What's the best website builder for a car dealership?

For most car dealerships, Zarla is the best website builder: it scored highest, 15 of 18 across the nine tests we ran on five builders, and it does the most to get you found on Google.

If the photos, the monthly payment and booked test drives matter most to you, pick Wix or GoDaddy.

The full scores are below, with every builder's weak spot, ours included.

Zarla for car dealerships, in plain facts

Zarla is an AI website builder for small businesses. Describe your car dealership in a sentence and it writes the whole site, every page and every word, in about 30 seconds; after that you change it by typing what you want.

  • Customers book online or send you a request from your website, with no second booking subscription.
  • Price: Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.
  • Page speed: in our sample of real sites (Google PageSpeed, measured September 28, 2026), Zarla had the fastest median of the five builders here, 86 on phone and 99 on desktop. The samples differ (theirs are sites that rank on Google, ours random customer sites), as the method below explains.

Gallery layouts are picked for your kind of business and show your work on the pages that need it, but there's no tap-to-enlarge view yet: a visitor sees each piece at the size the layout gives it.

No financing calculator built in: you paste one from another company into the Custom Code box.

In this comparison: first of five, with 15 of 18 points.

THE LIST

The best website builders for car dealerships, ranked

  1. 1

    Zarla

    Best for

Owners who care most about getting found on Google.

    What it costs

Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.

    Features
    • Describe your lot in a sentence and Zarla writes a complete first draft in about 30 seconds, featured cars included
    • Buyers book a test drive online and send a trade-in inquiry from the first draft's form
    • A service-area map and, when you list your towns, a page for each one
    The Catch

There's no tap-to-enlarge gallery view and no payment calculator built in yet, so a buyer sees each car at the size the layout gives it and the calculator is another company's widget pasted into the Custom Code box, and there's no inventory feed from your DMS. It's also newer than the big names.

  2. 2

    Wix

    Best for

Owners who care most about a full-size gallery, a payment calculator and booked test drives.

    What it costs

Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI builder that writes your pages from a description
    • Aria, an AI agent in the Harmony editor that edits the site and adds pages by chat
    • Wix Bookings with online payments and deposits
    The Catch

Bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  3. 3

    GoDaddy

    Best for

Owners who care most about a full-size gallery, a payment calculator and booked test drives.

    What it costs

Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Airo writes a first website for your business in Websites + Marketing
    • Online appointments with a deposit
    • Photo attachments on the contact form
    The Catch

Editing by chat, and asking the AI for new pages later, happen in Airo AI Builder, a separate GoDaddy product with its own credits; in Websites + Marketing, pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  4. 3

    Squarespace

    Best for

Good if polished design matters most and you don't mind adding a separate booking tool.

    What it costs

Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Blueprint AI writes a multi-page starting site
    • Design-led templates
    • Invoices and online payments on every plan
    The Catch

Online booking is a second subscription, Acuity Scheduling, on top of the website plan, and it's managed in a different place.

  5. 3

    WordPress.com

    Best for

For owners who want full control and don't mind choosing and looking after plugins.

    What it costs

Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI website builder on paid plans
    • An AI assistant that edits and creates pages, on every paid plan
    • Thousands of plugins
    The Catch

Booking, reviews and invoices each come from a plugin you choose, may pay for and keep updated, so the setup and upkeep are on you. Photo uploads on forms need the Business plan.

What should a car dealership website include?

A buyer looking at your site has three other lots open in other tabs, so the page has to show every car with a price, say what the payment would be and make the test drive a tap away, before anything else.

  • Every car, priced, with photos that open. Twenty photos a car, the mileage, the price written on the page and a full-size view on a phone.
  • The monthly payment. A calculator that turns the price and a deposit into a payment, and the financing you offer in plain words.
  • A test drive to book. A time a buyer picks for Saturday, and a trade-in form that asks for the year, the mileage and photos.
  • Why trust you. The inspection you do on every car, the warranty you offer, Google reviews and the dealer license number on the page.
  • Hours and the lot. A map, today's hours and a call button, because the buyer is driving to three lots this afternoon.

How did we score the website builders?

The 9 tests, and what it takes to get a tick:

  • Every car in a gallery that opens full size. A buyer wants to see the dent, the dash and the tires before the drive. Tick: gallery layouts built in, and a visitor taps a photo to see it full size. Dash: galleries with no full-size view, or only through an app. Cross: no gallery.
  • A payment calculator on the page. Most buyers shop by the monthly payment, not the price. Tick: a calculator built into the builder that turns a price, a deposit and a term into a monthly figure. Dash: a calculator from another company pasted in. Cross: no way to add one.
  • Test drives booked online. A buyer who books a Saturday test drive on Tuesday night is a buyer who turns up. Tick: they book a time on your site, on the website plan. Dash: it needs a second subscription, a plugin or another company's scheduler.
  • Finished first draft. The lot is open seven days and the cars turn every month. The website gets one evening. Tick: it writes the whole site, pages and words, from a description of your business. Dash: templates, or AI that only writes some of it.
  • Edit by chat, new pages by AI. The inventory, the prices and this month's financing offer change every week. Updating them should take a sentence. Tick: you type a change and the site updates, and you can ask for a new page and get one.
  • Local search set up for you. "Used cars near me" is searched by a buyer who will drive twenty miles, and the lot with every car priced and photographed on the page gets the visit. Tick: a map of the areas you cover, a page for each town, and your Google reviews on the site, all built in. Dash: some of that, or only with add-ons.
  • Search coaching. Used trucks, buy-here-pay-here and trade-ins are separate searches, and so is every make you stock, and each is a page worth having. Tick: something that checks your site and tells you what to fix, plus a Google Search Console connection that turns your search data into ideas for new pages. Dash: one of the two.
  • Fast pages, measured. A buyer flicking through twelve cars on a phone leaves the first page that stalls. We measured this ourselves with Google's PageSpeed test on real sites built with each builder. Tick: a typical phone score of 90 or more, which Google calls good. Dash: 50 to 89. Cross: under 50.
  • Leads, quotes, invoices and payments together. The written price a buyer accepts online, the deposit that holds the car and the balance, in one place rather than a text thread and a receipt book. Tick: a leads inbox, quotes your customers accept online, invoices and online payments, all built in. Dash: some of them, or only with plugins.

How we picked them. When we asked ChatGPT "What is the best website builder for a car dealership? Give me your top 5." on October 26, 2026, twice, its answers named DealerOn, Dealer Inspire, Dealer.com, DealerCenter, Wix and Carsforsale.com. We score the general builders that appear on every page in this series, Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy (its Websites + Marketing builder) and WordPress.com, whether ChatGPT named them this time or not. Zarla is ours. We haven't scored DealerOn, Dealer Inspire, Dealer.com, DealerCenter and Carsforsale.com on this page. The four dealer platforms are sold by demo and quote, not signed up to and built with, so the question below answers them from their own pages. Yola's own page "The 5 best website builders for car dealerships" (last updated 8 September 2026), which ranks Yola first, says of its own builder: "No vehicle inventory database and no DMS feed, so every listing is a gallery and pricing block you add, edit and pull down by hand".

How we scored them. Same tests for everyone, each worth the same. We checked every answer on the builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026, and the every car in a gallery that opens full size test on October 24, 2026, and the payment calculator on the page test on October 12, 2026, and the leads, quotes, invoices and payments together test on October 4, 2026, and re-checked every answer on October 26, 2026. godaddy.com blocks automated reading of some of its pages, so where we couldn't open one, we read GoDaddy's page as Google indexes it. When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.

How we measured speed. Google's PageSpeed test, three runs each on phone and desktop, on up to ten real sites per builder. For the others we used the first sites built with them that came up in Google for home-service businesses in five US cities (for WordPress, any WordPress site). Zarla sites don't rank in those searches yet, so we picked ten at random from our customers' published sites and don't name them. It's a sample, not a promise about any one site.

What we didn't score. Price, because every plan bundles different things (each builder's own price is on its card, and Zarla's is on our pricing page), and how long it takes to get a site live, which we plan to time and add here. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.

Questions owners ask

What should a car dealership website have?

Every car priced and photographed with a full-size view, a payment calculator, a test drive to book and a trade-in form, the inspection and warranty you stand behind, Google reviews and your license number, a map, hours and a call button. Our guide to starting a car dealership covers the license, the bond and the first ten cars, and our car dealership business plan runs the numbers on a ten-car lot.

What is the best online auto dealer?

If you mean where buyers shop, Google's page one for this search is the dealer platforms and the listing sites, and a buyer's answer is Carvana, CarMax, Cars.com and Autotrader. If you mean the best website for a dealer, it's the one at the top of this page, computed from the nine tests. The two connect: a listing site brings the buyer to your car, and your own site is where they see the other twenty photos, work out the payment and book the drive, which is why a dealer needs both.

What is a red flag in a dealership?

From the buyer's side, the same three every time: no prices on the site, two photos per car, and fees that only appear on the paperwork. Your website is where you clear them: the price written on every listing, the fees you charge stated on the page, twenty photos a car with the full-size view, the inspection you do and the warranty you offer. In the US the advertising rules for dealers are set state by state, so check your state's rules on what a printed price has to include before you publish one.

How much commission does a salesman make on a $50,000 car?

It depends on the gross, not the sticker. In the US, as our car dealership guide reports it, gross profit per used vehicle retailed at franchised dealers was $1,409 in the latest quarter it cites and $1,840 per new vehicle, and a salesperson's commission is a share of that gross set by the dealer, so a $50,000 car with thin gross can pay less than a $12,000 car with fat gross. An independent lot usually pays a flat amount a car or a share of the front-end gross. Your site's part is the gross: a buyer who has seen the photos, the payment and the inspection online haggles less. Check your state's rules on pay plans before you print one for your team.

Do dealers not like when you pay cash?

Some dealers earn on the financing, so a cash buyer earns them less, and buyers have learned to hold the cash back until the price is agreed. On your own site it's simpler to say what you do: list the price, say whether a cash price differs from a financed one, and say what financing you offer, because a buyer who finds the answer on the page comes in ready to sign. The calculator test above scores which builders put the monthly payment on the page without another tool.

Is this the right guide for an auto repair shop or a mobile mechanic?

No: a shop sells on booked repairs and estimates, and our best website builders for auto repair shops scores booking and quote requests for that trade, with mobile mechanics on their own page. This page scores what a dealer needs instead, the full-size gallery, the payment calculator and booked test drives. A lot with a service bay reads both.

Is Wix or GoDaddy better for a car dealership website?

Wix, on these tests: 14 of 18 to GoDaddy's 12. Both write a first draft with AI, both open a gallery photo full size and both book a test drive on the website plan, and neither has a payment calculator built in; the difference is the chat and the office: Wix's AI edits and adds pages by chat and it keeps price quotes, invoices and payments together, where GoDaddy's chat editing is a separate product and its invoices come with no quotes built in. The table above has every mark, and the order is computed from them rather than chosen, so read the scores rather than take our word for it.

Do I need a dealer platform such as DealerOn or Dealer.com instead of a website builder?

A franchise store with hundreds of cars and a DMS feed usually does; a ten-car independent lot usually doesn't, and that's the line ChatGPT drew too, asked on October 26, 2026: "a general website builder is great for a small independent lot, while a dedicated automotive platform is usually a better fit for a franchise dealership or a large used-car inventory." The platforms are sold by demo and none is scored here. DealerOn's independent-dealer page (read October 26, 2026) says "Integrated Local SEO means your dealership will show up where it counts, driving more traffic from Google to your website than your competition." and ends in "REQUEST A DEMO"; Dealer.com's websites page says "Connect your inventory and fixed operations with in-market shoppers through an automated, high-performing, personalized website experience."; Dealer Inspire's says it "offers connected auto digital marketing solutions including premium websites, next-gen retailing technology, and marketing services to maximize ROI"; DealerCenter's dealer-websites page sums itself up, in its own description line, as "Integrated Dealer Websites - Automatic Ad Posting to all your 3rd advertising sites - Internet Lead Management." Carsforsale.com's page put a bot check in front of our read and Google's indexed read returned nothing, so it's named here and not quoted. What the builders on this page can't do is pull inventory from a DMS: every car is a listing you add and pull down, which is fine at ten cars and a job at two hundred.

What do ChatGPT, Yola and the review sites say is the best website builder for a car dealership?

Asked twice on October 26, 2026, ChatGPT put DealerOn first both times, then Dealer Inspire, Dealer.com and Wix, with DealerCenter in one answer and Carsforsale.com in the other, and said it would "favor a platform with automotive-specific inventory and lead-generation tools over a generic drag-and-drop website builder"; it didn't name Zarla. Its sources included Yola's own list (last updated September 8, 2026), which ranks Yola first, then Wix, GoDaddy, Duda and Squarespace, and names its limits: "No vehicle inventory database and no DMS feed, so every listing is a gallery and pricing block you add, edit and pull down by hand" and "Mobile customization is limited: pages are responsive out of the box, but you cannot build a separate phone-only version of a listing page". WebsiteBuilderReport (updated April 2026) names Squarespace for car dealerships with Wix as runner-up. None of those pages scores the builders on the same tests, which is what the table above does; read the marks, not the names.

How much does a car dealership website cost?

Building and previewing one can cost nothing; a live site on your own domain costs money on every builder here. Wix has a free plan on a wixsite.com address, and Core, its cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Squarespace Basic is $19/mo billed yearly after a 14-day free trial, and online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. WordPress.com Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; photo uploads on its forms come with Business, $25/mo billed yearly, and booking comes from a plugin. GoDaddy prices Websites + Marketing by country. Zarla is free to build and preview, and you pay when you publish, on the Premium plan. These are each builder's own US prices, read on its pricing page on September 28, 2026.

How long does it take to make a car dealership website?

With Zarla, the first draft takes about 30 seconds: every page, written for your car dealership, including a trade-in inquiry form and, when you list your towns, a page for each one. What's left is your cars, your prices and photos of the lot. Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy and WordPress.com can also write a first draft with AI; how long the rest takes depends on how much you set up yourself. We haven't timed them side by side yet.

Which website builders have a payment calculator built in?

None of the builders here has it built in. It takes another tool or a workaround on Zarla (no calculator built in; paste another company's); Wix (calculator apps from other companies); GoDaddy (pasted code in an HTML section); Squarespace (pasted code in a code block); WordPress.com (calculator plugins, on paid plans). We read each on the builder's own pages on October 12, 2026, and re-checked them on October 26, 2026.

Which website builders let a buyer book a test drive online?

Zarla, Wix and GoDaddy have it built in. It takes another tool or a workaround on Squarespace (Acuity Scheduling, a separate subscription); WordPress.com (with a booking plugin). We read each on the builder's own pages on September 28, 2026, and re-checked them on October 26, 2026.

Which website builders let customers accept a quote online?

Zarla sends a quote as one link: the customer picks an option, ticks any extras and accepts it, and Zarla drafts the invoice for what they chose, with any deposit you asked for, ready for you to send. Wix has Price Quotes that clients accept online and that can turn into an invoice. GoDaddy sends invoices, with a payment schedule for deposits, but has no quotes built in. Squarespace sends estimates and proposals with an Accept button, from its Basic plan. WordPress.com needs a quote plugin from another company. For a dealer the quote is the out-the-door price: the leads, quotes, invoices and payments test above scores which builders let a buyer accept one online, and the deposit that holds the car is the first payment. We read each builder's quoting on its own pages on October 4, 2026.

Is Wix good for a car dealership?

Yes, it's one of the stronger choices: Wix placed second of five here, with 14 of 18 points. Of the tests that are particular to car dealerships, it gets a tick on "Every car in a gallery that opens full size" and "Test drives booked online". The catch: bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.
