What's the best website builder for a tutoring business?

For most tutoring businesses, Wix is the best website builder, by a nose: it's level with Zarla on 12 of 16 across the eight tests we ran on six builders, with fewer crosses, and it handles weekly lesson bookings best.

If getting found on Google matters most to you, pick Zarla. Squarespace (10) and WordPress.com (10) are close behind.

The full scores are below, with every builder's weak spot, ours included.

Zarla for tutoring businesses, in plain facts

Zarla is an AI website builder for small businesses. Describe your tutoring business in a sentence and it writes the whole site, every page and every word, in about 30 seconds; after that you change it by typing what you want.

  • Customers book online or send you a request from your website, with no second booking subscription.
  • Price: Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.
  • Page speed: in our sample of real sites (Google PageSpeed, measured September 28, 2026; Yola's on October 12, 2026), Zarla had the fastest median of the six builders here, 86 on phone and 99 on desktop. The samples differ (theirs are sites that rank on Google, Yola's sites found on their own web addresses, ours random customer sites), as the method below explains.

Not yet: customers can't book a repeating visit themselves, so each visit is booked on its own.

In this comparison: second of six, with 12 of 16 points.

THE SCORES

How do website builders for tutoring businesses compare?

A tick is worth 2 points, a dash 1, a cross nothing, and every test counts the same, so the most anyone can score is 16.

THE LIST

The best website builders for tutoring businesses, ranked

  1. 1

    Wix

    Best for

Owners who care most about booking, including a weekly lesson slot.

    What it costs

Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI builder that writes your pages from a description
    • Aria, an AI agent in the Harmony editor that edits the site and adds pages by chat
    • Wix Bookings with online payments and deposits
    The Catch

Bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  2. 2

    Zarla

    Best for

Owners who care most about getting found on Google.

    What it costs

Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.

    Features
    • Describe your tutoring in a sentence and Zarla writes a complete first draft in about 30 seconds
    • Families book an assessment or a first lesson online and pay through your own Stripe
    • Type changes in plain words, or ask for a page per subject, and the site updates
    The Catch

Families can't book a weekly lesson slot themselves yet, so each lesson is booked on its own, and a tutoring first draft has no map or town pages. It's also newer than the big names.

  3. 3

    Squarespace

    Best for

Good if polished design matters most and you don't mind adding a separate booking tool.

    What it costs

Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Blueprint AI writes a multi-page starting site
    • Design-led templates
    • Invoices and online payments on every plan
    The Catch

Online booking is a second subscription, Acuity Scheduling, on top of the website plan, and it's managed in a different place.

  4. 3

    WordPress.com

    Best for

For owners who want full control and don't mind choosing and looking after plugins.

    What it costs

Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI website builder on paid plans
    • An AI assistant that edits and creates pages, on every paid plan
    • Thousands of plugins
    The Catch

Booking, reviews and invoices each come from a plugin you choose, may pay for and keep updated, so the setup and upkeep are on you. Photo uploads on forms need the Business plan.

  5. 5

    GoDaddy

    Best for

Handy if you already get your domain and email from GoDaddy.

    What it costs

Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Airo writes a first website for your business in Websites + Marketing
    • Online appointments with a deposit
    • Photo attachments on the contact form
    The Catch

Editing by chat, and asking the AI for new pages later, happen in Airo AI Builder, a separate GoDaddy product with its own credits; in Websites + Marketing, pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  6. 6

    Yola

    Best for

Owners who want a simple site with an AI first draft and already take bookings in another tool.

    What it costs

A free plan builds one site of two pages with a Yola banner. Personal, $9.95/mo billed yearly ($14.95 monthly), adds your own domain; Business, $19.95/mo billed yearly ($24.95 monthly), adds form file uploads and password-protected pages. A 30-day money-back guarantee. (their pricing page, checked 12 Oct 2026)

    Features
    • Yola AI drafts the home page from a description, then each page you add
    • Contact forms on every plan, with file uploads from the Business plan
    • Password-protected pages and custom code on the Business plan
    The Catch

There's no booking built in, so a family requests a time on a form or books in another tool you link to, and a weekly slot can't be booked at all.

What should a tutoring business website include?

A parent is handing you their child's grades and an hour of the family's week, so the site has to say what you teach, who you are, what it costs and how the first lesson happens.

  • Subjects and grades. Math, reading, science, test prep and languages, by grade, so the wrong calls stop and the right ones find their page.
  • Rates and packages. Your hourly rate or a starting price, and what a month of weekly lessons costs, up front.
  • In person, at a center or online. Where lessons happen, what a video lesson looks like, and the hours you teach.
  • Who the tutor is. Degrees, teaching experience, results, and background checks for anyone working with children.
  • A first step. A free assessment or trial lesson to book on every page, and reviews from families.

How did we score the website builders?

The 8 tests, and what it takes to get a tick:

  • Families book an assessment or a first lesson online. A parent who can book a free assessment at 9pm, after the homework argument, won't ring the next tutor in the morning. Tick: they book a time on your site, on the website plan. Dash: it needs a second subscription or a plugin.
  • Families book the same slot every week. Tutoring runs on a weekly lesson at the same time. Tick: families choose weekly or fortnightly as they book, on the website plan. Dash: you set up the repeats for them, or they need a second subscription or a plugin. Cross: the builder's own booking can't take a repeat.
  • Finished first draft. Tutors teach after school and in the evenings. The website shouldn't take the weekend too. Tick: it writes the whole site, pages and words, from a description of your business. Dash: templates, or AI that only writes some of it.
  • Edit by chat, new pages by AI. Subjects, grades, rates and the school calendar change every term. Updating them should take a sentence. Tick: you type a change and the site updates, and you can ask for a new page and get one.
  • Local search set up for you. Parents search for a math tutor near them, and even online lessons start with a local search for many families. Tick: a map of the areas you cover, a page for each town, and your Google reviews on the site, all built in. Dash: some of that, or only with add-ons.
  • Search coaching. Math tutor, reading tutor, SAT prep and ESL are separate searches, and each is a page worth having. Tick: something that checks your site and tells you what to fix, plus a Google Search Console connection that turns your search data into ideas for new pages. Dash: one of the two.
  • Fast pages, measured. Parents search on a phone, often with the homework open on the table. We measured this ourselves with Google's PageSpeed test on real sites built with each builder. Tick: a typical phone score of 90 or more, which Google calls good. Dash: 50 to 89. Cross: under 50.
  • Leads, quotes, invoices and payments together. A package of lessons invoiced and paid, with every family's messages in one place, rather than a spreadsheet and a payment app. Tick: a leads inbox, quotes your customers accept online, invoices and online payments, all built in. Dash: some of them, or only with plugins.

How we picked them. When we asked ChatGPT "What is the best website builder for a tutoring business? Give me your top 5." on October 24, 2026, twice, its answers named Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Kajabi, Yola and Teachable. We score the general builders that appear on every page in this series, Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy (its Websites + Marketing builder) and WordPress.com, whether ChatGPT named them this time or not, plus Yola from its answer. Zarla is ours. Kajabi, which we score on the life coaches page, and Teachable are course platforms with a website attached; neither is scored here, because a tutor who teaches live lessons needs booking, not courses. Yola's own page "The 5 best website builders for tutors" (last updated September 18, 2026) ranks Yola first and says it has "No built-in timetable display or live session management tools"; its booking marks here follow its help pages.

How we scored them. Same tests for everyone, each worth the same. We checked every answer on the builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026, and the leads, quotes, invoices and payments together test on October 4, 2026, and re-checked every answer on October 24, 2026. godaddy.com blocks automated reading of some of its pages, so where we couldn't open one, we read GoDaddy's page as Google indexes it. Yola's own site did the same with some pages, so we read those through a page-reading service, the help centre's public article feed, or as Google indexes them. When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.

How we measured speed. Google's PageSpeed test, three runs each on phone and desktop, on up to ten real sites per builder. For the others we used the first sites built with them that came up in Google for home-service businesses in five US cities (for WordPress, any WordPress site). Zarla sites don't rank in those searches yet, so we picked ten at random from our customers' published sites and don't name them. Yola joined later, so we ran the same PageSpeed test on October 12, 2026, on the five sites built with its current editor that we could find: we searched Google for sites on its own yolasite.com addresses and kept only pages that PageSpeed's own record shows loading that editor's files (most of the 52 we found were on its older editor), a search not limited to US businesses. It's a sample, not a promise about any one site.

What we didn't score. Price, because every plan bundles different things (each builder's own price is on its card, and Zarla's is on our pricing page), and how long it takes to get a site live, which we plan to time and add here. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.

Other trades. The same tests for cleaning businesses, junk removal companies, car detailing businesses, pressure washing businesses, plumbers, pet sitters and dog walkers, handyman businesses, construction companies, moving companies, remodelers, towing companies, tree service companies, painters, electricians, HVAC companies, roofing companies, landscapers, Christmas light installers, window tinting businesses, mobile mechanics, pool service companies, home care agencies, blinds and shutters companies, hair salons, restaurants, auto repair shops, barbershops, gyms, dog groomers, daycares, solar companies, life coaches, appliance repair businesses, notaries, consultants, laundromats, IT services companies, day spas, locksmiths.

Questions owners ask

What should a tutoring website have?

The subjects and grades you teach, your rates and packages, whether lessons are in person or online, your tutors and their backgrounds, the results families can expect, real reviews, and a way to book an assessment or a first lesson from every page. Our guide to starting a tutoring business covers rates, the school calendar and finding the first students.

How much should I charge for tutoring, and should the rate be on the website?

Most tutors on Wyzant charge $35 to $60 an hour (December 2024), a Huntington Learning Center franchise in Tennessee charges $75 an hour one on one (2024), and SAT and ACT prep runs from about $100 an hour for one Los Angeles tutor to $175 to $200 an hour in Princeton Review's list packages, so $50 an hour sits in the middle of the US market; where you land depends on the subject, the grade and your results. Put your rate or a starting price on the site: the families who contact you already know the range, and the ones it doesn't suit filter themselves out. Every builder here can put that on a page, and Zarla adds it when you type it in chat.

Do I need tutoring software such as TutorBird or Teachworks as well as a website?

Once you have a dozen families, most tutors run the lessons in tutoring software, and the two often named do different things on the website side. TutorBird calls itself "the #1 tutor management software for private tutors, tutoring centers, and test prep centers" and includes a "Website Builder" to "Create a professional website with our drag & drop editor"; Teachworks says "Teach more, manage less" and offers to "automate your billing, manage your staff", with website plugins rather than a website. We read both on their own pages on October 24, 2026; neither is scored here. If your lessons, notes and family billing already run in one of them, use its website or plugins and keep things together; if they don't, a website builder is the page a parent finds and books from, and the lesson software can come later.

Can families book a first lesson online?

On most of them. Zarla, Wix (from its Core plan) and GoDaddy take bookings on the website plan; Squarespace needs Acuity Scheduling, a separate subscription, and WordPress.com a booking plugin. Yola has no booking built in: a date request on its form, or a link to another tool. The weekly slot is the harder test, and it's the one below.

Should I list on a tutoring marketplace instead of building my own website?

Do both, in that order if you're starting from nothing. Marketplaces such as Wyzant list you beside hundreds of other tutors and send students for a share of each lesson, which is fine for the first families and expensive once they come back every week. Your own site is where a parent who heard your name from another parent checks you out and books, and where the weekly regulars pay you directly; the local-search tests above show which builders put you in your own town's results. Keep the marketplace profile pointing at your site.

What is the best free website builder for a tutor?

You can build for free on most of them, but a site on your own domain costs money everywhere. Wix has a free plan on a wixsite.com address; Yola's free plan builds one site of two pages with a Yola banner; Squarespace has a 14-day free trial. Zarla is free to build and preview, and you pay when you publish, on the Premium plan. Google Sites, which many teachers use, is free with a Google account; it isn't scored on this page, but our free website builders comparison scores it on what each one lets you publish for free.

How long does it take to make a tutoring business website?

With Zarla, the first draft takes about 30 seconds: every page, written for your tutoring business, including a contact form and a call-back request. What's left is your subjects and rates, your tutors' backgrounds and a photo of you. Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy and WordPress.com can also write a first draft with AI; how long the rest takes depends on how much you set up yourself. Yola's AI drafts the home page from your description, then each page you add. We haven't timed them side by side yet.

Which website builders let families book the same lesson slot every week?

Weekly is how tutoring works, so this is the test to check before you choose. None of the builders here has it built in. It takes another tool or a workaround on Wix (you set up the series; customers can't); Squarespace (customers pick repeats in Acuity, a separate subscription); WordPress.com (depends on the plugin). Zarla, GoDaddy and Yola can't do it. We read each on the builder's own pages on September 28, 2026 (Yola's on October 12, 2026), and re-checked them on October 24, 2026.

How much does a tutoring business website cost?

Building and previewing one can cost nothing on most builders; a live site on your own domain costs money on every builder here. Wix: Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. Squarespace: Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. WordPress.com: Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. GoDaddy: Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. Yola: A free plan builds one site of two pages with a Yola banner. Personal, $9.95/mo billed yearly ($14.95 monthly), adds your own domain; Business, $19.95/mo billed yearly ($24.95 monthly), adds form file uploads and password-protected pages. A 30-day money-back guarantee. Zarla is free to build and preview, and you pay when you publish, on the Premium plan. Each price is the builder's own, read on its pricing or help pages (September 28, 2026 and October 12, 2026); check it for your country before you buy.

Which website builders let customers accept a quote online?

Wix has Price Quotes that clients accept online and that can turn into an invoice. Zarla sends a quote as one link: the customer picks an option, ticks any extras and accepts it, and Zarla drafts the invoice for what they chose, with any deposit you asked for, ready for you to send. Squarespace sends estimates and proposals with an Accept button, from its Basic plan. WordPress.com needs a quote plugin from another company. GoDaddy sends invoices, with a payment schedule for deposits, but has no quotes built in. Yola lists no quotes or invoicing for its websites; its online store makes invoices for paid orders only. Job-management software such as Jobber and Housecall Pro goes further: the customer can pay the deposit as they approve the quote. We read each builder's quoting on its own pages on October 4, 2026 (Yola's on October 12, 2026).

Is Wix good for a tutoring business?

Yes: Wix placed first of six here, with 12 of 16 points. Of the tests that are particular to tutoring businesses, it gets a tick on "Families book an assessment or a first lesson online". The catch: bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.
