What's the best website builder for a musician?

For most musicians, Wix is the best website builder: it scored highest, 15 of 18 across the nine tests we ran on five builders, and it does the most for shows and music on the page (level with GoDaddy).

If getting found on Google matters most to you, pick Zarla. GoDaddy (13), Squarespace (13) and WordPress.com (13) are close behind.

The full scores are below, with every builder's weak spot, ours included.

Zarla for musicians, in plain facts

Zarla is an AI website builder for small businesses. Describe your band in a sentence and it writes the whole site, every page and every word, in about 30 seconds; after that you change it by typing what you want.

  • An online store, with checkout through your own Stripe account and orders in your dashboard.
  • Price: Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.
  • Page speed: in our sample of real sites (Google PageSpeed, measured September 28, 2026), Zarla had the fastest median of the five builders here, 86 on phone and 99 on desktop. The samples differ (theirs are sites that rank on Google, ours random customer sites), as the method below explains.

No events section yet: you type your dates into a section and keep them current by chat, and tickets or RSVPs run on a service you link or embed.

No music player built in: videos play on the page, and your tracks play from a Spotify, Bandcamp or SoundCloud embed pasted into the Custom Code box.

In this comparison: second of five, with 14 of 18 points.

THE SCORES

Checked on each builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026, and the merch and music sold from the site test on October 17, 2026, and the leads, quotes, invoices and payments together test on October 4, 2026, and re-checked every answer on October 24, 2026; speed measured on September 28, 2026. When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.

THE LIST

The best website builders for musicians, ranked

  1. 1

    Wix

    Best for

Owners who care most about shows with tickets and music that plays on the page.

    What it costs

Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI builder that writes your pages from a description
    • Aria, an AI agent in the Harmony editor that edits the site and adds pages by chat
    • Wix Bookings with online payments and deposits
    The Catch

Bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  2. 2

    Zarla

    Best for

Owners who care most about getting found on Google.

    What it costs

Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.

    Features
    • Describe your act in a sentence and Zarla writes a complete first draft in about 30 seconds
    • Merch, vinyl and music downloads sold from your site through your own Stripe
    • An event inquiry form that asks the date, the venue and the kind of event
    The Catch

There's no music player or events section built in, so tracks play from a pasted Spotify or Bandcamp embed and show dates are typed in, with tickets sold elsewhere. It's also newer than the big names.

  3. 3

    GoDaddy

    Best for

Owners who care most about shows with tickets and music that plays on the page.

    What it costs

Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Airo writes a first website for your business in Websites + Marketing
    • Online appointments with a deposit
    • Photo attachments on the contact form
    The Catch

Editing by chat, and asking the AI for new pages later, happen in Airo AI Builder, a separate GoDaddy product with its own credits; in Websites + Marketing, pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  4. 3

    Squarespace

    Best for

Good if polished design matters most and you don't mind adding a separate booking tool.

    What it costs

Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Blueprint AI writes a multi-page starting site
    • Design-led templates
    • Invoices and online payments on every plan
    The Catch

Online booking is a second subscription, Acuity Scheduling, on top of the website plan, and it's managed in a different place.

  5. 3

    WordPress.com

    Best for

For owners who want full control and don't mind choosing and looking after plugins.

    What it costs

Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI website builder on paid plans
    • An AI assistant that edits and creates pages, on every paid plan
    • Thousands of plugins
    The Catch

Booking, reviews and invoices each come from a plugin you choose, may pay for and keep updated, so the setup and upkeep are on you. Photo uploads on forms need the Business plan.

What should a band website include?

A booker, a couple and a fan each want one thing in the first ten seconds: how you sound, where you're playing, and how to book or buy. The site has to answer all three before they scroll.

  • How you sound. Two or three live videos and your best tracks playing on the page, not a link away.
  • Where you're playing. Upcoming shows with dates, venues and tickets, kept current.
  • How to book you. Packages for weddings, parties and corporate events, what's included, and a form that asks the date and the venue.
  • A press kit. Your bio, photos, stage plot and the links a booker or a venue needs, on one page.
  • Merch and a mailing list. Shirts, vinyl and downloads for sale, and a sign-up so fans hear about the next show.

How did we score the website builders?

The 9 tests, and what it takes to get a tick:

  • Shows and tour dates with tickets. Fans and bookers check where you're playing next before anything else. Tick: an events list with dates built in, where fans RSVP or buy a ticket on the site. Dash: a list you keep by hand, with tickets through another company's tool or a pasted embed. Cross: no way to list shows.
  • Your music plays on the page. A booker gives you thirty seconds, and the track has to play where they are. Tick: a music section built into the builder that plays tracks you upload or stream from Spotify, SoundCloud or Bandcamp. Dash: a player only by pasting another company's embed code into a code box. Cross: no way to play music.
  • Merch and music sold from the site. Shirts, vinyl and downloads sold from your own site keep the platform's cut. Tick: a store with checkout built in, on a plan the builder sells. Dash: a store only through another company's checkout or a plugin. Cross: no way to sell.
  • Finished first draft. Rehearsal, the gig and the drive home are the week. The website shouldn't take the day off too. Tick: it writes the whole site, pages and words, from a description of your business. Dash: templates, or AI that only writes some of it.
  • Edit by chat, new pages by AI. A new show, a new single, a new live video: the site changes every week, and each change should take a sentence. Tick: you type a change and the site updates, and you can ask for a new page and get one.
  • Local search set up for you. A couple looking for a wedding band and a venue booking a Friday both search for live music near them. Tick: a map of the areas you cover, a page for each town, and your Google reviews on the site, all built in. Dash: some of that, or only with add-ons.
  • Search coaching. Wedding band, jazz trio and corporate entertainment are separate searches, and each is a page worth having. Tick: something that checks your site and tells you what to fix, plus a Google Search Console connection that turns your search data into ideas for new pages. Dash: one of the two.
  • Fast pages, measured. A booker opens your link between emails on a phone and gives you thirty seconds. We measured this ourselves with Google's PageSpeed test on real sites built with each builder. Tick: a typical phone score of 90 or more, which Google calls good. Dash: 50 to 89. Cross: under 50.
  • Leads, quotes, invoices and payments together. A date inquiry, the quote for the night, the deposit and the final invoice belong in one place rather than a text thread. Tick: a leads inbox, quotes your customers accept online, invoices and online payments, all built in. Dash: some of them, or only with plugins.

How we picked them. When we asked ChatGPT "What is the best website builder for a musician? Give me your top 5." on October 24, 2026, twice, its answers named Bandzoogle, Wix, Squarespace, WordPress and Shopify. We score the general builders that appear on every page in this series, Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy (its Websites + Marketing builder) and WordPress.com, whether ChatGPT named them this time or not. Zarla is ours. We haven't scored Bandzoogle and Shopify yet. Bandzoogle is a website builder made for musicians and Shopify is a store first, scored on our best website builders for small business comparison; the questions below cover both.

How we scored them. Same tests for everyone, each worth the same. We checked every answer on the builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026, and the merch and music sold from the site test on October 17, 2026, and the leads, quotes, invoices and payments together test on October 4, 2026, and re-checked every answer on October 24, 2026. godaddy.com blocks automated reading of some of its pages, so where we couldn't open one, we read GoDaddy's page as Google indexes it. When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.

How we measured speed. Google's PageSpeed test, three runs each on phone and desktop, on up to ten real sites per builder. For the others we used the first sites built with them that came up in Google for home-service businesses in five US cities (for WordPress, any WordPress site). Zarla sites don't rank in those searches yet, so we picked ten at random from our customers' published sites and don't name them. It's a sample, not a promise about any one site.

What we didn't score. Price, because every plan bundles different things (each builder's own price is on its card, and Zarla's is on our pricing page), and how long it takes to get a site live, which we plan to time and add here. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.

Other trades. The same tests for cleaning businesses, junk removal companies, car detailing businesses, pressure washing businesses, plumbers, pet sitters and dog walkers, handyman businesses, construction companies, moving companies, remodelers, towing companies, tree service companies, painters, electricians, HVAC companies, roofing companies, landscapers, Christmas light installers, window tinting businesses, mobile mechanics, pool service companies, home care agencies, blinds and shutters companies, hair salons, restaurants, auto repair shops, barbershops, gyms, dog groomers, daycares, solar companies, life coaches, appliance repair businesses, notaries, consultants, tutoring businesses, laundromats, IT services companies, day spas, locksmiths, artists, nonprofits, therapists.

Questions owners ask

What should a musician website have?

A short bio, live videos and your best tracks playing on the page, upcoming shows with tickets, packages for weddings and private events if you play them, a press kit with photos and a stage plot, merch and downloads, your social links, and a way to ask about a date. The shows, music and merch tests above show which builders do those without another tool. Our guide to becoming a working musician covers the gigs, the money and the first bookings.

Do I need Bandzoogle instead of a general builder?

Bandzoogle is a website builder made for musicians, and ChatGPT named it first both times we asked. Its website plans are Lite at $9.16, Standard at $14.16 and Pro at $18.33 a month billed annually, after a 14-day free trial, with "0% commission—you keep what you make" on sales, and its cheapest plan lists music players, a tour calendar and a contact form. It isn't scored here; we read its pricing page on October 24, 2026. If the website's whole job is the music, it's the specialist; if you also book weddings and corporate gigs and want quotes, invoices and payments in one place, the table above is the comparison.

What is the best free website builder for a musician?

You can build for free on most of them, but a site on your own domain costs money everywhere. Wix has a free plan on a wixsite.com address, and WordPress.com has a free plan on its own address, though its AI builder and its audio block are on paid plans; Bandzoogle gives you 14 days free. Zarla is free to build and preview, and you pay when you publish, on the Premium plan. Our free website builders comparison scores what each one lets you publish for free.

How do I get booked for weddings and private events from my website?

Give a couple or a planner what they check: a live video of you playing a wedding, two or three packages with what's included and a starting price, the towns you travel to, and a form that asks the date, the venue and the kind of event. Answer within the hour, send the quote for the night with a deposit that holds the date, and ask for a review afterwards. On Zarla the event inquiry form asks the date and the venue and every inquiry lands in one inbox; the quote goes out as one link and the deposit as a payment link.

How long does it take to make a band website?

With Zarla, the first draft takes about 30 seconds: every page, written for your band, including a contact form and a gallery. What's left is your live videos, your show dates and your packages for private events. Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy and WordPress.com can also write a first draft with AI; how long the rest takes depends on how much you set up yourself. We haven't timed them side by side yet.

Which website builders play your music on the page?

Wix, GoDaddy, Squarespace and WordPress.com have it built in. It takes another tool or a workaround on Zarla (no music player; videos play; paste a Spotify or Bandcamp embed). We read each on the builder's own pages on October 24, 2026.

Which website builders list shows with tickets?

Wix and GoDaddy have it built in. It takes another tool or a workaround on Zarla (no events section; dates typed in, tickets by link or embed); Squarespace (calendar pages list events; no RSVP or tickets); WordPress.com (Eventbrite block; calendars from plugins). We read each on the builder's own pages on October 24, 2026.

Which website builders sell merch and music from the site?

On Zarla, songs and albums sell as files fans download after checkout, and shirts and vinyl ship at a flat rate or are picked up. Wix, Zarla, GoDaddy, Squarespace and WordPress.com have it built in. We read each on the builder's own pages on October 17, 2026, and re-checked them on October 24, 2026.

How much does a band website cost?

Building and previewing one can cost nothing on most builders; a live site on your own domain costs money on every builder here. Wix: Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. GoDaddy: Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. Squarespace: Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. WordPress.com: Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. Zarla is free to build and preview, and you pay when you publish, on the Premium plan. Each price is the builder's own, read on its pricing or help pages (September 28, 2026); check it for your country before you buy.

Which website builders let customers accept a quote online?

Wix has Price Quotes that clients accept online and that can turn into an invoice. Zarla sends a quote as one link: the customer picks an option, ticks any extras and accepts it, and Zarla drafts the invoice for what they chose, with any deposit you asked for, ready for you to send. GoDaddy sends invoices, with a payment schedule for deposits, but has no quotes built in. Squarespace sends estimates and proposals with an Accept button, from its Basic plan. WordPress.com needs a quote plugin from another company. For a band the quote is the price for the night: the leads, quotes, invoices and payments test above scores which builders let a couple or a venue accept one online, and an accepted quote with a deposit holds the date. We read each builder's quoting on its own pages on October 4, 2026.

Is Wix good for a band?

Yes: Wix placed first of five here, with 15 of 18 points. Of the tests that are particular to musicians, it gets a tick on "Shows and tour dates with tickets", "Your music plays on the page" and "Merch and music sold from the site". The catch: bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.
