COMPARED SEPTEMBER 2026

Best website builders for pharmacies (2026)

We scored 5 website builders on the 9 things a pharmacy needs, the same way for all of them, including Zarla, which is ours.

Free to build · Pay when you publish

Key takeaways

  • Wix and Zarla tie for first, on 15 of 18 points across nine tests.
  • Pick by what matters most: if getting found on Google matters most to you, Zarla; if vaccines booked online, refills on a signed agreement and front-of-store sales matter most to you, Wix.
  • Zarla is ours, so weigh that: its weak spots are in the table like everyone else's.
  • None of the five gets a tick on "Local search set up for you".
  • Every competitor verdict comes from the builder's own pages, with the date we read it. When we asked ChatGPT, it named two of these builders, and not Zarla.

Zarla for pharmacies, in plain facts

Zarla is an AI website builder for small businesses. Describe your pharmacy in a sentence and it writes the whole site, every page and every word, in about 30 seconds; after that you change it by typing what you want.

  • Customers book online or send you a request from your website, with no second booking subscription.
  • An online store, with checkout through your own Stripe account and orders in your dashboard.
  • Price: Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.
  • Page speed: in our sample of real sites (Google PageSpeed, measured September 28, 2026), Zarla had the fastest median of the five builders here, 86 on phone and 99 on desktop. The samples differ (theirs are sites that rank on Google, ours random customer sites), as the method below explains.

No business associate agreement: the site's own form stays to a name, a phone number and a time, and refill and transfer requests run in your pharmacy system's app or portal, linked from the site.

In this comparison: joint first of five, with 15 of 18 points.

THE SCORES

How do website builders for pharmacies compare?

THE LIST

The best website builders for pharmacies, ranked

  1. 1

    Wix

    Best for

Owners who care most about vaccine bookings, private refill requests and a store.

    What it costs

Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI builder that writes your pages from a description
    • Aria, an AI agent in the Harmony editor that edits the site and adds pages by chat
    • Wix Bookings with online payments and deposits
    The Catch

Bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  2. 1

    Zarla

    Best for

Owners who care most about getting found on Google.

    What it costs

Free to build and preview. You pay when you publish, on the Premium plan, which includes booking, the leads inbox and invoices.

    Features
    • Describe your pharmacy in a sentence and Zarla writes a complete first draft in about 30 seconds, services, hours and an insurance section included
    • Customers book a flu shot, a vaccine or a consult online, synced to your Google Calendar, with a call button for the ones in a hurry
    • Front-of-store products sold online through your own Stripe, with orders in your dashboard
    The Catch

Zarla doesn't sign a business associate agreement, so refill and transfer requests run in your pharmacy system's app and the site's own form stays to a name, a phone number and a time; the store sells front-of-store products, never prescriptions; and the pharmacy first draft comes with a map but no town pages. Zarla is also the newest name here.

  3. 3

    GoDaddy

    Best for

Handy if you already get your domain and email from GoDaddy.

    What it costs

Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Airo writes a first website for your business in Websites + Marketing
    • Online appointments with a deposit
    • Photo attachments on the contact form
    The Catch

Editing by chat, and asking the AI for new pages later, happen in Airo AI Builder, a separate GoDaddy product with its own credits; in Websites + Marketing, pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

  4. 3

    Squarespace

    Best for

Good if polished design matters most and you don't mind adding a separate booking tool.

    What it costs

Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • Blueprint AI writes a multi-page starting site
    • Design-led templates
    • Invoices and online payments on every plan
    The Catch

Vaccine bookings run in Acuity Scheduling, a second subscription on top of the website plan, and Squarespace's own help says its form blocks aren't for patient information, so refill requests go to Acuity's Powerhouse or Premium plan or your pharmacy app.

  5. 3

    WordPress.com

    Best for

For owners who want full control and don't mind choosing and looking after plugins.

    What it costs

Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. (their pricing page, checked 28 Sept 2026)

    Features
    • An AI website builder on paid plans
    • An AI assistant that edits and creates pages, on every paid plan
    • Thousands of plugins
    The Catch

Booking, reviews and invoices each come from a plugin you choose, may pay for and keep updated, so the setup and upkeep are on you. Photo uploads on forms need the Business plan.

What should a pharmacy website include?

Somebody new to the area, or fed up with the chain, is deciding whether to move their prescriptions. The site answers the three questions they'd call about, hours, plans and how a transfer works, and keeps the prescription itself in your pharmacy system.

  • Hours, and whether you're open now. Today's hours at the top of every page, holiday hours, and a phone number and a call button that work from a phone.
  • The plans you take, and how to transfer. Your insurance plans, how a transfer works in one line, and a link to your refill app or portal for the request itself.
  • The services the chains don't make easy. Compounding, blister packs, delivery, immunizations, medication reviews and a pharmacist who picks up the phone, one page each.
  • Vaccines and consults to book. A Book button for a flu shot or a consult on every page, kept to a name, a number and a time.
  • The front of store, online. Vitamins, supplements and medical equipment with pickup at the counter, your address and parking, and real reviews from customers.

How did we score the website builders?

The 9 tests, and what it takes to get a tick:

  • Vaccines and consults booked online. A flu shot, a travel vaccine and a medication review each want a time, and a customer picks the pharmacy that lets them book one. Tick: the booking takes a time on your site, on the website plan. Dash: it needs a second subscription, a plugin or your pharmacy system's scheduler.
  • Refill and transfer requests kept private under HIPAA. In the US, a pharmacy is a covered entity, and a form that carries a prescription number, a date of birth or a medication is protected health information. Tick: the builder signs a business associate agreement and its own forms can carry those details. Dash: no agreement for the website, so refills and transfers run in your pharmacy system's app or portal, linked from the site. Cross: no way to add one.
  • Front-of-store products sold online for pickup. Vitamins, supplements, blood-pressure monitors and the gift aisle sell online as well as over the counter, and never a prescription. Tick: products with checkout and pickup, built in on the website plan. Dash: an add-on or a plugin. Cross: no store.
  • Finished first draft. The phone rings all day with "are you open" and "is it ready". The first draft should take less time than one of those calls. Tick: it writes the whole site, pages and words, from a description of your business. Dash: templates, or AI that only writes some of it.
  • Edit by chat, new pages by AI. A new vaccine, a plan you've joined, a delivery day: say it in a sentence and the page changes with you. Tick: you type a change and the site updates, and you can ask for a new page and get one.
  • Local search set up for you. Somebody new to town searches for a pharmacy near them, checks the hours and the plans, and moves a prescription to whoever shows up with both. Tick: a map of the areas you cover, a page for each town, and your Google reviews on the site, all built in. Dash: some of that, or only with add-ons.
  • Search coaching. Compounding, blister packs, immunizations and free delivery are separate searches, and each is a page worth having. Tick: something that checks your site and tells you what to fix, plus a Google Search Console connection that turns your search data into ideas for new pages. Dash: one of the two.
  • Fast pages, measured. A customer checking whether you're open is on a phone at the curb, and a page that stalls sends them to the chain two blocks over. We measured this ourselves with Google's PageSpeed test on real sites built with each builder. Tick: a typical phone score of 90 or more, which Google calls good. Dash: 50 to 89. Cross: under 50.
  • Leads, quotes, invoices and payments together. A transfer request, a delivery sign-up and a consult booking belong in one place, with the insurance question beside them. Tick: a leads inbox, quotes your customers accept online, invoices and online payments, all built in. Dash: some of them, or only with plugins.

How we picked them. When we asked ChatGPT "best website builder for pharmacies" on November 3, 2026, twice, its answers named Digital Pharmacist, Lumistry, HiPharmacist, Wix, WordPress and Yola. We score the general builders that appear on every page in this series, Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy (its Websites + Marketing builder) and WordPress.com, whether ChatGPT named them this time or not. Zarla is ours. We haven't scored Digital Pharmacist, Lumistry, HiPharmacist and Yola on this page. Digital Pharmacist, Lumistry and HiPharmacist build pharmacy websites with a refill portal attached, answered below in their own words rather than scored, and Yola is scored on our dog groomer, daycare, notary, tutor, car wash and farm pages; Storbie and DigitalPharmacy.io, which Gemini named on November 3, 2026, and RedSail Websites and Dr. Leonardo, which Google's AI Overview named, are answered below too; Shopify, which Gemini and Google's AI Mode named on November 2, 2026, is scored on our best Wix alternatives page, and Elementor, named once, is a page builder for self-hosted WordPress.

How we scored them. Same tests for everyone, each worth the same. We checked every answer on the builder's own website and help pages on September 28, 2026, and the refill and transfer requests kept private under HIPAA test on October 24, 2026, and the front-of-store products sold online for pickup test on October 17, 2026, and the leads, quotes, invoices and payments together test on October 4, 2026. We re-read Wix's plans page, its HIPAA article and its Wix Stores articles, Squarespace's scheduling page, its form-blocks and Acuity-and-HIPAA articles and its pricing page, and WordPress.com's booking plugins, ecommerce and pricing pages on November 3, 2026, and the verdicts held; godaddy.com's help pages refused automated reads that day, so GoDaddy's answers were not re-read and keep their earlier dates. When two builders tie on points, the one with fewer crosses goes first.

How we measured speed. Google's PageSpeed test, three runs each on phone and desktop, on up to ten real sites per builder. For the others we used the first sites built with them that came up in Google for home-service businesses in five US cities (for WordPress, any WordPress site). Zarla sites don't rank in those searches yet, so we picked ten at random from our customers' published sites and don't name them. It's a sample, not a promise about any one site.

What we didn't score. Price, because every plan bundles different things (each builder's own price is on its card, and Zarla's is on our pricing page), and how long it takes to get a site live, which we plan to time and add here. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.

Other trades. The same tests for cleaning businesses, junk removal companies, car detailing businesses, pressure washing businesses, plumbers, pet sitters and dog walkers, handyman businesses, construction companies, moving companies, remodelers, towing companies, tree service companies, painters, electricians, HVAC companies, roofing companies, landscapers, Christmas light installers, window tinting businesses, mobile mechanics, pool service companies, home care agencies, blinds and shutters companies, hair salons, restaurants, auto repair shops, barbershops, gyms, dog groomers, daycares, solar companies, life coaches, appliance repair businesses, notaries, consultants, tutoring businesses, laundromats, IT services companies, day spas, locksmiths, artists, nonprofits, therapists, musicians, car washes, gutter cleaning companies, wedding planners, food trucks, jewelry businesses, farms, tax preparers, churches, DJs, insurance agents, marketing agencies, videographers, architects, engineering firms, luxury real estate agents, bars, car dealerships, graphic designers, online stores, foundations, tattoo artists, software companies, retail stores, gymnastics clubs, photographers, massage therapists, dentists, chiropractors, doctors, yoga studios, financial advisors, web designers, content creators.

Questions owners ask

What should a pharmacy website have?

Today's hours at the top, the insurance plans you take, how a transfer works with a link to your refill app for the request itself, your services with a page each, vaccines and consults to book, the front-of-store products you sell online, your pharmacists, your address and parking, real reviews, and a call button on every page. The booking, HIPAA and store tests above show which builders do those without another tool. Our pharmacy website builder page covers what Zarla's first draft includes and what it doesn't.

Do I need Digital Pharmacist, Lumistry or HiPharmacist instead of a builder?

If you want refills and transfers submitted through the website itself, probably: that's what the pharmacy website companies sell, and none of them prints a price. Digital Pharmacist's healthsite page "Prioritizes patient security with HIPAA and ADA-compliant technology", "Integrates with more than 70 pharmacy management systems" and says "Patients can request prescription refills straight from your healthsite or branded mobile app by logging in securely, submitting their request, and selecting their ideal pick-up method.", behind "Request Your Free Demo". Lumistry's websites page is headed "Custom Websites", "Refill portal, AI-optimized", and says "Pricing depends on the package and the services you want to feature, which is why we start with a short consultation instead of a one-size price tag." HiPharmacist says "Custom websites, online refills, patient forms, and a full e-commerce store — all managed from one powerful dashboard. Built by pharmacists. Backed by 10 years of experience." and "No templates. No drag-and-drop builders.", behind "Book a Free Demo". Storbie's Pharmacy Pro, which Gemini named, is "The essential website solution for modern pharmacies" with "HIPAA compliant forms for refills, transfer requests, and service inquiries.", and RedSail Technologies sells it to its own network as RedSail Websites, "a service designed to create beautiful, functional, and locally optimized pharmacy websites" (its post is dated June 4, 2024); neither prints a price. Dr. Leonardo, which Google's AI Overview named, says "Dr. Leonardo's Fill / Refill Your Prescription function makes it easy to integrate your software so patients can request refills at any time of the day" and prints "PROVIDER-SITES" at "$ 35.00" "per month" "+ One Time Activation Fee of $ 95.00" and "PRACTICE-SITES" at "$ 75.00" "per month" "+ One Time Activation Fee of $ 495.00". We read all of them on November 3, 2026, and none is scored here. The choice is the one the assistants keep drawing: a company wires the website into your pharmacy system and charges for it, a builder gives you the site that brings the new customer in and links the refill app you already have. The table above shows what each builder does on its own.

Which website builder do ChatGPT, Gemini and Google recommend for a pharmacy?

Wix on every answer, a pharmacy website company first on most, and the three assistants never named Zarla, though Google's AI Overview did. When we asked ChatGPT "best website builder for pharmacies" on November 2, 2026, twice with web search on, it named Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Elementor and Yola, without naming Zarla in either answer; Gemini named Shopify, WordPress and Wix, reading five pharmacy e-commerce pages; Google's AI Mode named WordPress, Wix, Squarespace and Shopify. Asked again on November 3, 2026, ChatGPT opened one run with "I would recommend looking at pharmacy-specific website platforms rather than ordinary website builders." and ranked Digital Pharmacist "(Best overall pharmacy solution)", Lumistry "(Best modern pharmacy websites)", HiPharmacist, Wix and WordPress, adding Yola in the other run, and warned that "A regular website builder is not automatically HIPAA compliant just because it offers SSL or secure hosting."; Gemini named Storbie and DigitalPharmacy.io under "1. Best Industry-Specific Solutions (Recommended for Independent Pharmacies)", Shopify and WordPress with WooCommerce under "2. Best General E-Commerce & Growth Builders (For Advanced Retail)" and Wix and Squarespace under "3. Best for Quick Local Presence & Simple Sites", and cited our pharmacy website builder page for its line that "Most patients search for "pharmacy near me" on mobile phones."; AI Mode named Digital Pharmacist "(Best specialized choice for independent pharmacies)", Yola "(Best overall general builder for quick pharmacy setups)", GoDaddy "(Best for all-in-one marketing)", Wix "(Best for creative design control)" and Squarespace "(Best for a polished, modern brand image)". The same day Google's AI Overview for the search named Digital Pharmacist, RedSail Websites, Dr. Leonardo and Zarla under "Top Pharmacy-Specific & Industry Platforms", describing Zarla as "Best for a fast, AI-generated micro-site." and "It builds a pharmacy-specific layout with local SEO and basic lead tracking in roughly 30 seconds, though it lacks deep PMS or specialized clinical integrations.", citing our pharmacy website builder page, then Yola, Wix and Squarespace under "Top General Website Builders (For Custom Designs)"; the builder page itself was fifth on page one. The lists behind the answers each pick a different winner. Yola's "The 5 best website builders for pharmacies" (updated September 8, 2026) ranks Yola first, then Wix, GoDaddy, Squarespace and SITE123, and says of itself "It is a marketing site, not a patient portal."; HasHealth's "Which website builder should pharmacies use? Wix, WordPress, and Squarespace comparison" (Nicole Kow, October 12, 2021) says "Generally, Wix is agreed to be the easiest website builder on the market"; Wix's own "How to make a pharmacy website that attracts local patients" (updated October 20) says "You can build one with AI or from inside an AI assistant like Claude"; DigitalPharmacy.io's list opens "Launching an online pharmacy requires more than just a digital storefront." and ends with its own product; and Replit's page one entry offers to "Build a pharmacy website in minutes for free with AI." We read them all on November 3, 2026; ipcrx.com, nabp.pharmacy and help.shopify.com refused automated reads. Digital Pharmacist, Lumistry, HiPharmacist, Storbie, DigitalPharmacy.io, RedSail Websites, Dr. Leonardo, Yola, Shopify, Elementor, SITE123 and Replit aren't scored here. On this page five builders are scored on the same nine tests, Zarla included, and the order above is computed from them: Wix and Zarla level on points, and the fits table says which one leads on each priority.

Is Wix or Squarespace better for a pharmacy?

Wix, on these tests: 15 of 18 to Squarespace's 12. The store is even, Wix in Wix Stores, where "You can add and set up Wix Stores for free, but before customers can place orders, you need to upgrade your site to a plan that allows you to receive payments.", and Squarespace on every website plan, whose pricing page says "Sell products and services" from Basic up; Wix pulls ahead on the vaccine booking (Wix Bookings from its Core plan; Squarespace books in Acuity Scheduling, a separate subscription), on the refill form (Wix's help: "HIPAA compliance is available with Business, Plus, Elite, Business Elite and Enterprise plans."; Squarespace's, of its form blocks: "To collect secure patient information, we recommend Acuity Scheduling.") and on chat editing, with all four pages read November 3, 2026. Yola's list puts Wix second and Squarespace fourth, and Google's AI Mode gave Wix the design and Squarespace the brand. Every mark is in the table; a pharmacy that already books in Acuity can read it as 15 to 13.

Does a pharmacy website need to be HIPAA compliant?

In the US, a pharmacy is a covered entity: the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services lists pharmacies among the providers that are covered, "Providers who submit HIPAA transactions, like claims, electronically are covered." HIPAA reaches the patient information your website collects, not the pages that describe your hours, services and plans. A website needs no agreement as long as its forms take only a name, a phone number and a time; the moment a form carries a prescription number, a date of birth or a medication, whoever stores it needs a business associate agreement with the pharmacy. Wix is the one builder here that signs it for the website, on its Business plans and up; Squarespace signs it for Acuity Scheduling alone, a separate subscription on Acuity's Powerhouse or Premium plans, "the only Squarespace feature currently designed to offer services consistent with HIPAA obligations." in its help's words (both read November 3, 2026); GoDaddy, WordPress.com and Zarla send refills and transfers to your pharmacy system's app or portal, linked from the site. Pharmacies outside the US follow their own privacy and health-records law, the Privacy Act and the state health records acts in Australia, UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act in the UK. Confirm the details with your compliance advisor.

What can a pharmacy advertise on its website?

In the US, your services, hours, plans and prices, as long as every claim is true and your state board allows it, and the rules vary by state. Nevada's statute, for example, bars a pharmacist or pharmacy owner from making "any statement concerning prices or services, professional or otherwise, which is untrue or misleading"; California's Board of Pharmacy rule on false or misleading advertising says "No pharmacist or permit holder shall violate Section 17500 of the Business and Professions Code."; Florida requires an ad for a free or discounted service by a health care practitioner, pharmacists included, to carry a capital-letters statement that the patient "HAS A RIGHT TO REFUSE TO PAY, CANCEL PAYMENT, OR BE REIMBURSED FOR PAYMENT FOR ANY OTHER SERVICE, EXAMINATION, OR TREATMENT THAT IS PERFORMED AS A RESULT OF AND WITHIN 72 HOURS OF RESPONDING TO THE ADVERTISEMENT", and reserves the words "drug," "pharmacy," "prescription drugs," "Rx," or "apothecary," in a trade name or ad to a licensed pharmacy (all read on November 3, 2026). Every builder here can put a vaccine clinic, a transfer offer or a price on the page; keep controlled substances out of your advertising, make only claims you can back up, and check your state board of pharmacy's advertising rules before you publish.

Can customers book a flu shot or a consult online?

On most of them. Zarla, Wix (from its Core plan) and GoDaddy take bookings on the website plan; Squarespace needs Acuity Scheduling, a separate subscription, and WordPress.com a booking plugin. A vaccine booking takes a name, a number and a time; the screening questions and the vaccine record belong in your pharmacy system, and the customer in a hurry phones from the call button beside Book.

Can I sell over-the-counter products from my pharmacy website?

On all five, and never a prescription. Zarla, Wix, Squarespace and GoDaddy sell products with checkout on the website plan (GoDaddy on its Commerce plan, in some regions) and WordPress.com on its Commerce plan with WooCommerce; the store row above has every mark (Wix's, Squarespace's and WordPress.com's store pages were re-read on November 3, 2026, and GoDaddy's keeps its earlier date). Keep it to the front of store, vitamins, supplements, medical equipment and the gift aisle, with pickup at the counter, and leave prescriptions, controlled substances and anything that needs a pharmacist's check in your pharmacy system and your state's rules. In the US, a pharmacy that ships prescriptions to other states needs a license in each one; our pharmacy website builder page has the detail.

Is this the right guide for a medical practice or a health food store?

Each has its own page. A medical practice reads our best website builders for doctors, which keeps the booking and HIPAA tests and swaps the store for pages only patients can open, and a health food store or a shop with no pharmacist reads our best website builders for retail stores, where the store, events and content tests decide it. A compounding pharmacy, a long-term-care pharmacy or an independent with a delivery van reads this page, because the refill form and the vaccine booking are the tests that decide it.

How long does it take to make a pharmacy website?

With Zarla, the first draft takes about 30 seconds: every page, written for your pharmacy, including a booking form and a map with directions. What's left is your hours, your insurance plans and your delivery area. Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy and WordPress.com can also write a first draft with AI; how long the rest takes depends on how much you set up yourself. We haven't timed them side by side yet.

Which website builders are HIPAA compliant for a pharmacy website?

In the US, a pharmacy is a covered entity and HIPAA covers the patient information its website collects, not the pages that describe its hours and services, so the question is whether the builder signs a business associate agreement and lets its forms carry a prescription number or a medication. Wix signs a business associate agreement on the plans the table names, so refill and transfer forms can carry the details. There's no agreement for the website on Zarla (no BAA; embed or link a HIPAA-ready form or portal); GoDaddy (BAA for its Microsoft 365 email only; embed a HIPAA form); Squarespace (forms aren't HIPAA-ready; a BAA for Acuity Scheduling, a separate subscription); WordPress.com (HIPAA form plugins on paid plans; no BAA in its help). We read each on the builder's own pages on October 24, 2026.

Which website builders sell front-of-store products online?

Wix, Zarla, GoDaddy, Squarespace and WordPress.com have it built in. We read each on the builder's own pages on October 17, 2026.

How much does a pharmacy website cost?

Building and previewing one can cost nothing on most builders; a live site on your own domain costs money on every builder here. Wix: Core, the cheapest plan with bookings, is $29/mo billed yearly. Light is $17/mo without bookings, and there's a free plan on a wixsite.com address. GoDaddy: Websites + Marketing plans are priced by country, and GoDaddy's page didn't show us a US price, so check it for yours. Squarespace: Basic is $19/mo and Core $29/mo, billed yearly, after a 14-day free trial. Online booking is a separate Acuity Scheduling subscription. WordPress.com: Personal is $4/mo billed yearly; form file uploads need Business, $25/mo billed yearly. Plugins can add their own cost. Zarla is free to build and preview, and you pay when you publish, on the Premium plan. Each price is the builder's own, read on its pricing or help pages (September 28, 2026); check it for your country before you buy.

Is Wix good for a pharmacy?

Yes: Wix placed joint first of five here, with 15 of 18 points. Of the tests that are particular to pharmacies, it gets a tick on "Vaccines and consults booked online", "Refill and transfer requests kept private under HIPAA" and "Front-of-store products sold online for pickup". The catch: bookings need the Core plan rather than the cheapest one, and pages for each town you serve are yours to write.

See your pharmacy's website before you decide.

Add your pharmacy's name and your town to the sentence and Zarla builds the first draft, free. You pay only when you publish.
