What's the best website builder for an architect?

For most architects, Wix is the best website builder: it scored highest, 15 of 18 across the nine tests we ran on five builders, and it does the most for meetings, the gallery and inquiries (level with GoDaddy).

If getting found on Google matters most to you, pick Zarla. GoDaddy (13) is close behind.

The full scores are below, with every builder's weak spot, ours included.

Zarla for architects, in plain facts

Zarla is an AI website builder for small businesses. Describe your architecture firm in a sentence and it writes the whole site, every page and every word, in about 30 seconds; after that you change it by typing what you want.

  • Customers book online or send you a request from your website, with no second booking subscription.
  • Price: Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.
  • Page speed: in our sample of real sites (Google PageSpeed, measured September 28, 2026), Zarla had the fastest median of the five builders here, 86 on phone and 99 on desktop. The samples differ (theirs are sites that rank on Google, ours random customer sites), as the method below explains.

A project gallery is added by asking in chat and laid out for you, but there's no tap-to-enlarge view yet: a visitor sees each project at the size the layout gives it.

A contact form comes on the first draft; the site, project type and budget fields are added by asking in chat.

In this comparison: second of five, with 14 of 18 points.

THE LIST

The best website builders for architects, ranked

  1. 1

    Wix

    Best for

Owners who care most about booked first meetings, a full-size project gallery and project inquiries.

    What it costs

Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI builder that writes your pages from a description
    • Aria, an AI agent in the Harmony editor that edits the site and adds pages by chat
    • Wix Bookings with online payments and deposits
    The Catch

Bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  2. 2

    Zarla

    Best for

Owners who care most about getting found on Google.

    What it costs

Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.

    Features
    • Describe your practice in a sentence and Zarla writes a complete first draft in about 30 seconds, services included
    • Clients book a first meeting online
    • A fee proposal sent as one link the client accepts, with invoices by stage from the same dashboard
    The Catch

There's no tap-to-enlarge gallery view yet, so a client sees each project at the size the layout gives it, and the project gallery and the inquiry form's budget field are added by chat; a practice's first draft has no map or town pages. It's also newer than the big names.

  3. 3

    GoDaddy

    Best for

Owners who care most about booked first meetings, a full-size project gallery and project inquiries.

    What it costs

Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Airo writes a first website for your business in Websites + Marketing
    • Online appointments with a deposit
    • Photo attachments on the contact form
    The Catch

Editing by chat, and asking the AI for new pages later, happen in Airo AI Builder, a separate GoDaddy product with its own credits; in Websites + Marketing, pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  4. 4

    Squarespace

    Best for

Good if polished design matters most and you don't mind adding a separate booking tool.

    What it costs

Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Blueprint AI writes a multi-page starting site
    • Design-led templates
    • Invoices and online payments on every plan
    The Catch

Online booking is a second subscription, Acuity Scheduling, on top of the website plan, and it's managed in a different place.

  5. 4

    WordPress.com

    Best for

For owners who want full control and don't mind choosing and looking after plugins.

    What it costs

Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI website builder on paid plans
    • An AI assistant that edits and creates pages, on every paid plan
    • Thousands of plugins
    The Catch

Booking, reviews and invoices each come from a plugin you choose, may pay for and keep updated, so the setup and upkeep are on you. Photo uploads on forms need the Business plan.

What should an architecture firm website include?

A homeowner or a developer looking at your site is about to spend more with you than on anything but the land, so the page has to show buildings like theirs, say how you work and what it costs, and make the first step a meeting they can book.

  • Projects, each with a story. Six to ten, each the brief, the site, the drawings and the finished photographs a client can open full size, sorted by the kind of work you want more of.
  • Services and how you work. Feasibility, concept design, planning, documentation and construction administration, with what each stage delivers.
  • How you charge. A percentage of construction cost, a fixed fee by stage or an hourly rate, and where that starts.
  • Who you are and your registration. The people in the practice, your license or registration, and your awards and press.
  • The first meeting. A first meeting to book on every page, and an inquiry form that asks the site, the project type and the budget.

How did we score the website builders?

The 9 tests, and what it takes to get a tick:

  • First meetings booked online. A homeowner who can pick a time for a first conversation hasn't emailed three other practices by morning. Tick: they book a time on your site, on the website plan. Dash: it needs a second subscription, a plugin or another company's scheduler.
  • Projects in a gallery that opens full size. Clients choose the architect whose buildings look like the one they want. Tick: gallery layouts built in, and a visitor taps a project photo to see it full size. Dash: galleries with no full-size view, or only through an app. Cross: no gallery.
  • Project inquiries with the site, type and budget. Every commission starts with a site, a project type and a budget. Tick: an inquiry form that asks for those details comes ready to use. Dash: you build one yourself from a general form.
  • Finished first draft. Drawings and site visits fill the week. The website shouldn't take a weekend. Tick: it writes the whole site, pages and words, from a description of your business. Dash: templates, or AI that only writes some of it.
  • Edit by chat, new pages by AI. A finished project, a new service and a new team member should take a sentence to add. Tick: you type a change and the site updates, and you can ask for a new page and get one.
  • Local search set up for you. A homeowner searches for an architect in their own city and a developer for one who knows the local planning office, and the practice with projects from that city gets the first meeting. Tick: a map of the areas you cover, a page for each town, and your Google reviews on the site, all built in. Dash: some of that, or only with add-ons.
  • Search coaching. Residential architect, commercial architect and renovation architect are separate searches, and each is a page worth having. Tick: something that checks your site and tells you what to fix, plus a Google Search Console connection that turns your search data into ideas for new pages. Dash: one of the two.
  • Fast pages, measured. A client looks at your site on a phone between contractors' quotes and judges it in the first few seconds. We measured this ourselves with Google's PageSpeed test on real sites built with each builder. Tick: a typical phone score of 90 or more, which Google calls good. Dash: 50 to 89. Cross: under 50.
  • Leads, quotes, invoices and payments together. The fee proposal accepted online, the stage invoices and the payments, without three logins. Tick: a leads inbox, quotes your customers accept online, invoices and online payments, all built in. Dash: some of them, or only with plugins.

How we picked them. When we asked ChatGPT "What is the best website builder for an architecture firm? Give me your top 5." on October 26, 2026, twice, its answers named Framer, Webflow, Squarespace, WordPress and Wix. We score the general builders that appear on every page in this series, Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy (its Websites + Marketing builder) and WordPress.com, whether ChatGPT named them this time or not. Zarla is ours. We haven't scored Framer and Webflow on this page. Framer and Webflow sit on our best AI website builders comparison with their own scores on that page's tests, so this page scores the five builders every trade page carries instead. Yola's own page "The 5 best website builders for architects" (last updated 18 September 2026), which ranks Yola first, says of its own builder: "No 3D viewer or BIM file integration for practices that want to showcase technical drawings or models online" and "Limited project filtering tools for practices with large portfolios spanning multiple typologies".

How we scored them. Same tests for everyone, each worth the same. We checked every answer on the builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026, and the projects in a gallery that opens full size test on October 24, 2026, and the leads, quotes, invoices and payments together test on October 4, 2026, and re-checked every answer on October 26, 2026. godaddy.com blocks automated reading of some of its pages, so where we couldn't open one, we read GoDaddy's page as Google indexes it. When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.

How we measured speed. Google's PageSpeed test, three runs each on phone and desktop, on up to ten real sites per builder. For the others we used the first sites built with them that came up in Google for home-service businesses in five US cities (for WordPress, any WordPress site). Zarla sites don't rank in those searches yet, so we picked ten at random from our customers' published sites and don't name them. It's a sample, not a promise about any one site.

What we didn't score. Price, because every plan bundles different things (each builder's own price is on its card, and Zarla's is on our pricing page), and how long it takes to get a site live, which we plan to time and add here. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.

Questions owners ask

What should an architecture firm website have?

Six to ten projects a client can open full size, each with the brief and the site; your services as stages with what each delivers; how you charge, at least as a starting point; the people in the practice and your registration; a first meeting to book on every page; and an inquiry form that asks the site, the project type and the budget. Our architecture firm business plan covers the numbers, and our architect website inspiration gallery shows real practice sites built that way.

What are the top 5 architecture firms?

Gensler, Perkins&Will, HKS, Corgan and Populous head Comrade's 25 best architect websites (7 October 2026), the examples list Google shows for that search, and that's who those lists are about: large firms with a studio of their own designing the site. What their sites do, a small practice can do with a builder: one page per project with the photographs opening full size, a clear line on the kind of work you take and one way to start the conversation. The gallery and booking tests above score which builders do that on the website plan.

Which app is best for architecture?

If you mean drawing and modelling, that's design software, Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp and Rhino, and practice software such as Monograph runs projects and fees; none of it is scored here, because none builds the site a client finds on Google. Google also mixes this search with Thrive Architect, a WordPress landing-page plugin that has nothing to do with buildings. The builders on this page host the site; the first-draft and chat tests above show which write it for you and which keep the project gallery, the meeting and the fee proposal in the website plan.

Is this the right guide for an engineering firm or an interior designer?

An engineering firm has its own page: our best website builders for engineering firms scores project inquiries, a project gallery and a blog with a newsletter, because engineers are hired on technical writing as much as on photographs. An interior designer's tests are closest to these, the gallery, the first meeting and the inquiry, and Zarla's interior design website builder writes that first draft; an interior designer's own scored comparison isn't on this site yet.

Do I have to show my license on the website?

In the US, architecture is licensed state by state: the title "architect" is protected in every state, a firm offering architectural services needs a licensed architect in responsible charge and, in many states, a certificate of authorization to practice as a firm, and some state boards require the license or certificate number on advertising, which includes the website. Every builder here can put that line in the footer; Zarla adds it when you type it in chat. Check your state board's rules before you publish, and the equivalent registration board's if you practice outside the US.

Is Squarespace or Wix better for an architecture website?

Wix, on these tests: 15 of 18 to Squarespace's 12. Both write a first draft with AI and both open a project photo full size, Wix in its Pro Gallery and Squarespace with a lightbox; the difference is the meeting and the inquiry form: Wix books a first meeting on its Core plan and has a price-quote form template ready to use, where Squarespace's booking is Acuity Scheduling, a separate subscription, and its forms are general blocks with no template. ChatGPT names Framer and Webflow for the design control, and that's real; it isn't one of these tests. The table above has every mark, and the order is computed from them rather than chosen, so read the scores rather than take our word for it.

Can clients book a first meeting online?

On most of them. Zarla, Wix (from its Core plan) and GoDaddy take bookings on the website plan; Squarespace needs Acuity Scheduling, a separate subscription, and WordPress.com a booking plugin.

What do ChatGPT, Yola and the review sites say is the best website builder for an architect?

Asked twice on October 26, 2026, ChatGPT named the same five both times, Framer first once and Webflow first once, then Squarespace, WordPress and Wix, and said its picks "reflect the platforms' relative strengths for architecture portfolios, rather than a universal ranking"; it didn't name Zarla. Its sources were two architecture-studio roundups (16 and 1 October 2026) and TechRadar's reviews. Yola's own list (last updated September 18, 2026) ranks Yola first and names its limits: "No 3D viewer or BIM file integration for practices that want to showcase technical drawings or models online". Framer's own pricing page (read October 26, 2026) prints Basic at "$10, per month" and Pro at "$30, per month" on its yearly toggle; Webflow's prints Basic at "$ 15 /mo billed yearly" and Premium at "$ 25 /mo billed yearly". None of those pages scores the builders on the same tests; the table above does, and Framer and Webflow aren't scored here.

How long does it take to make an architecture firm website?

With Zarla, the first draft takes about 30 seconds: every page, written for your architecture firm, including a contact form and a call-back request. What's left is your projects, your fees and the people in the practice. Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy and WordPress.com can also write a first draft with AI; how long the rest takes depends on how much you set up yourself. We haven't timed them side by side yet.

Which website builders open a project photo full size when a client taps it?

Wix, GoDaddy, Squarespace and WordPress.com have it built in. It takes another tool or a workaround on Zarla (project gallery added by chat; no tap-to-enlarge view). We read each on the builder's own pages on October 24, 2026, and re-checked them on October 26, 2026.

Which website builders let clients book a first meeting online?

Wix, Zarla and GoDaddy have it built in. It takes another tool or a workaround on Squarespace (Acuity Scheduling, a separate subscription); WordPress.com (with a booking plugin). We read each on the builder's own pages on September 28, 2026, and re-checked them on October 26, 2026.

How much does an architecture firm website cost?

Building and previewing one can cost nothing on most builders; a live site on your own domain costs money on every builder here. Wix: Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. GoDaddy: Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. Squarespace: Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. WordPress.com: Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. Zarla is free to build and preview, and you pay when you publish, on the Premium plan. Each price is the builder's own, read on its pricing or help pages (September 28, 2026); check it for your country before you buy.

Which website builders let customers accept a quote online?

Wix has Price Quotes that clients accept online and that can turn into an invoice. Zarla sends a quote as one link: the customer picks an option, ticks any extras and accepts it, and Zarla drafts the invoice for what they chose, with any deposit you asked for, ready for you to send. GoDaddy sends invoices, with a payment schedule for deposits, but has no quotes built in. Squarespace sends estimates and proposals with an Accept button, from its Basic plan. WordPress.com needs a quote plugin from another company. For an architect the quote is the fee proposal: the leads, quotes, invoices and payments test above scores which builders let a client accept one online, and the first invoice follows the signed proposal. We read each builder's quoting on its own pages on October 4, 2026.

Is Wix good for an architecture firm?

Yes: Wix placed first of five here, with 15 of 18 points. Of the tests that are particular to architects, it gets a tick on "First meetings booked online", "Projects in a gallery that opens full size" and "Project inquiries with the site, type and budget". The catch: bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.
