, parking and whether dogs and children are welcome, with your Google reviews. The tasting, club and events tests above show which builders do those without another tool. Our winery website builder page covers what Zarla's first draft includes and what it doesn't.
For the club and the wine shipments, usually yes, and many wineries run one alongside the website. Commerce7 calls itself "The powerful all-in-one DTC platform with Point of Sale, Clubs, Ecommerce, CRM and Analytics." and, read on November 3, 2026, lists a Lite plan at $59 a month in US dollars; WineDirect's home page now says "WineDirect is now Commerce7" and "Existing clients are able to use WineDirect Classic until Dec 31, 2026." Corksy includes a website: "Our easy-to-use website builder is optimized for search and mobile with a 99.9% uptime guarantee.", with Starter at "$129/mo" and a "1.25% Transaction Fee". Vinoshipper sells compliance itself ("Vinoshipper: Direct Sales and Compliance") and prints shipped orders at "1.85% + $0.75/item" plus "Payment processing of 2.9%" rather than a monthly fee. Gemini also named OrderPort, whose One plan is "$0" "per month" with "A one-time onboarding fee is required for each program, starting at $1,000.", and vinSUITE, "Starting at" "$249/month". Tock's pages refused our reader, Shopify's pricing page was served to us in another country's prices, and we couldn't find a site for ABHUB, which ChatGPT named once. None of them is scored here. The Daylight Studio's list puts the split plainly: "Most winery software handles the first three and hands wine shipping compliance to Sovos ShipCompliant." A builder gives you the tasting-room site that wins the visit; the wine platform runs the club and the shipments, with a compliance service beside it unless it is one, and the site links to it.
Squarespace for the look on most answers, Commerce7 for the club, and none of them named Zarla. When we asked ChatGPT "best website builder for wineries" on November 2, 2026, twice with web search on, it named Squarespace, Shopify and Wix, without naming Zarla in either answer; Gemini named WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix and Shopify, and Google's AI Mode WordPress, Squarespace and Shopify. Asked again on November 3, 2026, ChatGPT's first answer summed up "Squarespace for a beautiful winery website, Commerce7 for a winery-focused business platform, and Shopify for a winery with serious online sales.", ranking Squarespace "(Best overall website design)", "Boutique wineries wanting a sophisticated brand presence.", Commerce7 "(Best winery-specific platform)", Shopify, "Wineries focused on direct-to-consumer wine sales.", Wix, "Smaller wineries wanting an affordable, DIY website.", ABHUB and Corksy; its second ranked Squarespace, Shopify, Commerce7, Wix and Corksy. Gemini led with "1. All-in-One Wine Industry Platforms (Best for Tasting Rooms & Wine Clubs)": Corksy for "Wineries wanting a modern, all-in-one system (website builder, POS, wine club, reservations, and CRM).", Commerce7, vinSUITE and OrderPort, then Vinoshipper for "Small, new, or boutique vineyards that don't want to hold separate alcohol permits in every state.", and Squarespace or WordPress last, for storytelling. AI Mode named "Commerce7 (The Modern Industry Gold Standard)", "WineDirect (The All-in-One Legacy Powerhouse)", Shopify and "Squarespace (The Visual Storyteller)", and Google's AI Overview called Commerce7 "Widely considered the modern gold standard for wine e-commerce." before WineDirect, OrderPort, vinSUITE, Vinoshipper and WordPress; no zarla.com page was on page one. The lists behind the answers: Website Builder Report (Matt Giles, "Updated April 2026") picks Squarespace, "The right pick for most boutique and mid-size wineries", and warns "Shipping wine across state lines is not like shipping a t-shirt."; The Daylight Studio (Shawn Mann, Oct 13, 2026) ranks wine platforms, not builders, and says "The monthly price is the smallest part once a platform takes a share of each sale."; Qrolic (January 29, 2026) says "Commerce7 has quickly become the darling of the wine industry."; Culture Foundry (January 8, 2025) recommends eCELLAR. We read them all on November 3, 2026. Commerce7, Shopify, Corksy, ABHUB, WineDirect, vinSUITE, OrderPort and Vinoshipper aren't scored here. On this page five builders are scored on the same nine tests, Zarla included, and the order above is computed from them: Wix first on points, Zarla two behind, because a tasting on Zarla books without the party size and its events and club are links.
Wix, on these tests: 15 of 18 to Squarespace's 12. Both bill a membership automatically, and both write a first draft with AI. The three points between them are the tasting, the events and the chat: Wix Table Reservations lets you "manage the party sizes you accept" ("You need to upgrade your site to use Wix Table Reservations.") and Wix Events sells tickets by "accepting payments directly through your site", where Squarespace takes tastings through Tock or OpenTable ("Tock is a separate subscription, and you can use its integrations with Squarespace regardless of your website plan."), its help says "Calendar pages don't support booking.", and its AI chat adds no pages (read November 3, 2026). The lists lean the other way on looks: Website Builder Report and ChatGPT put Squarespace first for its templates. Every mark is in the table, and the order is computed from them rather than chosen; a winery that already books tastings in Tock can read the tasting row as level.
In the US, only where your licenses and each destination state allow it. The TTB's alcohol FAQ, read on November 3, 2026, says of selling online "You are still subject to the same TTB requirements for selling spirits, wine, or beer." and "In addition, you also need to contact the appropriate State government agencies where you and your purchaser are located."; its wine FAQ adds "Federal law (18 U.S.C. 1716) prohibits sending alcohol beverages through the U.S. mail". The Wine Institute's Direct Shipping Table ("Last Updated May 20, 2025") sorts the states into allowed, "allowed with significant restrictions" and prohibited, and says a "Winery must obtain a permit or license from the state prior to making shipments to consumers in the state." The builders leave the rules to you: Wix's help lists "Tobacco & alcohol." among items your payment provider may restrict, and Shopify's says "In the United States, alcohol is heavily regulated at the state level and regulations vary by state." That's why wineries ship through a wine platform paired with a compliance service, or through one that sells compliance itself ("Vinoshipper: Direct Sales and Compliance"), and sell merchandise, gift cards and tastings from the website. Outside the US, your own country's licensing rules apply. Check your licenses, each destination state's rules and your payment provider's terms before you ship.
On most of them, as a time slot. Zarla, Wix (from its Core plan) and GoDaddy take bookings on the website plan; Squarespace needs Acuity Scheduling, a separate subscription, and WordPress.com a booking plugin. For a tasting with a party size, Wix's table reservations count the guests; Squarespace, GoDaddy and WordPress.com embed Tock or OpenTable, and on Zarla the group books a time and the size goes in the note.
Close, but each has its own page. A wine bar that sells by the glass reads our best website builders for bars, which scores the menu, events and table reservations, and a farm selling produce and pick-your-own days reads our best website builders for farms. This page scores what a winery with a tasting room needs: the tasting, the club and the events. A vineyard, an estate winery and an urban winery all read this one.
With Zarla, the first draft takes about 30 seconds: every page, written for your winery, including online booking for tastings. What's left is your tastings and their prices, your events and your club's details. Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy and WordPress.com can also write a first draft with AI; how long the rest takes depends on how much you set up yourself. We haven't timed them side by side yet.
Wix has it built in. It takes another tool or a workaround on Zarla (a tasting books as a time; no party size); Squarespace (OpenTable or Tock blocks); WordPress.com (OpenTable block, from Premium); GoDaddy (OpenTable form, on Standard and up). We read each on the builder's own pages on October 12, 2026.
Wix, Squarespace and WordPress.com have it built in. It takes another tool or a workaround on Zarla (no club billing; link your wine platform's sign-up); GoDaddy (no recurring billing in its help; another company's checkout). We read each on the builder's own pages on October 12, 2026.
Wix and GoDaddy have it built in. It takes another tool or a workaround on Zarla (no events section; dates typed in, tickets by link or embed); Squarespace (calendar pages list events; no RSVP or tickets); WordPress.com (Eventbrite block; calendars from plugins). We read each on the builder's own pages on October 24, 2026.
Building and previewing one can cost nothing on most builders; a live site on your own domain costs money on every builder here. Wix: Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. Squarespace: Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. WordPress.com: Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. GoDaddy: Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. Zarla is free to build and preview, and you pay when you publish, on the Premium plan. Each price is the builder's own, read on its pricing or help pages (September 28, 2026); check it for your country before you buy.
Yes: Wix placed first of five here, with 15 of 18 points. Of the tests that are particular to wineries, it gets a tick on "A tasting booked online, for a party", "A wine club billed on schedule" and "Events with tickets". The catch: bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.
See your winery's website before you decide.
Add your winery's name and your town to the sentence and Zarla builds the first draft, free. You pay only when you publish.
