Best website builders for software companies and SaaS startups (2026)

We scored 5 website builders on the 9 things a software company needs, the same way for all of them, including Zarla, which is ours.

What's the best website builder for a software company?

For most software companies, Wix is the best website builder: it scored highest, 15 of 18 across the nine tests we ran on five builders, and it does the most for demos, the private page and the newsletter (level with GoDaddy).

If getting found on Google matters most to you, pick Zarla. GoDaddy (13) and WordPress.com (13) are close behind.

The full scores are below, with every builder's weak spot, ours included.

Zarla for software companies, in plain facts

Zarla is an AI website builder for small businesses. Describe your software company in a sentence and it writes the whole site, every page and every word, in about 30 seconds; after that you change it by typing what you want.

  • Customers book online or send you a request from your website, with no second booking subscription.
  • Price: Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.
  • Page speed: in our sample of real sites (Google PageSpeed, measured September 28, 2026), Zarla had the fastest median of the five builders here, 86 on phone and 99 on desktop. The samples differ (theirs are sites that rank on Google, ours random customer sites), as the method below explains.

No private pages yet: every published page is public, so customer-only docs and release notes live in your help desk or your app, linked from the site.

A blog whose posts the AI writes, and a newsletter sign-up form, but no newsletter sending yet: you send it from an email tool.

In this comparison: fourth of five, with 13 of 18 points.

THE SCORES

How do website builders for software companies compare?

A tick is worth 2 points, a dash 1, a cross nothing, and every test counts the same, so the most anyone can score is 18.

Checked on each builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026, and the private page for customers and release notes test on October 12, 2026, and the blog and an email newsletter test on October 12, 2026, and the leads, quotes, invoices and payments together test on October 4, 2026, and re-checked every answer on October 26, 2026; speed measured on September 28, 2026. When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.

THE LIST

The best website builders for software companies, ranked

  1. 1

    Wix

    Best for

Owners who care most about booked demos, a private customer page and a newsletter.

    What it costs

Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI builder that writes your pages from a description
    • Aria, an AI agent in the Harmony editor that edits the site and adds pages by chat
    • Wix Bookings with online payments and deposits
    The Catch

Bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  2. 2

    GoDaddy

    Best for

Owners who care most about booked demos, a private customer page and a newsletter.

    What it costs

Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Airo writes a first website for your business in Websites + Marketing
    • Online appointments with a deposit
    • Photo attachments on the contact form
    The Catch

Editing by chat, and asking the AI for new pages later, happen in Airo AI Builder, a separate GoDaddy product with its own credits; in Websites + Marketing, pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  3. 2

    WordPress.com

    Best for

For owners who want full control and don't mind choosing and looking after plugins.

    What it costs

Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI website builder on paid plans
    • An AI assistant that edits and creates pages, on every paid plan
    • Thousands of plugins
    The Catch

Booking, reviews and invoices each come from a plugin you choose, may pay for and keep updated, so the setup and upkeep are on you. Photo uploads on forms need the Business plan.

  4. 4

    Zarla

    Best for

Owners who care most about getting found on Google.

    What it costs

Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.

    Features
    • Describe your product in a sentence and Zarla writes a complete first draft in about 30 seconds
    • Buyers book a demo online and send an inquiry from the first draft's form
    • A blog whose posts the AI writes from a topic you give it, problem by problem
    The Catch

There's no private pages and no newsletter sending yet, so customer-only docs live in your help desk and the newsletter goes from an email tool, and a software company's first draft has no map or town pages. It's also newer than the big names, and you change things by typing rather than dragging.

Build my software website — free
  5. 5

    Squarespace

    Best for

Good if polished design matters most and you don't mind adding a separate booking tool.

    What it costs

Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Blueprint AI writes a multi-page starting site
    • Design-led templates
    • Invoices and online payments on every plan
    The Catch

Online booking is a second subscription, Acuity Scheduling, on top of the website plan, and it's managed in a different place.

What should a software company website include?

A buyer is deciding in thirty seconds whether your product does the one thing they came for, so the site has to say what it does and for whom, show it, price it and make the demo a click away, before anything else.

  • One sentence and a screenshot. What the product does and for whom, in the words a buyer would use, with the product on screen above the fold.
  • Pricing on the page. The plans with what each includes and a starting price, because a buyer who can't see a price assumes the worst.
  • A demo to book and a trial to start. A time a buyer picks for a demo, and the sign-up link, on every page.
  • Customer stories and the docs. Three customers with the problem and the result, public docs for buyers, and a private page for the rest.
  • The release notes and the blog. What shipped this month, and a post on each problem the product solves, because that's the search that finds you.

How did we score the website builders?

The 9 tests, and what it takes to get a tick:

  • Demos booked online. A buyer who can book a demo for Thursday at 2 doesn't fill in a form and wait. Tick: they book a time on your site, on the website plan. Dash: it needs a second subscription, a plugin or another company's scheduler.
  • A private page for customers and release notes. Setup guides, release notes and the roadmap are for customers, not competitors. Tick: a password-protected or members-only page on the website plan. Dash: only on a higher plan or with a plugin. Cross: every published page is public.
  • A blog and an email newsletter. A post on the problem the product solves is how buyers find you, and a newsletter is how a trial becomes a customer. Tick: a blog and email newsletters you send to subscribers, both built in on the website plan. Dash: one of them, or the other only from an add-on, a plugin or another company.
  • Finished first draft. The product takes every hour. The marketing site should take an evening, and a founder shouldn't ship it with a to-do list on the home page. Tick: it writes the whole site, pages and words, from a description of your business. Dash: templates, or AI that only writes some of it.
  • Edit by chat, new pages by AI. Pricing, the feature list and the latest release change every month. Updating them should take a sentence, not a deploy. Tick: you type a change and the site updates, and you can ask for a new page and get one.
  • Local search set up for you. A software company sells everywhere, but "IT support in" your city and "software developer near me" still bring the first customers who want to meet, and the one with reviews from that city gets the meeting. Tick: a map of the areas you cover, a page for each town, and your Google reviews on the site, all built in. Dash: some of that, or only with add-ons.
  • Search coaching. Each problem the product solves is a search of its own, and so is every tool it replaces, and each is a page worth having. Tick: something that checks your site and tells you what to fix, plus a Google Search Console connection that turns your search data into ideas for new pages. Dash: one of the two.
  • Fast pages, measured. A buyer judges a software company by its own website's speed, on a phone, from a link in a cold email. We measured this ourselves with Google's PageSpeed test on real sites built with each builder. Tick: a typical phone score of 90 or more, which Google calls good. Dash: 50 to 89. Cross: under 50.
  • Leads, quotes, invoices and payments together. An annual plan quoted and accepted online, the invoice paid by bank transfer and the receipt, in one place rather than the product's billing and a spreadsheet. Tick: a leads inbox, quotes your customers accept online, invoices and online payments, all built in. Dash: some of them, or only with plugins.

How we picked them. When we asked ChatGPT "What is the best website builder for a software company? Give me your top 5." on October 26, 2026, twice, its answers named Webflow, Framer, WordPress, HubSpot Content Hub and Wix. We score the general builders that appear on every page in this series, Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy (its Websites + Marketing builder) and WordPress.com, whether ChatGPT named them this time or not. Zarla is ours. We haven't scored HubSpot Content Hub on this page. Webflow and Framer are scored on our best AI website builders comparison, on that page's tests, and "Wix Studio" is the Wix scored here. HubSpot Content Hub is a marketing platform rather than a builder anyone signs up to and builds with, and the question below answers it from its own page. Yola has no software list.

How we scored them. Same tests for everyone, each worth the same. We checked every answer on the builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026, and the private page for customers and release notes test on October 12, 2026, and the blog and an email newsletter test on October 12, 2026, and the leads, quotes, invoices and payments together test on October 4, 2026, and re-checked every answer on October 26, 2026. godaddy.com blocks automated reading of some of its pages, so where we couldn't open one, we read GoDaddy's page as Google indexes it. When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.

How we measured speed. Google's PageSpeed test, three runs each on phone and desktop, on up to ten real sites per builder. For the others we used the first sites built with them that came up in Google for home-service businesses in five US cities (for WordPress, any WordPress site). Zarla sites don't rank in those searches yet, so we picked ten at random from our customers' published sites and don't name them. It's a sample, not a promise about any one site.

What we didn't score. Price, because every plan bundles different things (each builder's own price is on its card, and Zarla's is on our pricing page), and how long it takes to get a site live, which we plan to time and add here. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.

Questions owners ask

What should a software company website have?

One sentence on what the product does and for whom with a screenshot, pricing on the page, a demo to book and a trial to start on every page, three customer stories, public docs and a private page for the rest, the release notes and a blog. Our software company business plan runs the numbers on a small product's first year, and our software website inspiration gallery shows real product sites built that way.

What are the top 5 website builder platforms?

For a software company, the five ChatGPT named on October 26, 2026 were Webflow, Framer, WordPress, HubSpot Content Hub and Wix Studio, the same both times, and the question below says what each is; Webflow and Framer are scored on our best AI website builders page. The five scored here are the general ones every page in this series scores, on the tests a small software company runs on, and the answer at the top of the page is computed from them. For a small business in general, our best website builders for small business page scores the ones ChatGPT names most often on the tests every trade shares.

What are the 7 C's of a website?

A marketing-class framework, not a technical one: context, content, community, customization, communication, connection and commerce. For a product site they collapse to three: say what it does (content), show who else uses it (community) and let a buyer act (commerce), which on this page are the first-draft, the demo and the office tests. A framework won't tell you which builder does them; the table above does.

Is Canva or Wix better for a software company?

For the marketing site, Wix: it's scored here, with a first draft written by AI, demos booked on its Core plan, password-protected pages and a blog with built-in email, and its marks are in the table above. Canva isn't scored on this page; it is scored on our best free website builders page, where it placed first on what you can publish without paying. A founder who already makes the pitch deck in Canva can publish a one-page site there for nothing, and the free page's tests say what that site does and doesn't; the tests here are the ones a software company sells on, the demo, the docs and the invoice.

Is web design still worth it in 2026?

For a software company that sells to enterprises, often yes: an agency builds the brand and the site becomes part of the pitch, and Webflow and Framer, which ChatGPT names first, are where agencies build those sites; neither is scored here, both are on our AI page. For a small company selling a tool to small businesses, the site's job is a sentence, a screenshot, a price and a demo button, and the first-draft test above scores which builders write that in an afternoon. ChatGPT drew the same line, asked on October 26, 2026: the builders it named are "primarily tools for building your marketing website, not necessarily your software product itself."

Do I need HubSpot Content Hub instead of a website builder?

Only if your sales team already runs on HubSpot. Its own page (read October 26, 2026) describes it as "AI-powered content creation and CMS to create, repurpose, and manage content all in one place." and says you can "Build and manage your website with a scalable CMS.", and its pricing page renders by script, so the price is on its own site; it isn't scored here. The thing it does that the builders on this page don't is tie every page view to a CRM record and a sales sequence. The office test above scores the builder's own leads inbox, quotes and invoices, which is enough for a company with one person selling.

Is this the right guide for an IT services company or an agency?

No: an IT services company sells support contracts billed monthly and quoted jobs, and our best website builders for IT services scores membership billing and quote requests for that trade. This page scores what a product company needs instead, the booked demo, the private customer page and the newsletter; a company that sells both a product and services reads both.

Is Wix or GoDaddy better for a software company website?

Wix, on these tests: 15 of 18 to GoDaddy's 13. Both write a first draft with AI, both book a demo on the website plan, both keep a page private and both have a blog with email marketing in the plan; the difference is the chat and the office: Wix's AI edits and adds pages by chat and it keeps price quotes, invoices and payments together, where GoDaddy's chat editing is a separate product and its invoices come with no quotes built in. The table above has every mark, and the order is computed from them rather than chosen, so read the scores rather than take our word for it.

What do ChatGPT and the review sites say is the best website builder for a software company?

Asked twice on October 26, 2026, ChatGPT named the same five both times, Webflow first, then Framer, WordPress, HubSpot Content Hub and Wix Studio, and said in its first answer that it was comparing builders for the marketing website rather than the product; it didn't name Zarla. Its sources for the second answer included WebsiteBuilderReport (updated April 2026), which names Webflow for SaaS companies with Framer as runner-up. Yola has no software list. None of those pages scores the builders on the same tests, which is what the table above does; read the marks, not the names.

How long does it take to make a software company website?

With Zarla, the first draft takes about 30 seconds: every page, written for your software company, including a contact form. What's left is your screenshots, your pricing and three customer stories. Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy and WordPress.com can also write a first draft with AI; how long the rest takes depends on how much you set up yourself. A pricing page is added when you ask for it in chat. We haven't timed them side by side yet.

Which website builders let a buyer book a demo online?

Wix, GoDaddy and Zarla have it built in. It takes another tool or a workaround on WordPress.com (with a booking plugin); Squarespace (Acuity Scheduling, a separate subscription). We read each on the builder's own pages on September 28, 2026, and re-checked them on October 26, 2026.

Which website builders keep a customer-only docs page private?

Wix, GoDaddy, WordPress.com and Squarespace have it built in. Zarla can't do it. We read each on the builder's own pages on October 12, 2026, and re-checked them on October 26, 2026.

How much does a software company website cost?

Building and previewing one can cost nothing on most builders; a live site on your own domain costs money on every builder here. Wix: Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. GoDaddy: Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. WordPress.com: Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. Squarespace: Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. Zarla is free to build and preview, and you pay when you publish, on the Premium plan. Each price is the builder's own, read on its pricing or help pages (September 28, 2026); check it for your country before you buy.

Which website builders let customers accept a quote online?

Wix has Price Quotes that clients accept online and that can turn into an invoice. GoDaddy sends invoices, with a payment schedule for deposits, but has no quotes built in. WordPress.com needs a quote plugin from another company. Zarla sends a quote as one link: the customer picks an option, ticks any extras and accepts it, and Zarla drafts the invoice for what they chose, with any deposit you asked for, ready for you to send. Squarespace sends estimates and proposals with an Accept button, from its Basic plan. For a software company the quote is the proposal for an annual plan: the leads, quotes, invoices and payments test above scores which builders let a buyer accept one online, and the invoice for the year follows it. We read each builder's quoting on its own pages on October 4, 2026.

Is Wix good for a software company?

Yes: Wix placed first of five here, with 15 of 18 points. Of the tests that are particular to software companies, it gets a tick on "Demos booked online", "A private page for customers and release notes" and "A blog and an email newsletter". The catch: bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.
